Savvy Care Homes Reduce Energy Bills |
|
|
Date of article: 19-Jun-09 Lamps & Lighting Ltd has recently sold its 10,000th, energy saving, D-tect unit. The cleverly designed unit integrates passive microwave technology with a lighting level sensor, which combined, allows most fluorescent and compact fluorescent light fittings to reduce their individual energy consumption by 81%. The D-tect unit emits low level microwaves into an adjustable radius which when disturbed by the presence of a person triggers the luminaire to switch on instantly. Taking energy efficiencies one step further the luminaire will not switch on when there is sufficient natural light. Although the D-tect unit has proven itself to be extremely popular in Care Home circles, Lamps & Lighting's Business Development Manager, Leigh Hudson, said: “We have promoted the D-tect unit to most large scale Assisted Living, Care Home, and Sheltered Accommodation providers in the UK and achieved a great deal of success. There is substantial pressure on all organisations to reduce costs wherever possible and I am proud that Lamps & Lighting has been able to provide an innovative, high technology, solution to reducing energy costs. What we need now is for those Care Homes, which haven’t installed the D-tect, to sit up and take notice – there are tangible savings to be gained very quickly”. Lamps & Lighting can offer assistance with energy efficient environmental solutions to Care Homes looking for guidance on low carbon lighting technologies.
