She was welcomed but at first was a little reserved due to new surroundings. Its good to see how she's settled and enjoys the community activities. Its wonderful to see a smile on her face. The staff are very approachable, the activity coordinator is doing an amazing job engaging with all the residents.

My mother has resided at Abbeywell Court for 12 months now and in that time she has been well looked after. The rooms provided are clean and tidy. She seems very content living there.
The staff are friendly and helpful whenever I visit and they are organised with the daily care of the residents.
The
management and nurses keep me informed of any issues that may arise with her care.
The fact that from day one she settled into the home is peace of mind for myself.

This home is fantastic!

The quality of care is exceptional and the staff are fabulous, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. The activities and entertainment provided for the residents is varied and engaging from playing games, singing, or having a massage. On birthdays, a cake is made

and a party atmosphere is used to celebrate the birthdays of the residents. Sometimes a singer will serenade the staff, family and residents. There are always some great fundraising events going on, which family and residents can join in.

The home works closely with other NHS professionals to provide round the clock care and family are kept informed about any personal or health changes. Mum is doing very well in this home and it is because of the wonderful staff and management. Our family would recommend this home to anyone.

My father has been at Abbeywell Court for a little over a year. Since being there, my Dad has had a lot of medical issues that have always been dealt with in a compassionate and professional manner. Even when my Dad has needed to go to hospital, there has been a member of staff who has stayed with him
and our family are really grateful for that. I am glad that we chose Abbeywell for our Dad.

Mum has resided at Abbeywell Court for approximately for 3years now. In that time mum has been well cared for her safety maintained and treated with dignity at all times. Mum enjoys the food and drink provided and also joins in with activities that are provided on a regular basis. We are kept informed
regularly on mums health needs and feel involved in any decision making.
The care home in the last 12 months has undergone a makeover fresh decor carpets flooring soft furnishings etc and this has made the environment much more welcoming, comfortable and relaxing for residents staff and visitors.

My mum has been a resident at Abbeywell Court Care Home for four years, and throughout this time we have felt nothing but reassurance and gratitude. Leaving a loved one in someone else's care is never easy, but Abbeywell Court has given our family complete peace of mind.
The staff care for my mum with
genuine love, kindness, and respect, ensuring she is always treated with dignity. The nursing team are exceptional, responding quickly and professionally to any health concerns, which is incredibly reassuring for us as a family.
The daily activities bring so much joy and meaning to the residents' lives, and seeing my mum engaged and smiling means more to us than words can say. Lonelia, the activities coordinator, is absolutely wonderful and brings warmth and happiness to every day.
Both Managers are always approachable and supportive, and it is comforting to know there is always someone willing to listen and help. Abbeywell Court truly feels like a caring community,

Mum seems quite settled at the home. She is washed and appropriately dressed every day.
Her bedroom is in need of refurbishment, which will be done soon, but it is kept warm, clean and tidy.
The care staff are lovely, friendly and attentive. The entertainment lady is brilliant and gets most of the
residents involved in activities; my mum, however, would probably benefit from more 1-1 time. There is a singer on at least once per month and also petting animals occasionally. There are regular raffles, bake sales and themed events. There is a small garden where residents can sit out in warmer weather and also do some gardening.
The care home is always clean, has good security and safety measures in place.

To be honest your service is excellent, the carers in the main very good understanding and pro active.

The solo time for a carer in the day room is less good as 1 person cannot see all residents and the time is often utilised to fill in details on their devices meaning full care is unable to be performed.

Apart

from this the home is mostly excellent and individual carers also in the main excellent.

The hands on care by care staff is great always respectful and with dignity and empathy. However, ongoing longstanding issues with communication from senior staff and management makes the experience a tad frustrating.

My husband and I cared for our neighbour until he needed full-time care. I have worked in care for over 40 years and have seen both good and bad. Abbeywell is exceptional, it is very well run by a fabulous team. Everyone on the staff team is caring, kind and professional.
If you want a nursing home
with all the bells and whistles, this isn't it, but if want somewhere that is clean, comfortable and where all the staff will treat you or your loved one with kindness, dignity and respect, you cannot go wrong with Abbeywell. We are kept informed of our neighbour's needs ( he has no family so we are classed as his next of kin) by the wonderful nurses and management. Nothing is too much trouble. 5 stars.

When my sister arrived at Abbeywell Court 4 years ago her behaviour was very challenging but this was managed well. Her needs were met in a kindly and compassionate manner. It was good to see that there were activities tailored to my sister's needs, even after her comprehension deteriorated greatly.
She was always included in the entertainment in the lounge. The furniture was very tired indeed. I was not 'next of kin' and would have liked emails to keep me up to date with regulations, particularly during Covid.

Overall, the home is a pleasant place to visit.
The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Special mention to the activities coordinator - she is very engaging with the residents/my mum. She is interested and stimulates them through being attuned to their needs and providing activities and materials
- games, dolls, etc - all appropriate for someone with dementia.
Thank you to the activities lady and all the staff team!

My mum has been at Abbeywell for 14 months, we had quite a few setbacks at first and I had quite a few meetings with the manager. However the last three months have been wonderful. The staff are regular, permanent staff and they are happy, polite and can't do enough for mum and us as a family. They
know mum and us as a family and our needs and likes. The entertainment and outings are outstanding and we have had two wonderful birthdays with mum here, made really personal with banners cakes drinks and birthday cake. Can't comment on food as we have never seen moms meals but she is really well looked after with drinks whenever we are there.

My mom moved to Abbeywell right at Christmas time and I was so concerned how she would settle as she really had no idea she was in a home environment, I need not have worried, all the staff and management at this home are outstanding. My mom can be challenging in behaviours and they have shown patience
and coaxed her to allow help when needed, she loves getting her hair done and her mood has lifted so much since coming here.
Sadly, mom can’t remain as I live 300 miles away and I’m moving her closer to me to share precious time before dementia takes her away. But I would recommend this home to everyone.
Thank you all.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.301) out of 10 for Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.451 for Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.451
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
