Review of Sunrise of Winchester

I generally view care homes with trepidation, if not dread! Sunrise is a huge exception. It is not just the high quality surroundings (more like a 5* hotel than a care home)but also the atmosphere within. The staff are attentive and caring and there are a range of activities that ensure mental and physical activity is maintained as far as practicable. If only all care homes were the same!

Review of Sunrise of Winchester

My husband spent 30 days in Sunrise for respite care. I felt the home was equipped and run to a very high standard and my husband was well looked after. I was able to go on a much needed holiday with no worries. I and other visitors were made very welcome. Unfortunately there was an outbreak of Noro Virus while he was in. It was handled well and contained successfully. My daughter's assessment 'It is like a stationary cruise ship'.

Job Title: Reminiscence Co-ordinator

Description:

I've worked in care since 2003 and joined the Sunrise of Winchester team in April 2013. It has been an exciting, rewarding and a fulfilling experience, full of opportunities. I am really passionate about working with the residents and their families in Reminiscence to make every day meaningful. Each new day is different and full of surprises. The joy that I get from a resident who has a moment of lucidity is amazing, from playing a piece on the piano to reminiscing about their past. Each individual makes my day worthwhile, and a smile and a hug completes it!
