My Dad enjoyed his stay with Clovelly House, we loved seeing a video of him having a dance and getting envolved. The staff were very friendly and caring which was a big piece of mind for our family, the food also smelt very good when we visited Dad.

My mum goes to Clovelly House for daily respite care once a week and has been for almost two years. She enjoys going and enjoys her weekly respites too if I go on holiday. The staff are amazing and so friendly and caring. They welcome her every week and always lay on good entertainment and things for
the residents to do most days. The place is spotlessly clean and it has lovely gardens for them to walk around/sit in. I always feel relaxed knowing my mum is being looked after.
I would highly recommend Clovelly House for anyone looking for a Care Home for their loved ones.

My family are very grateful for the care, respect and dignity shown to my mum.
I'm always greeted with smiling faces and kept updated with any concerns, knowing that the manager and staff will answer my questions.
It's lovely to hear about the entertainment where staff are joining in interacting
with the residents.
The home is clean and comfortable and has a warm atmosphere and the food is varied and well prepared.
I would highly recommend Clovelly to my friends and family.

My mother is a VIP in Clovelly and has been for about 3 years. She regards Clovelly as her home and will tell everyone she comes into contact with how much she loves it there, if she's happy then I'm happy too.

Covelley seems to be homely for the residents, and they enjoy the entertainment provided. We have had a few hiccups of which always gets put right in a very timely manner. They keep me informed of any problems or worrys so I can help sort them. The staff are always polite and welcoming to all visitors.

My uncle is a resident at Clovelly House and yesterday he had a fall and had to be admitted to hospital. The staff at the home were amazing and dealt with everything in a professional and very caring manner. I was contacted and informed of what had happened and I went to stay with my uncle whilst waiting
for the ambulance. The staff on duty (although at there busiest time) kept coming to check on my uncle and me. The senior on duty went above and beyond, she stayed on until the ambulance arrived and dealt with them and ensured they had all relevant information, and when he was taken to the hospital she then had to complete all the relevant paperwork. I left around 10.20pm and she was still there. My uncle was fine and discharged back to the home the next morning. Knowing that my uncle is so well taken care of gives me so much peace of mind. A lovely home and amazing staff.

My mum has been in Clovelly for over a year now so my review is not solely for February 25 but from the time she entered her 'new home'. Mum never complains about her care and only has good words which she freely offers me without any prompting. She regularly says "you know they're very good to me here".
She is happy in her environment, loves the fun Fridays with music and enjoys crafting with one staff member in particular, I comment on the little things she's made. She enjoys the food and never says she wants to go to her old home. I'm always pleased to see mum, she is always well presented and her bedroom is beautiful. She has her hair done weekly and nails regularly. Clovelly arrange outgoings for the residents and include family members if they wish. I wouldn't place my mum anywhere else.

My mum moved to Clovelly House earlier this year and has settled in extremely well. She is happy, comfortable, and so very well looked after. She loves the entertainment and enjoys the crafting activities, as well as the days out now and again. She mentions the lovely food every time we visit and can't
praise the staff enough for their care and attention. It's peace of mind for us all knowing she is happy and content, getting the very best care from all the wonderful staff there.
Thank you all.

My mum and our family have been made to feel very welcome from the very start. Clovelly House feels like home and the staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble and they are very obliging.
My opinion has been sought regarding my mum's care and I feel listened to.
I feel my mum is treated as
an individual and her specific needs are taken into consideration.

I work as a physiotherapist in the community and I see care homes every single day. faces. I am hugely grateful for everyone at Clovelly.

My granny moved to Clovelly House in 2023 and has loved it from the moment she got there. She looks forward to the activities and entertainment each week, especially the arts and crafts which she enjoys sharing with us when we visit. The staff are brilliant and always attentive to her every need! Granny
enjoys the food each day, especially the freshly cooked cakes! We are always welcomed when visiting by both the staff and other residents, and recently she has enjoyed spending her first Christmas amongst her new friends.
Thank you.

My husband was to start with going in Clovelly two days a week, but when it became too much for me to look after him at home with Alzheimer's, this was April 2022, I decided for him that he would go into Clovelly House. He settled in well and often told me 'I like living here' which made me feel after
the guilt complex happier. I have great pleasure in all the staff, they have been so friendly to my husband, myself and all the family, always pleased to see me and offer me refreshments and meals if I was there at lunch time and tea time, which was excellent. My husband did not always join in the activities, but he liked watching. I have only lovely memories of the home who looked after him to the end. Thank you to everyone from the management, carers, kitchen staff lovely food and cakes, cleaners, always lovely and clean. I cannot thank you enough for making my husband's stay at Clovelly very pleasant, and mine when I visited him. Thank you, thank you!

Mum moved to Clovelly in April 2023 when she was unable to manage on her own at home. She was immediately made to feel welcome and loved joining in all the activities - including the weekly singer and craft sessions. She especially enjoyed the visits from the ponies and ducks and the outings the most
recent to a local garden centre. Mum says the food is great and if she doesn’t like something, which is not very often, there is always an alternative that can be offered, as all food is cooked on the premises She particularly likes the Sunday roast and enjoys choosing what she is going to have for breakfast as well as the freshly baked cakes. They hold regular meetings for their VIPs (the residents) and friends and relatives when they welcome feedback and suggestions. Mum loves her new home at Clovelly and we have peace of mind knowing that she is happy, well looked after, and safe.
A big thank you to all the staff at Clovelly who do an amazing job.

Mum has been a resident of Clovelly House since early 2022. The care is exceptional; it feels as if the carers and all staff have made an effort to really know Mum, and her care is very much personal to her. She has choices with regard to how much she wishes to socialise, and she is given her own space
to be private. The varied entertainment programme is excellent and days out are an option and well planned. Mum's room is cosy and recently redecorated and looks out on lovely gardens. As a visitor, I have always felt welcomed by the team. I would happily recommend Clovelly House to any family looking for residential care for their loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.619)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.619) out of 10 for Clovelly House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.794 for Clovelly House is calculated as follows: ( (123 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 155 Ratings = 4.794
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clovelly House is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
