The Review Score of 9.539 for Barchester Oulton Park Care Centre is based on 20 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.872 for Barchester Oulton Park Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (206 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 234 Ratings = 4.872

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.667 for Barchester Oulton Park Care Centre is calculated as follows:

      1. 20 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 20 Positive Reviews = 2.000 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (20 Positive Reviews ÷ 60 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.667

My mum had a stroke in late December 2015. After two months in hospital she moved to Oulton Park. We were initially worried about the move and the change in surroundings. However my mum was quickly made welcome and was very happy at the home. The staff were very caring and attentive. I was impressed with the activities arranged for the residents.

Mums room was pleasant with a view of the garden area.

Sadly my mum had a second stroke in early April and passed away after two weeks. This was a very stressful time and the home's care team were very helpful, caring and attentive during this time. They also worked very well with the hospital and GP practice to make sure mum was as comfortable as possible.

When my mum passed away the care team were also on hand to support the family at the home.

Overall my mum spent two months at Oulton Park and her stay was a happy one. I cant fault the staff and strongly recommend this home.

I am very pleased with my dad's care at this home. It is very welcoming and lots of activities. In my experience (of other homes) this is the best.
We attended the mock Christmas meal. Which is a great idea. It was very professional and made to feel like a special occasion. The staff were superb!

Because of the neglect to my wife in another care home she returned home unable to ever walk again. I cared for her for fourteen months. Her condition gradually became worse and I had to consider a nursing home. On the advice of several people and Oulton Park was recommended. This was the best advice ever given to me as we found it an absolutely wonderful home. The staff are the most caring, friendly and experienced we have ever known. They do their utmost to treat each individual so all receive personal care.

It is a privilege to express our admiration for all the team who make Barchester Oulton Park Care Centre a very special and unique home. The standard of care, love and patience given to everyone staying there is amazing. Our mother suffers with Alzheimer's and over the last year they have never failed her, patiently caring for her every need in a cheerful, professional manner. Her room and all the facilities are clean, immaculate, designed to feel homely and inspiring! The dining rooms, conservatory and gardens are truly beautiful and the choice of food served is of top restaurant standard, excellent.

I would like to praise the outstanding and excellent care that my nan receives from this care home. It is run supremely well and the staff are very welcoming, they work extremely hard and should be praised for the job they do. Furthermore the home is very clean and the hygiene is to an exemplary standard. In addition to this, I have been very impressed with the food and facilities. The choice and selection is that of a 5 star hotel. I would strongly recommend the home to anyone.

I was immediately impressed with the home itself, light, airy, beautifully furnished, clean, carpeted and very professional in a way that didn't compromise home comfort. We knew mummy would like it, despite her situation. I was similarly impressed with all the staff and carers. Mummy was only with them a short time but they all wanted to understand her likes and dislikes to make her comfortable and were genuinely loving and caring towards her. The food is great. The gardens are beautiful. The standard of medical care and emotional care are very good. I am desperately sad to have lost my mummy but am happy that she spent her last days at Oulton Park.

From the very start I have been treated as a human being and my dignity and needs have all been so respected by the staff. We all think this is a horrible world but Oulton Park have proved otherwise, everyone is so kind and caring. It's a wonderful, calm, warm, inviting place to be. The hospitality is wonderful here, I don't have a bad word to say about the home and everyone here has been so supportive with my wife passing, I couldn't ask or find better care and support than I have here.

My husband was in Oulton Park for 2 1/2 months. He was treated with great respect and his every need was looked after in a wonderful manner. His death was made so much easier because there was always someone with him. Even after this had happened some of his carers came to his funeral to pay their respects. This is a wonderful home in every aspect.

No better place.

My father has been in Barchester House just over a year now, suffering severe dementia. It's a lovely clean bright place to be. The staff are welcoming and friendly whenever you visit and certainly care for the residents. nothing is too much trouble and any concerns I've had have been swiftly dealt with. food is of a very high standard and as Xmas approached little treats were often delivered. Chocolates and wine or a glass of beer for residents. Entertainment is often brought in from outside too. I know my dad is well cared for and certainly couldn't ask for more.
