Coming into a care home was not a wanted or expected situation and the idea distressed the whole family, we were very pleasantly surprised at our experience so far. My father has been treated with dignity and care, encouraged to maintain normal life and we have been made very welcome.
We have had one concern with one weekend but when our concerns were raised the manager addressed it and replied immediately. Virtually all the staff are excellent and those that are not stand out massively.

My mother moved from another care home to Calway in February 2015. She has settled well into life at Calway. The staff are always kind caring and empathic to her needs. She is very happy. The only complaint is the constant ringing of call bells which greatly disturb my mother. Surely a better system could be achieved with personal beepers, as they have in hospitals. Also a lighter weight wheelchair available for use for outings by residents. Also activities need to be a little more stimulating!

The staff are lovely and do a good job always demonstrating care, kindness and respect. I am disappointed that a permanent manager has not been appointed. This is the third temp. The food has improved but it would be good to see more attention to presentation and taste once again catering staff do what they can, tricky to please all and cater for specialist diets. My mother is happy at Calway and this gives me a life, she has a good relationship with the people that care for her.
