The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):
Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)
The Quality Score (average rating) of 3.214 for Harmony House is calculated as follows: ( (2 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 14 Ratings = 3.214

Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.
0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)
(Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.
(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points
The Quantity Score of 3.135 for Harmony House is calculated as follows:
1 Positive Reviews = 3
0.1 x 1 Positive Reviews = 0.100
(1 Positive Reviews ÷ 57 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.035

Review submitted from a Website Submission by J F (Daughter of Resident/Service User) on Sunday 17 July 2016. Review relates to July 2016.
This care home is not having enough staff to give the care needed for the nursing floor. When it comes to personal care and pad changes it does not give the residents the support they need if suffering from dementia. We have numerous times spoken with the manager.

Ann Simmonds, Regional Manager at Harmony House responded to this review on 09 Aug 2016:
I am very sorry to read that you would be unlikely to recommend Harmony House to others and that you feel some areas are of a poor standard.
We take all concerns seriously and would like to invite you to raise any concerns that you may have with myself, the Regional Manager, so that they can be discussed in detail. I hope that we can make improvements and that you will be able to follow this review up again in the near future with more positive comments if you feel that things have improved.
Recommendation submitted from a Postal Card by Gill R (Daughter-in-law of Resident/Service User) on Wednesday 29 July 2015.
My mother and father in law were residents. Excellent care and support while in Harmony House. My mother in law lived there for 6 years. The staff treated both of them with utmost respect and attention, especially with their failing health. My father in law moved to a room adjacent to my mother in law they were able to live to the end of their lives together. It was home from home for them.
