Located in a tree-lined street in an attractive residential area in Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne. Ascot House is ideally located close to local shops, amenities and public transport, making it ideal for residents who wish to be engaged in the local community and for visiting relatives. The home is also well placed for the Newcastle General Hospital providing a good location for people who are requiring short-term care following a period in hospital. We are a small friendly nursing home with flexible registration enabling us to support people throughout all stages of dementia, whether they require just support with daily living tasks or indeed require dedicated nursing intervention. We provide both short and long term care placements to 35 elderly people. Ascot House is a small friendly nursing home, caring for older people under the supervision of our home manager Tanya Dixon who has a wealth of experience in the care of older people with dementia. Tanya is supported by Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants in providing person centred care. The home is in keeping with its surroundings, formerly 3 Victorian houses that have been sympathetically converted into 1 care centre dedicated toward the care and maximising an individuals quality of life. The accommodation at Ascot House is laid out over 3 floors, and there is a wide choice in both communal living space and personal living space. Our bedrooms are attractively decorated and furnished and offer en-suite facilities. Our communal living space includes 3-day rooms and 2 dining rooms, which are all located on the ground floor of the property. A passenger lift links all floors. We benefit from a small-enclosed garden, which provides a safe and peaceful haven to residents wishing to spend time outdoors, this garden being largely made up of sensory-based plants and ornaments to maximise the benefits to our residents. The home has a dedicated activities co-ordinator who ensures that there is always plenty to do, through the provision of reminiscence and cognitive therapies and a wide range of other activities including arts and crafts, container gardening, cookery etc. Food is an important part of each residents care programme, and as such menus are planned in consultation with our home manager to ensure that they constitute an extension of a residents care plan rich in nutritional value whilst maintaining the theme of “Home Style” cuisine. If you are looking for a quality assured care home for yourself, a friend or a relative please contact our home manager Tanya Dixon for further details or to arrange a viewing of this reputable care home. |
