Dad has dementia, so staff would ask him him he wanted to go into the dining room or sit in the chair, but he always said, "no". They would never pursue this so he didn't get out of bed at all for the 4 weeks he was there. His mobility has always been a problem, but they have made this worse through their lack of perseverance.

I have worked in the care sector since 2005. I first started as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities, then became a CQC-registered manager in 2009. Since then, I have managed various care settings, including domiciliary, supported living, residential and nursing before Gildawood Court.
I enjoy the variety which each day brings at a care home. It is my responsibility to ensure that our residents receive the best care possible, that they are listened to and that their needs are met. It is also really important that my staff are supported in their role to assist our residents. It is a team effort, and we all need to be working together to ensure the development of the home is the best it can be for its residents, relatives and staff.
