L’Hermitage is a stunning purpose-built care home providing residential and nursing care for up to 41 elderly ladies and gentlemen in St Peter, Jersey. Located in the prestigious L’Hermitage Gardens Retirement Village and enjoying uninterrupted views to the sea L’Hermitage is one of Caring Homes’ finest services.

Inside and out, no expense has been spared to provide the very highest standards of care in quite sumptuous accommodation. Bedrooms and communal areas in this impressive two-storey home are furnished and decorated to exacting levels. Many rooms are also fitted with the latest in ceiling tracking systems which facilitate accessibility for people with mobility impairments. This enables us to support residents with more complex needs, including those requiring stroke care, cancer care or those living with varying levels of Parkinson’s disease, osteoporosis or musculoskeletal disorders amongst others.

L’Hermitage offers a full range of residential and nursing care support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. L’Hermitage operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, L’Hermitage’s manager has a qualified nursing background. The home is fully registered with the Health and Social Services and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

Wonderful carers, of which many are Polish, gave me good care. Looked after me very well.

My mother has been a resident at L'Hermitage for six months. She is happy and is being looked after well, which is a relief for me and my sisters. When the weather is warmer, we can take her for a walk in the grounds, which are lovely.

David Taylor

David Taylor is Home Manager at L’Hermitage and Beaumont Villa care homes, leading a dedicated team that provides specialist nursing and dementia care.

David has created a friendly and warm atmosphere at both homes, and he’s passionate about ensuring that each and every resident feels very much part of the family.

A dual qualified nurse, in the care of adults and children, David also holds the Leadership and Management in Care Services Award, a nationally recognised qualification awarded for knowledge and skills in managing Care Services.

Being manager of two care homes gives David a great deal of variety in his role and he gains real satisfaction from about getting to know residents and their families. David works with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the needs of the people he cares for are being met. This includes working closely with the local authority and Jersey Health Service, and striving to constantly promote excellence at L’Hermitage and Beaumont Villa.

David is extremely committed to strong leadership and he’s keen to champion ‘being the best’ with his staff, and to enthuse them to routinely ‘go the extra mile’ for the people in their care.

A varied career has seen David work in Saudi Arabia as a Flight Nurse, repatriating sick and injured people from around the world, as well as working in Air Traffic Control for the RAF. More recently he has gained extensive experience of managing care homes up and down the UK.

Outside work David is a keen breeder and trainer of Newfoundland dogs. He currently has six Newfoundlands two of which have recently qualified for Crufts. The dogs are trained in water rescue and David enjoys showing people their skills and bringing in photos for all the residents to see.
