For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.548 for Stocks Hall Care Home, St Helens is calculated as follows:

      1. 4 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 4 Positive Reviews = 0.400

The word "Home" filled me with dread when the time came for my sister to go into care. I looked around at many and then found Stocks Hall in St Helens. The first impression when going in through the doors were extremely good. It was suggested my sister go in for a week or so to see if she settled in. It didn't even take a week. She settled in straight away. This is her "home" the word says it all. She is at home there she is extremely happy, the staff I consider as our extended family. You can you there anytime, and I do mean anytime of the night or day, you will find the staff helpful, friendly and always there to listen. I could not recommend this home highly enough. It is kept clean and tidy and always smells fresh. Activities go on as do trips out. She has even been on holiday in adapted accommodation, Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

This is a real "home" and so unlike the usual perception of a care home, that it is a pleasant surprise to anyone who visits or uses the service. Unique in the area in catering for younger (under 65's) onset of Dementia. Staff and surroundings create a relaxing, homely atmosphere, where clients are happy and visitors are always welcome. Easy to interact with staff and remain involved in client care. This home has enhanced our lives, living with different conditions.
