To thank the staff, who looked after my mother. She was in the late stages of Alzheimer’s when we moved her to Morton. The carers were great nothing fazed them, they were patient, caring and gave Mum love. It helped us knowing she was being looked after so well.

Review of Morton Grange, Alfreton, Derbyshire by Tony Munroe (Son of Day Care User)

Sunday 23 September 2012

A big thank you to all the staff at Morton Grange for the care and dedication shown to my mother who, sadly, passed away in April this year. From the outset my wife and I were impressed with the high standards of professionalism, cleanliness of the home, and of the person - centered approach demonstrated by all employees. What is equally remarkable is the way in which the staff positively and creatively engage with residents and thus our experience is that the atmosphere of the home is always warm and friendly. It was for these reasons that we were keen for my mother to be offered a place at Morton Grange. It remains our opinion that the quality of the nursing care provided surpasses that which is provided for in other care homes within the Derbyshire area. My mother had been diagnosed with a number of health care needs and throughout the years with Morton Grange, those needs had been carefully monitored, in line with recommendations from health care professionals and expectations from family members. The Manager and Owner of Morton Grange were always on standby to deal with any queries or concerns which may have arisen. The accommodation itself is spacious, tastefully decorated and comprises substantial outdoor space within it's boundaries. My mother was a valued and respected member who benefited from the services offered at Morton Grange. I, therefore, have no hesitation in recommending this home to others. Many thanks again to all the staff for their excellent work.

The care given to all residents is outstanding. Nursing and managerial staff are always on hand for care and advice. My mum was a resident for almost 2 years and has recently passed away. The care my mum received during her final days was excellent as was the support to the immediate family.

Review of Morton Grange, Alfreton, Derbyshire by Roy P (Visitor)

Tuesday 8 November 2011

I would like to say how much all the staff look after the residents and treat them like a family member and not a number. No matter when you go everyone looks like they are happy.Like anywhere this comes from the top! and June lets everyone know they are special.Shanci the Matron also works well with all the staff and patients alike. A very good example was the 25th anniversay. They could have filled Chesterfield Football Ground with all the people that wanted to come. The atmosphere is always full of laughter. If or when I have to be looked after I hope its as good as Morton Grange. Love to all.

Without doubt the best care home that I have ever come across. My mother in law has recently become a resident of Morton Grange and having looked at over 18 care homes, Morton stood out head and shoulders above all the others. Superb staff who treat all their residents as individuals and the staff clearly love what they do.

Friday 31 December 2010

Some homes are fair some are good, but Morton Grange stands above within the group I would class as the centre of excellence for the care of the elderly. They have a staff group that are dedicated, experienced and comitted to ensuring the quality of life of their client`s is paramount, and that can only be achieved, by ensuring the delivery of care is individualised and tailored to the specific needs of the person. Morton Grange staff, have this ability to make families feel part of the team and assist you in dealing with what some feel as abandoning their loved ones. The homes cleanliness and facilities far exceeded my expectations, and to date, I have not heard any of the client`s or their families express any form of disatisfaction. My hat off to the proprietors and staff, and many thanks for the kindness and care shown and delivered to my parents.

I have been and worked in a lot of care homes over the years and Morton Grange is very special. All of the staff have positive attitudes and they are always very welcoming with a lovely smile on their faces. Nothing is too much trouble. The entertainment the clients get is second to none, always going out on trips or the staff putting shows on, there is always something happening and things for the clients to look forward to. I work in my local hospital and if someone asks me about a home I always recommend Morton Grange, It is a wonderful home, with extra special staff.

I have attended a great many functions at Morton Grange in the past year including the British, Indian and Filipino events. The amount of effort and planning which goes in to these is obvious and Sharon the activities manager does a fantastic job. I think it is great how many staff, their families, volunteers and relatives attend these functions. Every one at Morton Grange are very welcoming and there is a real family atmosphere. Although I am a visitor staff cannot do enough for me.

Wednesday 8 December 2010

I would like to recommend Morton Grange because my mother Doris (who is now 100 years old), has been there for a number of years. Before, she was in several homes around Nottingham of which none proved satisfactory. All of the staff at Morton Grange, including, cooks, cleaners, carers and management are in my opinion faultless. The regular entertainers and outings are great and I think the residents appreciate all of them. The fact that I and my sisters have moved my mother nearly 30 miles from our homes in order to be at Morton Grange speaks for itself.

It has been 1 year since my mum and dad have been at Morton Grange Care Home. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that it was best move i have ever made. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Nurses, Health Carers and all other staff as they are the frontliners to the running of a well organised and caring nursing team. I have never come across people who show so much dedication to their jobs. Well done all of you for being there for my mum and dad and making them feel at home. Also I would like to thank the Activity Lady, Sharon for making a special Apron for my mum. To alot of people it might not mean anything to them but with my mum being blind it has provided a sensorary stimuless. The apron has many different materials and tactile items attached to it giving my mum great satisfation. Well done Sharon for coming up with this idea! I would like to wish from all the family and Mum and Dad a very Merry Xmas and all the best for the New Year. God Bless! Maggie and Mark

I have now lived at Morton Grange for 19 months. I looked around care homes myslf with a family mmber and knew instantly that Morton Grange was the right place for me. I made frinds very quickly and easily. We enjoy lots of trips and activities, dominoes, bingo and knitting crafts being favourites of mine. We have regular entertainers here and many events - Strawberry fayre, Race night, Chinese new year, Indian Function and much more. I am sure people have pre-considered ideas about nursing care but my experience has been a very good one and i enjoy life to the full here.

I have been a resident at Morton Grange now for 5 1/2 years although i am much younger than most of the residents here i have a very full and happy life. We have a full time activities co-ordinator here and she has lots of fun and intersting ideas. We go out to lots of different place the zoo, garden centres, shopping trips and many more. I am also fortunate enough to go on holiday to Centre Parcs with a full time carer and other staff and we have a great time. Given circumstances i find myself in i am more than happy to be a resident here, the staff show extreme kindness and dedication and couldn`t be more content.

I moved to Morton Grange in 2006. I am a local lady living down the road in the village of Morton. When i first came it was a trial basis and i am still here. I enjoy the company of other residents and the staff are kind and helpful. I have been on lots of trips and enjoyed the many functions we have here. We have regular activitie and craft sessions and i am involved with most of these. We have lots of visitors here and some are now volunteers helping with gardening club, functions and activities. I feel safe and happy at Morton Grange and i am not at all lonely. We have ladies who come to day care and we all get on very well and enjoy each others company.

My mum is given loving care and attention. I feel she is in very good hands. The home is professional in its approach to caring for its residents and all staff appear to be trained to a high standard. Nothing is too much trouble. What more could you want for your mum, they`re brilliant.

My mother was a resident at Morton Grange, were at last she found all the nursing requirements necessary for someone who has dementia, in a caring, loving environment, where every member of the staff knows every resident `as a friend`. I live overseas and so phoned to enquire how my mother was and whomever answered the call immediately was able to tell me the medical, nutritional, and daily well being of her. There was no hesitation while the information was looked up in a book. The previous home was not up to my choice of standard and they could not cope with dementia. I walked into Morton Grange unannounced and was immediately made welcome and shown around, it struck me how fresh and cheerful everywhere looked and how content the residents were. Sadly Ivy Clay died earlier this year but I will always be thankful to June and Malcolm for all their kindness. I know that my mother lived her final years in the love and luxury she deserved. I truly believe Morton Grange deserves the Best Care Home Award, thank you, Chris Pinney

I have no hesitation in recommending Morton Grange. My mother continues to do really well at this home. Since I posted my comments last year she has developed problems swallowing. All the staff are so patient with her. For example, if she`s unable to eat her meal, they will keep trying until she does. I have just been on holiday for 10 days knowing that my mother would be well cared for. It`s such a relief knowing she was safe and in such a caring, kind and happy environment. When I visited tonight we also celebrated her birthday with a cake made by the kitchen staff. Morton Grange is like one big family.

My mother is a resident at Morton Grange in Derbyshire, I recommend Morton. Every one of the staff is genuinely and warmly caring to each of the residents. The nursing staff are very professional, taking great care of the details in medication and well being of each resident. It`s the over all atmosphere in the home that strikes one on entering a fresh and cheerful building. Every member of staff makes time to give a hug, hold a hand, the little things that make difficult times more comfortable. My mother is in the far stages of dementia, entering Morton when she was still ambulatory but now is mostly bed ridden. However seldom alone for some one of the staff will pop in to share a smile and check she is ok if she is resting in her room. I had cause to move her from the last home but I am so very grateful for that bad experience as it introduced me to such a wonderful home. With regret I am unable to visit once a week/month etc, as I live in the USA but when I do, I visit daily for 2 weeks and as my mother is unable to talk or move I sit in the living room with her and am able to observe all the daily routines. If you are looking for a nursing home or maybe have seen Morton but not quite decided. I can not praise all the staff enough for the compassion, care, and warmth. I can ring at any time and immediately be told of my mother`s situation, her health, diet, this is by whomever answers the phone and that person will always offer me the opportunity to speak to one of the nursing staff. Thank you.

Tuesday 9 February 2010

The family of Rene Wells would like to recommend,Morton Grange Nursing Home. Before mum went into Morton Grange, she had resided in two nursing homes in a very short space of time,in both homes mum was very unhappy, and the family was not happy with the care she was given. So we approached Morton Grange,on our first visit we were amazed at the cleanliness, the friendliness, and the food which was being given to the residents. Our dad decided this was where he wanted mum to be,has she had advanced stages of alzheimers and needed full nuring care,we were fortunate enough to be offered a room for mum with en-suite,and she has been there now happily, for almost six years.Unfortunally dad is no longer with us,mum suprisingly has out lived him, thanks to the care of Morton Grange. We know dad would still be happy with the care mum is receiving as we all are,Morton Grange go to great lengths to see the residents are happy and the families too,its never easy putting a member of your family in a care home, but if they must be in one,try to find the best like we did.

Thursday 31 December 2009

My mother Mrs June Keltie came to Morton Grange in February 2009 aged 87 in a continuing health care category and as a client with memory loss and eating disorder problems. The choice of Morton Grange came after alot of research and visits to local care centres within the Bakewell/Chesterfield area. Morton Grange has a very high percentage of clients who need close order twenty four hour care and supervision. I can honestly say that the high quality of care and attention given to my mother in that five month period last year made a profound difference to her quality of life as she approached the end of her life and also my ability to deal with the day to day changes that faced the family during a period of slow deterioration. The staff at Morton Grange really do care and not only about personal health and welfare but also about individuals clients personal appearance and peace of mind . They provide a total care facility leading to wellbeing both in the clients who stay at the carehome and also their families who worry and their relative. It is a culture within the organisation and i would recommend them sincerely as an organisation of excellence in terms of achieving a total care environment .

I would like to recommend Morton Grange, near Alfreton Derbyshire. Our Mother, who has dementia, has been in their care since April 2007 and we have found them to be truly client centred, caring of both the resident and their relatives. The Organisation takes great pride in the service it gives and is totally open and honest if any mistakes occur. We are wholly confident that this is the best possible place for our Mother, even though it is some considerable distance for both myself and my sister to travel to see her. We have not been able to find a comparable service more local to where either of us lives.

My son, daughter and I would like to recommend Morton Grange. The reasons for this is the staff treat the patients with respect and kindness and are always polite and friendly to visitors and family. The home is kept very clean and you can visit any time you wish. There is always lots of entertainment for patients and visitors and outings and trips in their minibus which is fully adaptable. The food and laundry are quite good I am happy with my husbands care in the home.

I can`t praise Morton Grange highly enough. The staff are wonderful - they make a real difference to both my mum and dad. But more importantly and I do think this is sometimes overlooked - they make a huge difference to us - their children. We go to bed at night with peaceful hearts and minds knowing that our parents are so well cared for. For us Morton Grange isn`t where our parents have gone to die it is where they have gone to live - Thank you Morton Grange xx

Morton Grange has a great reputation locally and if you take the time to visit it is not difficult to see why. The home is clean and well run, the staff are focused and friendly and the activities are second to none. Morton Grange has a full time activities co-ordinator who arranges a variety of daily activities. They also hold weekly thursday night social events with organised games and entertainment, as well as monthly themed fundraising functions to raise money to benefit the residents `wishing fund.` This contributes toward cost of trips, entertainment and activities resources. If you are looking for nursing or residential care in Derbyshire a visit to Morton Grange is a must.

I would like to recommend Morton Grange. My sister-in-law has been living at Morton Grange for nearly three years, and in all that time we have nothing but praise for the care she has received. I could write a book but suffice to say if ever we need a Care Home I hope Morton Grange has room.

Since recently moving into Morton Grange Care Home both mother and father have flourished and become very settled. This is due to the constant care and attention that they and the other residents receive from the friendly and dedicated staff.
