Since being resident here in 2009, my mother has changed from being reclusive and introvert, to a happy contented lady, who loves to chat and joke with the staff. Her 100th birthday was celebrated with a special cake baked in the kitchens there and balloons tied to her wheelchair. She appreciated her party with guests in the gracious dining room and said she would never forget such a happy time with her flowers and gifts from the staff. She loves also to sing with visiting choirs at Xmas. Great attention is paid to her lifestyle and comfort. Her room has a double aspect to country views. To quote her 'being here is like a lovely final stage of my life'. It does my heart good to see her so well cared for.

Parc-y-Llyn is a nice building set in attractive grounds and always seems to be a well managed and happy place. Much thought has obviously been given to the layout of the building where residents can choose the area they wish to be in according to their requirements. The staff are all extremely friendly, attentive and respectful to the residents and there is a good balance of male and female carers and nursing staff. There are no restrictions on visiting times, but good security measures are in place. The meals are excellent and well balanced. There is good mental stimulation for residents.

Always a happy, welcoming atmosphere, I feel I can drop in at any time of day. Lovely food, residents offered choices and always cups of tea for guests. Some good activities, singing, quiz, physical exercise. Lovely setting, nicely kept gardens and opportunities for short circular walks. Birthdays always celebrated with cakes and national/yearly events i.e. Royal Wedding, Jubilee, Christmas. Staff go to a lot of trouble to make these memorable events.

My mother was admitted for two weeks respite care and has wanted to stay ever since, that was 20 months ago. I have always said that if I need full time care when I reach her age, I would willingly want to go into Parc-y-Llyn. Excellent!
