Review of Ardmaine, Newry, County Down by Carmel Monks (Daughter of Resident)
Thursday 15 November 2012
My father was one of the longest stay residents of Ardmaine Nursing home, he recently passed away. Daddy over his many years in Ardmaine was treated with the greatest affection, dignity respect and kindness. Ardmaine was his home, and the staff around him his family. Through his illness the staff rallied like a family and coaxed him back to good health. They always had time to chat to him, to share a story, to listen to what he had to say, engage with him about his early life, his adventures, they brought him to life when they encouraged him to tell his story. I can still see the affectionate stroke to the cheek as a carer chats and cajoles daddy, that is something I will never forget. My father had Parkinson's Disease, and dementia. If you are reading this with a view to finding the right place for your loved one, check it out and talk to other's with family there. We consider ourselves as a family very fortunate, and Blessed that our father was in the care of Ardmaine nursing home.
