Review of Amherst Court
Lovely, warm and caring establishment. My family and I are secure in the knowledge that our Dad is being well cared for and is completely safe. Amherst Court involve the residents in many activities and is extremely open and welcoming to family and visitors. I cannot recommend Amherst Court highly enough. Last Christmas was our first experience here and the day was made very special by all the staff.

Job Title: Health and Wellbeing Advisor
Sophie has been a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council since qualifying as a Nurse in Mental Health in 1996. Her experience mainly centered on rehabilitation for those with complex mental health needs including dementia, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Sophie has spent a considerable part of her career initiating and leading training programmes including NVQ’s and training days within the Health and Social Care Industry and has designed training material for accredited training. In this role she has won awards for customer service and achievement rates of delegates. Sophie has extensive experience of residential care home settings having delivered management training and assessment in over 100 residential homes in Kent.
Sophie has sat as a Trustee for a local infrastructure support charity, and has been instrumental in forging partnerships between organisations, having also assisted to lead a company merger.
As a Project and Development Manager for 5 years, Sophie has set up a Conference Centre, from market research to proposal stage through to its launch. She has also written tenders and bids for the charity she was employed by and led the innovation team.
Sophie is currently a member of BANT (British Association of Nutritional Therapists) and has already delivered a number of Nutritional Training sessions for staff as part of a health and wellbeing initiative. She is already making links with supplement companies with the view to utilising their educational research and possible partnership potential.
Job Title: Admiral Nurse Avante Care and Support
Stephen Mason joined the Practice Development Directorate in November 2012 working across Avante Care and Supports residential care and support services. The role involves supporting the transition for residents from home to our care homes for the dementia “journey”, supporting families and staff teams in dementia care and support. The role also involves supporting health and social care colleagues and those in the third sector who support Avante Care and Support.
Job Title: Head of Pharmaceutical Care and Clinical Standards
Anne has been appointed Head of Pharmaceutical Care and Clinical Standards for all of Avante Care and Supports care homes.
Anne is a passionate multi disciplined professional whose work ethic and purpose is to be someone who helps to make a real difference to people and their care.
Anne is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society a PHWsI I.P Post Grad (Dementia) and recently designed an audit for low dose antipsychotic medication in Primary Care and went on to re-evaluate dementia patients in GP practices, with a view to withdrawal of these medications while at the same time working very closely with care homes. The close working with care homes in Medway meant that Anne was able to implement changes, to prescribing and deal with behaviours that challenge in Dementia.
The results of this have formed the basis of paper under review, prior to acceptance for national publication later this summer (2012).
Anne is an Independent Prescriber who has a special interest in care home Medication Management and Dementia and she holds a Post Grad Certificate in this subject at Masters Level. Anne is passionate about the care of older people and those who become residents in care comes and has been involved in the Institute of Health’s Dementia Call to Action.
As a member of the multi disciplinary South East Mental Health Forum whose aim is to share good practice and inform innovative practices Anne is constantly updating her own practices and knowledge of those practices used by others.
During her employment at Medway PCT Anne in conjunction with Public Health was responsible for the roll out of the Flu Pandemic Operational Plans for NHS Medway and the Influenza Vaccination Plan for H1N1.
