The Review Score of 9.016 for Blenheim House Care Centre is based on 12 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.601 for Blenheim House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (97 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 143 Ratings = 4.601

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.415 for Blenheim House Care Centre is calculated as follows:

      1. 11 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 11 Positive Reviews = 1.100 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (11 Positive Reviews ÷ 53 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.415

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My father was only at Blenheim House for a very short time but from the start he was treated as a valued friend. It didn't take him long to settle in and enjoy being looked after so well. The rooms and facilities are wonderful but the staff, including those behind the scenes are the real gems. In the last week of his life the care given to dad was given with care, compassion and respect. This care and that shown to all the family, especially me, made the last days much easier to bear.

My husband has been in this home since last June. He has dementia. He can be very demanding and has been confrontational. His care has been exemplary since he arrived on the unit. He is well cared for and happy. The staff are well-trained, patient and kind.
The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly. The chef there is a wonderful cook, but more importantly he is a genuine friend to all the residents, showing empathy and patience in his contacts, not just to the residents, but to the friends and relatives when they come to visit!! Well done.

My aunt was only resident for three weeks, having moved from another nursing home. The atmosphere at Blenheim House is calm and caring. The staff are welcoming and my aunt was treated with care and compassion as were we. Her end of life was managed as we hoped and she died peacefully with a staff member in attendance.

My mother began at Blenheim House in August 2014. She has settled in remarkably well as a result of the excellent care she has experienced and combined with the wonderful environment she finds herself in. She has been able to walk in the garden which is such a fundamental part of her life. She enjoys a beautiful room and good food. The staff are exceptional always giving as much time as possible to her needs. She is a fiercely independent woman and they have recognised that and showed it whenever possible.

Blenheim House and staff would have been given excellent in almost every category bar for one or two small issues. i.e laundry care, personal belongings going astray from the laundry, not all the time but on the odd occasion. The odd request of furniture repair takes a long time to action on occasions, but staff always seem flat out so it's understandable. The kindness of staff is second to none, the rooms are lovely, sometimes could be cleaner in the corners! Meals more suitable to those with great teeth/dentures (softer very and chewable meat for us oldies) but great menus otherwise. Lovely people, lovely place.

My husband was only 45 when diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010. Blenheim House took care of him for the last weeks of his life and I cannot fault them for the love and support they gave to both my husband and myself. The staff genuinely care. They love the work they do and were all visibly upset by his passing. Although my husband was living in Clover Meadows, the floor predominantly for Alzheimer's residents, the staff did everything possible to give him 24 hour care and adjust to his needs and keep him safe. You cannot help but worry yourself sick when a loved one is terminally ill and away from home but staff encouraged me to stay with him overnight for his final week, which I did and I will always be so grateful to them as I know it made a difference to us both being able to sleep in the same room and to be with him as he passed away. Blenheim House feels more like a 5 star hotel than a nursing home. Although a private facility, thanks to his Consultant Oncologist, he was able to stay there as an NHS patient and received the same high level of care and patience as all the other residents. You are encouraged to voice any concerns you may have and it is always met with enthusiasm and understanding and not least of all personal adjustments. Any incidents that may occur are reported to the next of kin without delay. Visiting time is up to the individual - I practically lived there but when I could not be there, a member of staff was checking on him every 15 minutes and sometimes all day. I love you very much Blenheim and will never forget what you did for us xx

The staff are friendly, caring and professional. I feel confident in the knowledge of my concerns or questions concerning my mothers care or dignity a response will be positive of a resolution reached as soon as possible. Changes of senior staff has at times been evident however new staff replacements have been available to discuss any concerns. I have valued personal understanding in relation to my emotional feelings being valued and respected.

I cannot say how fantastic Blenheim House and all the staff are. My mother moved to Clove Meadow only 3weeks ago. She instantly had exceptional care, had her dignity restored after 6 weeks in hospital and smiled and laughed for the first time in months. Sadly she came to the end of her life 10 years before we expected it- not at all prepared we were supported, guided and genuinely cared for by Sarah, Mandy, Donna, Gorge, Pecho, Jacqueline, Jack, Linda, Anne. Mum passed away with dignity having had immense support and care from everyone and in delightful surroundings. We cannot speak highly enough of Blenheim House and the staff. Thank you.

My sister stayed at Blenheim House for 2 weeks residential respite. The home is beautiful, very clean, warm and all the staff were very kind and very helpful to my sister and to us. The receptionist was polite, caring and very helpful as was the office admin. The food and care she received was excellent, the overall home is excellent. 5*.

Description:

My background- Registered Mental Health Nurse and have experience in Learning difficulties, Challenging behaviour Down syndrome, Autism, general Elderly Care, Mental Health and Dementia care
As the new manager to Blenheim House care centre in Melksham I would like to share some of my thoughts with you on what I see as important in delivering Quality care for our residents. By doing this I hope that a feeling of mutual trust and confidence can be developed.
Safety is of paramount importance. You need to know that your loved ones are in safe hands and are being cared for with respect and with appreciation of their standing in society in former years. Privacy and a retention of dignity are important elements of care, as is an understanding of, and respect for, religious and cultural differences.
Each of our residents is an individual with a past and a future even though this may be subject to Physical or mental constraints. It is my aim that each individual should function to their full capacity through the enjoyment activities and social interaction. A well trained and highly motivated staff team, whose efforts and dedication are recognised and appreciated, will make these aims a reality. But the best possible care for our residents can only be achieved where there are open channels of communication between staff and families.
I hope to build on the excellent standards already in place at Blenheim House Care Centre and look forward to working with our Residents, families, friends with a view to providing quality care for loved ones entrusted with us. By working together we can achieve great things.
