It's always worrying to let a close relative go into a home, especially when you have looked after them yourself at home for many years. But the reception I had from the home manager when I approached them soon allayed my fears. The time throughout her stay (she's been there nearly 2 years) despite her physical and mental deterioration has been brilliant. The staff are loving and caring and it is just like a home from home. It's almost as good as caring for her myself.

This is a purpose built home, set in nice grounds, with every room having ensuite facilities. The ethos of Manor Gardens is that this is the resident's home not a home for residents to live in. This is shown by an open door policy for residents and their family and friends. All are encouraged to join in the home community. There is continuity of staff who are also friendly and helpful to everyone.

Recommended by Adult Social Care Officer, Eastbourne, who considered, after visiting my wife in Kent and Sussex Hospital, discusssing her needs with consultants and nursing staff and how at my age (80 years) I could not look after her alone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at home. Having visited manor gardens he correctly recommended my wife being sent there. How right he was!!
