Job Title: General Manager
Description: Windsor Street is a recently commissioned 80 bedded Care Centre with specialist residential Dementia Care and General Nursing units. Residents are looked after by a highly dedicated team of well qualified and experienced nurses, carers, administrators and ancillary staff. They are led by the General Manager who is supported by a Head of Care and a team of Care Leaders. Riekie Jacobs was appointed as General Manager on 8 July 2013. He has more than 10 years experience as a Registered Mental Nurse having received a Bachelors degree in Nursing at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Riekie has been working in a variety of specialties across the private sector since his arrival in the UK in 2003. Riekie initially worked in an a male psychiatric intensive care ward as staff nurse for 18 months years before moving on to a Deputy Ward Manager role in 2005. Since 2008 Riekie has held a number of Managerial roles within the care sector, including Head of a Dementia Unit and Regional Business Support Manager for an independent care company. Riekie sets high standards of conduct and performance for himself and his staff team and believes in team work. Riekie was also part of launching a successful Butterfly Program, a nationally recognised auditing and accreditation program for good practice in dementia care at one of his previous care homes. Specialisms As well as qualification as a Registered Mental Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Riekie also holds an NVQ level 4 qualification in Leadership and Management for Care Services. Riekie also has a special interest in Dementia Care and other neurodegenerative disorders and has recently completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Neuropsychiatry from the University of Birmingham.
