My mother was admitted to The Water Mill in April 2012, at the age of 91. after my father had looked after her at home for approximately 15 years, latterly with daily Social Care Assistance, with her Vascular Dementia getting steadily worse. This caused him, amongst other things, to get very little sleep, and he finally had to accept that he could no longer care for her at home, with his own health starting to fail. Dad passed away in July this year, aged almost 95, his body totally worn out from looking after Mum. He did, however, pass away content in the knowledge that Mum was in a much safer environment than he had been able to provide at home. The Water Mill is a wonderful place for those with advanced dementia. The Administration staff have always been available to listen and to advise, and the care staff have been excellent and extremely caring. We really do feel that Mum is being treated with the utmost respect there, despite all her frailties. We would recommend the Home to anyone with family members suffering from Dementia.
