This Review Score of 8.300 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.5 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 3.8 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 8.300 for Abigail Lodge Care Home is based on 6 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.5 for Abigail Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.5

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.8 for Abigail Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 6 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 6 Positive Reviews = 0.600

      3. (6 Positive Reviews ÷ 60 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.200

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. This is my report after visiting for 3 years- four hours each day. One gets a good insight into the workings on the workings in the home. I would not nominate any 1 carer as they all deserve an "Oscar" for their devotion to the residents. I know it is hard work and exhausting and demanding. Believe me the residents are loved and cared for. Hugs, kisses and laughs are in abundance and plentiful. Luckily the new manager is a gem, very approachable, door always open, so caring to all staff included. Also we still have a deputy manager who loves and cares, also we are lucky to have them both. You know as I write this I am having a few tears as I know how lucky we are in this home and experience the atmosphere yourself. There but for the grace of God, so true. I believe in this home, residents are content, it is filled with love. Manager tells me there is always room for improvement "that's her."

My dad has been in Abigail Lodge for a year now and within this time I have been very satisfied that he is well cared for in every way. The staff are very attentive to his needs and have a very personable approach, giving him the utmost respect and retaining his dignity. The staff are also very supportive to myself and my family and have become our friends too, showing us support, empathy and understanding at this difficult time in our lives. Thank you.

My husband has been in this care home for 13 months now and I can honestly say I would never wish him to be anywhere else for nursing care. Abigail Lodge is like home from home as far as the love and caring goes. Its one big happy family. The staff are there for you straight away if there is any problem. My husband is kept clean, shaved and teeth always brushed. He is fed good food and always has plenty to drink. Clean clothes every day, the laundry is excellent as long as your name is on each item. My mother in law is in the downstairs part and she says the staff are all wonderful and they are.

I find that the company Four Seasons will go that extra mile for me and my family if I have any concerns with my brother. The carers are excellent in their job, and nothing is a problem for them. I feel that I must put this in writing as the home Abigail Lodge has exceptional staff.
