This Review Score of 9.363 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.763 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 4.6 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 9.363 for Merino Court Care Home is based on 18 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.763 for Merino Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (171 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 215 Ratings = 4.763

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.6 for Merino Court Care Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 18 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 18 Positive Reviews = 1.800 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (18 Positive Reviews ÷ 60 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.600

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My mother has been at Merino Court for nearly three years since she needed additional care for advanced Alzheimer's. The previous home she had been in couldn't contain her and had used psychotropic drugs to sedate her. On entering Merino Court, all those medications were withdrawn, and her behaviour managed by staff very effectively. Merino Court has an excellent philosophy and ethos running through all its activities: that it is the residents' home and what they want to do should be accommodated as much as possible. This means not having set getting up times or bedtimes, freedom to roam around the units or to sit in the lounges. The only set times are mealtimes. Relatives are welcomed any time day or night, and invited to join in with whatever is happening in the home during their visit. The staff go the extra mile to care and support the residents in sometimes challenging situations. We have nothing but respect and admiration for the care my mother has received in her time at Merino.

My father spent four years in Merino Court. He had dementia. Staff at Merino Court were excellent. When he went in he was on various medication including anti psychotics. They were able to get him off these and vastly improved his quality of life. Care from staff was excellent. Over the four years that my father was a resident the facilities continued to improve, and garden upgrading is currently underway.

MY dad would not be here today if he had still been at his own house. The home has been a Godsend as my dad was such a private person, but with all the activities and the day trips, he likes to join in now. I have never had a problem as all the staff know my dad's likes and dislikes. There is good entertainment on. The recreation lady is so good at her job and the secretary keeps me right with my dad's paperwork.

My wife and I had our diamond wedding anniversary to celebrate on the 28th of October 2015. As my wife is the secure part of he home, we had to make a small party in the home.
That went wonderfully well and the family enjoyed it and also my wife. All the staff are the best and what a different that makes to my life, I know she is in good able hands.

My Mum moved in August 2014. She is happy and always up and about when I visit. I see staff and a management team that work hard and put in time and effort into making it 'home' for the residents. Very pleased with progress.

My mums been here for the last 6 months and has had the most fantastic attention during her stay. Because of the fantastic care the staff give to all residents we have had all our worries removed. The staff are absolutely brilliant, be it the girls on the floor areas to the medical staff, all are fantastic. The attention to residents details is awesome, nothing is left to chance. Like everyone else we were worried about putting a relative into a care home, luckily for us we got her into Merino Court. It has taken all the pressure off us as a family, she has settled brilliantly and we have absolutely no reservation about recommending Merino Court to anyone considering placing a family member here. Take my word for it, Merino Court is the best I have seen. They are THE No. !. If you are thinking about placing a relative here, you can do so without a fear in the world. They are fantastic.
