With a large, landscaped garden for residents to enjoy, a therapy dog named Archie, and various features within the home – including a social café, activities room, and traditional pub – Shire Hall is a place where residents thrive.

I could not think of anywhere better than Shire Hall for my aunt. From staff to the warmth of the people who come and go. It is the most welcoming, friendly, caring, beautiful place, and I know my aunt loved it as did we.

The day my daughter and I visited Shire Hall to discuss my wife moving to the home - we were greeted by the reception with warm welcome (coffee and barabrith). My mother came to Shire Hall last week. It was quite an anxious time for me to say the least, but I need not have worried because after visiting my mother on a few occasions I could clearly see how welcoming and caring all the staff are. Nothing is too much trouble and my mother is treated with such
respect. She is settling in well and taking part in some of the numerous activities on offer. It feels like a family home and I don't think I could ask for any more than that.

Mum has only been at Shire Hall a week but I feel reassured that she is in the best place for her care and attention.Everyone is so lovely and on hand to help and mum seems to be settling in nicely.It's like a family hotel.

My mother has been a resident at Shire Hall since early October and I cannot speak highly enough of it. It was a very stressful decision to move her into residential care but it has been such a positive experience for all of us. A huge thank you goes to the whole team for making the process so smooth.
The surroundings and facilities at Shire Hall are lovely and all of the staff are so engaged, caring and kind. Nothing is too much trouble and my mother's happiness and wellbeing is a genuine priority. Visiting is a pleasure -- the downstairs coffee shop is a fantastic asset. My mother enjoys all of the activities, especially having her hair done in the salon every week. She settled in from day 1 and is far happier here than she was at home, which is a huge relief and comfort for the whole family.

Every visit is always very friendly staff are very welcoming. From the receptionists and all the carers, kitchen staff, I cannot fault them; they go above and beyond, and I have peace of mind knowing how well my auntie is being cared for.

Mum has been a resident at Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff for a year and the care and support has been consistently excellent, with early response to any symptoms of illness, friendly and caring staff with virtually no turn over. Housekeeping are great. The facilities and activities are fantastic,
and mum is living with enjoyment, and well, and happily. My grateful thanks to management, activities, reception, catering and support staff. You not only care for mum but support me too.

Shire Hall is warm, welcoming and friendly and the carers are kind. It is still early days but I believe my husband has now accepted that this is his home and he seems content living here. The garden in particular is delightful and I try and make sure we spend some time relaxing there, weather permitting!

When her oldest friend heard that Mum had gone into a home, she said "god help the staff". It's a testament to them that her last 6 months were as unproblematic as they were. The entire ground floor crew, thank you. So many worked so hard to make her comfortable, but I must mention a few names. Often
during a visit, Mum would ask me to guess who had popped into see her that day from the first floor? The answer was always the same, one particular member of staff! Another staff member, whose smile can light up even the dimmest of rooms. Her kindness was always appreciated, she gave dignity in the most undignified of circumstances & tempted her appetite with Blackcurrant Jam & Watermelon. And another member of staff, who Mum described as a natural gentleman, saying that if there were more people like him, the world would be a better place. And it would. And last. But by no means least, another particular staff member. Mum felt safe in your care & heard with her face cupped in your hands. She paid you the ultimate in compliments, that she was a hard worker. Thank you.

Dad arrived at the beginning of June from the moment he arrived all the staff from reception, housekeeping, laundry, carers and nurses have been very caring and attentive, always checking how he and we as a family are. We are very happy Dad is under the care of Shire Hall staff.

I am totally happy with the care my mother receives at Shire Hall. This is the second home she has lived in and the difference in her mood, general health etc. is stark. I no longer worry about whether she is being well taken care of. I must mention the amazing staff at Shire Hall who are caring, attentive
and always concerned about the well-being of my mother and other patients. Thank you to a few members of staff in particular and everyone on the second floor who give their all to their important role. I wish I knew everyone's names. I am grateful to every one of them.

I am so proud of the team here, having won several awards at both the National and Wales Care Awards. My aim is for Shire Hall to continue to be one of the leading providers of relationship-centred care in Cardiff.
