  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.769 for St Georges Park is calculated as follows:

      1. 6 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 6 Positive Reviews = 0.600

      3. (6 Positive Reviews ÷ 71 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.169

Myself and my family have found St Georges Park to be a clean, bright and well maintained nursing home. My mother has settled well and her level of care is good, all aspects of her needs are met well, she is always clean, clean room and all laundry of her personal things are carried out to a high standard. All staff are pleasant, approachable and although it is early days yet as mum has only been here a short while, we have no complaints and are happy mum is here.

My wife has been a resident in St Georges park for approximately three and a half years and during this period the home has had three ownership changes, some members of staff have remained during the changes but of course there are now many new staff members. All staff members are kind, courteous and caring. Any issues are dealt with in a very satisfactory manner. The home is presently being refurbished and the Rydal Unit is now finished to an excellent standard. I only hope that the Derwent Unit where my wife is placed will be refurbished to the same standard!

Sue Hindes

Job Title: Acting Manager / Deputy Manager

Description:

Sue qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2006 and have worked closely with patients with long term illnesses. Sue enjoyed working in the private sector which she had done for the previous 20 years starting as a night care assistant and working her way up to her present position.

Sue particularly likes working with end of life residents and likes the rapport you get with the older person. Sue likes the way care homes individualise care and treat each resident differently. Her aim is to make St Georges their home and encourage families to bring in their own personal effects.

Sue has also completed degree courses in infection control, diabetes, mentorship and Assessment of the Acutely ill adult all of which aid her in her daily routine.

Donna Martin

Job Title: Administrator

Description:

Donna started working at St Georges Park in September 1997 after her Nan passed away in the home, she had Alzheimer’s and was in St Georges Park for 14 months and was very happy here.

This is what really made her want to work here, she volunteered here when her Nan was a resident helping the Activities lady and fund-raising to buy a mini-bus.

She worked in a variety of roles within the home including being promoted to Housekeeper and moving into Activities.

Having decided to do a long distance computer course she then started to work as the Administrator and Activities!

Donna completed her NVQ 2 in business administration with the local technical college and because she flew through it her assessor managed to secure funding to do her NVQ 3 too.

Donna feels that working with the residents at St Georges is very rewarding and it’s nice to feel that you make a difference to their lives and their families, it is hard putting your relative in a home (Donna's Mom is in another with Alzheimer’s) so if we can help make it a smooth process and support them then that’s great.
