Deer Park View Care Centre is a prestigious purpose built care home located opposite one of the largest royal parks, Bushy Park in the heart of Teddington.

Deer Park View provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 60 elderly people. Laid out over three storeys, each floor is self contained, ensuring that residents enjoy close care and support – creating three linked communities under one roof. The specialist dementia care provision has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s standards, which are widely acknowledged as providing the best living environment for people living with dementia. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation. Each bedroom features a memory box by its front door, where mementos from a resident’s life help to personalise their room and also remind staff and visitors of the individual’s life story.

The Review Score of 9.152 for Deer Park View Care Centre is based on 14 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.685 for Deer Park View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (120 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 168 Ratings = 4.685

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.467 for Deer Park View Care Centre is calculated as follows:

      1. 14 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 14 Positive Reviews = 1.400 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (14 Positive Reviews ÷ 60 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.467

My 100 year old father went to Deer Park View for three weeks respite care. From the first contact with the receptionist all the staff, carers, nurses, management, admin and cleaners were unfailingly helpful and approachable. They immediately remembered who I was. The carers regularly took my father for walks at Bushy Park and helped him recover. I cannot fault the care and atmosphere.

During our first month at this Nursing Home, every member of staff has acted in an exemplary manner, from the Manager through the Nursing and Support staffs.

The Home is efficient, sensitive and most of all kind to patients and relatives alike. The attention to detail is remarkable.
The diligence with which patient care needs are delivered is admirable.

What could have been a traumatic transition for my wife was beautifully handled. I cannot overstate my admiration for the whole team.

My husband has only been here for two months. I cannot praise the staff to highly. They are caring and kind, always smiling and happy. Everything is done properly. I can go home and know my husband will be looked after, and not worry he is being neglected. My husband is very happy here, and has a rapport with staff. We waited six months to get here.

I am very happy to write an excellent review for the care of my mother at Deer Park View. My mother had severe dementia and the nursing team on the second floor, led by two sister carers were very caring, compassionate, friendly, approachable and always very professional. I have never had a single moments concern about the care my mother received, including her terminal care. This is a very well run home with manager that provide an extremely high level of compassionate care for all the family.

My father was recently admitted to Deer Park View Care Centre which was a very stressful transition for the family members. We were not only very impressed by the high quality of care and incredible support for my father in the transition period, but we found it immensely reassuring to have some complex family issues dealt with so smoothly by the manager. In fact the main reason we chose Deer Park View was because of the managers' communication skills. Her wisdom, knowledge and excellent leadership skills have a ripple on effect to the staff members. Every staff member that we came in contact with seems to be friendly, happy in their role and so willing to provide everything possible to make my father comfortable and safe. We feel certain that my father is in a high quality care home and that he is in very safe and capable hands.

I am very impressed with the high standard of care given to my partner. He has integrated well in his first complete year there. The care home is of a very high standard in the choice of fixtures and fittings. It feels very inviting, comfortable lounges, en-suite rooms, art displayed, flower arrangements, regular activities daily, in-room TV and telephone. It is a very lucky find for me and for my partner and much appreciated.

This home which used to have several short comings has been greatly improved by the arrival of a new manager about two years ago. The staff are now well trained and dedicated, my wife who has Parkinson's and other complications is well looked after and enjoys some of the activities. A rigorous schedule of pills is adhered to with only very occasional hiccups. I am made very welcome when I visit.

Deer park View an open door policy which is very comfortable to work with. Reception is always welcoming, friendly and upbeat. My mother is settled and is cared for wonderfully by the staff. The nursing team are particularly good at picking up any issues that arrive with her health. They are very good at picking up on mood changes. I have always spoken highly to friends and family of the excellent care she receives.

From the minute I visited Deer Park View I knew it was the home for my father's needs. It is superbly run and a fine manager sets the tone for a first class nursing home. All the staff care sincerely for their patients and also have time to show compassion for the relatives.

My friend had dementia and is therefore on the top floor of Deer Park View. Because I live near I visit very regularly and never fail to be impressed by the care taken of Jean and the other residents. They are always clean and well dressed. There are sometimes 5 of the care workers helping to take them into meals. They have infinite patience. I am lucky to have found Deer Park View.

My mum moved here a year ago after she could no longer manage to live at home. We were naturally anxious at first. The staff took time to explain how mum was settling and reassured us. Nutrition and hydration are well managed. There is a varied programme of activities which residents are encouraged to join - weekly cinema is very popular. Bushy Park is across the road and Kingston a short walk away.

Description:

Having worked in healthcare since the age of 17, I have a wealth of experience and qualifications. I was keen to join Caring Homes due to the hands-on style of the senior management team. I have since been recognised with two awards for excellence and have been nominated on three occasions.

I take particular pleasure from using my extensive nursing and managerial knowledge to make a positive difference to the lives of those in my care. I encourage family involvement through a culture of open communication, which has contributed to the excellent reputation that our home has developed in the local area.

I place the wishes of residents at the heart of the care provided at Deer Park View, working closely with my Care Team to develop a personalised care plan with each resident, catering for their specific needs and ensuring that they have choice and control over how their care is delivered.

With the home overlooking Bushy Park, a large open space renowned for its wildlife, I love the countryside feel of life at Deer Park View. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching TV and spending time with my family.
