Forth Bay Nursing Home

We were frightened when dad needed an emergency respite place, we thought it would be somewhere no one would want to be. How wrong we were! This is a homely, welcoming place, each member of staff is dedicated to the residents care but not just from a medical perspective, they really care!

Forth Bay Nursing Home

My wife has been in Forth Bay since 11th March 2015, so really quite a short time. However she seems to have settled well in the Dementia Unit. The staff are excellent and the unit is clean and secure. A slight criticism would be the limited activities - I've not seen much more than music and dancing, but then of course I am not there for all the time. Fortunately my wife loves music.

Forth Bay Nursing Home

My mum, Helen McEwan, was a resident at Forth Bay from September 2009 until April 2015 when she passed away. During her years there she was well cared for and loved by all the staff. They had activities and outings for the residents regularly which mum enjoyed until her health declined. I did not worry about her well being when I would leave to return to the US . Also I was always made welcome when I would visit mum twice a year for a few weeks. All of the staff were very nice. I had contact with the home while in the States and they always contacted me when necessary. I would recommend Forth Bay as a very caring home for your loved ones to be taken care of.

Forth Bay Nursing Home

My youngest brother was resident in the home for 4 years until his death early in December 2013. The care, kindness and support he was given could not have been better. He was not always easy to deal with but at no time did I ever find anything but extreme understanding from ALL staff - H Stocks unit. I was only able to visit him monthly but I never left for my 120 mile journey home without thinking he was receiving the best of care. My remaining brother and his family join me and mine in expressing our gratitude to you all. Five star care from one who was involved until retirement in the care sector.

Forth Bay Nursing Home

It was my mum's first care home after coming out of hospital. It was a temporary stay. My mum stayed at Forth Bay from 10th January to 19th February. The staff were very good. It was a well run home. It allayed my fears of my mum going into care due to bad stories in the press about cases of neglect in some care homes.

Fiona Day

Job Title: Registered Manager

Description:

As Manager of Forth Bay, Fiona leads her professional staff team in providing the highest level of residential and nursing care and support for those living at the home.

Fiona joined Forth Bay as a newly qualified Staff Nurse in 2001 and has since taken on a number of senior roles including Charge Nurse in 2003 and Deputy Manager in 2006. It is this in-depth knowledge of the home that has equipped Fiona well for the role of Home Manager, where she will be working hard to ensure that those in her care lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive.

‘I strive to give our residents the care and lifestyle they wish to have and endeavour to involve them in every aspect of their care.’

As well as spending time with residents and making sure that they are comfortable, safe and happy, Fiona sees it as an important part of her role to act as a mentor to her team. She firmly believes that a happy, fulfilled and motivated staff team will be in a better position to consistently deliver a high standard of care.

Away from work, Fiona enjoys a range of hobbies including arts and crafts and having lived in the region for over 30 years, she loves nothing more than taking in the picturesque local scenery whilst walking her beloved dog.
