Ashwood is what every care/nursing home should be. A happy friendly atmosphere, where residents and their families are welcomed and invited to become involved in the activities. The staff are caring and interested and nothing is too much trouble. Standard of decor is excellent and residents can bring favorite items from home to personalise their room. When I am away my mother is in safe, caring hands and that I will be contacted if necessary.

My mother has lewy body dementia with Parkinson's disease, she is 89 years old. She has been in Ashwood since May 2014. I looked at several in the area and chose Ashwood, the care my mum is getting is fantastic, what wonderful people who do really go the extra mile for the residents. I am so impressed with everything about the home. It is a home, a proper home and they are like family.

Review of Ashwood Nursing Home on Monday 24 February 2014 by Sharon Harris (Relative of resident)

My mother sadly passed away at the beginning of February after living here since May 2013. The kindness, care and love my Mum received knew no bounds. All residents are treated as a big family. No-one is ignored. All staff know each individual person. The care my Mum received at the end of her life was wonderful. All staff on duty came to say goodbye to her with love and tears. She loved them and they loved her. Dana is an excellent manager over dedicated, loving staff. I am so content that my Mum spent her last few months there, I could not have wished for a better place.

Review of Ashwood Nursing Home on Sunday 8 December 2013 by David Cooke (Relative of care home resident)

My father was only at Ashwood for a brief period and sadly died while in their care. However, throughout that difficult period he and we, his family, were cared for to an exceptional standard by each and every member of staff that we encountered. The quality of personal care was exceptional from the moment my father arrived there from hospital. The standard of nursing and medical care was of the highest order. Each and every individual member of staff that we encountered was professional, polite, caring, diligent and above all, friendly. Whilst my father was cared for and nursed in his bedroom, we were impressed with the building, the facilities and the general standards of comfort and cleanliness throughout the whole of Ashwood House. Finally, we were helped through a very difficult few days at the end of my father's life. We will always be grateful for the support shown by the nursing staff, and in particular by Daniela, the Manager

The staff at Ashwood treat the residents as individuals and know their likes and dislikes. The family members are welcomed and kept up to date with any problems or health issues. Quarterly meetings between families, relatives and management are held and well attended, as are fund raising events such as BBQs, strawberry fair day. I know my mother is in good hands when I am away.

My mum came to Ashwood from hospital in a very frail and poorly condition of health. The manageress and staff have bent over backwards to look after mum. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum is bed ridden and needs feeding and washing, but she is very happy here. There are lots of activities for the residents and good choice of food. The home is spotless and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. A lovely home.

I would recommend this care home, as it is very clean and has a homely feeling, the staff are very caring and hard working, there are no fixed visiting times so you can visit when you like within reason. My mother has been a patient now for one year, she came here a very unwell person, but with the care of all the staff has turned herself around and is now a full time resident and likes it very much.

I have been a resident in this home for 6 and a half years. My sister has just passed away and also lived here for 6 years. We have been looked after with care and kindness. I would recommend it to my family and any other families looking for a home for a loved one. Food is very good. If the menu is not to your liking they will give you something different.

This home is full of caring, compassionate nurses and carers who do their job with integrity, passion and professionalism. The residents are, as a result, generally cheerful and always well cared for. There is never any offensive odour in the home. It is clean, light and attractively decorated and furnished. I find the nursing staff are very good and caring with my father. The manager is excellent, the nursing home has improved 100% since the new manager arrived, she listens and acts.

Review of Ashwood Nursing Home on Wednesday 17 April 2013 by Sarah H (Daughter of resident)

My mum is in Ashwood Nursing Home and has dementia. It was the most difficult time for myself and my brother looking at nursing homes as we could no longer look after mum. Ashwood treat my mum with total respect, and are always friendly to us when we visit mum. It always smells clean and my mum's room is very pleasant and clean. Daniella, the house manager is fantastic.

Review of Ashwood Nursing Home on Wednesday 17 April 2013 by Christopher C (Resident)

This home is run on the basis of excellent care, both from carers and nurses. The rooms are always immaculate in terms of cleanliness. The food is always hot and uses only top quality meat, fish and vegetables, and any type of dietary needs are dealt without any hesitation. On top of that, the staff are always doing different activities with the residents. Nothing is too much trouble, and all questions posed by relatives are always answered. From cleaner to manageress, all staff work exceedingly hard at all times, with the highest order of care, compassion and consideration.

Review of Ashwood Nursing Home on Monday 15 April 2013 by Lesley H (Daughter of resident)

The care and cleanliness are second to none. You walk in and it does not feel like or 'smell' like a care home. All the staff from the manager to the cleaning and catering staff all speak when I visit Mum, and they also provide good activities and outings which my mum is able to go on. My mum always said 'I never want to go in a home' but she is very happy where she is and settled, and so well looked after - in fact all the staff love her to bits.
