AKW support William Merritt DLC, Leeds

As leading providers of specialist showering, kitchen and daily living solutions, AKW MediCare strive to improve and support independent living for the disabled and elderly. When recently approached to offer such support plus assist a worthwhile charity, AKW were therefore more than happy to oblige.

Based within St Mary’s Hospital Leeds, the William Merritt Disabled Living Centre offers free and impartial information and advice and an assessment service on a wide range of equipment. Providing such worthwhile facilities offers individuals the opportunity to examine and use equipment locally which will inevitably help them around their own homes.

Given budgetary constraints of a charity certain facilities of the centre had become slightly tired. The donation of a new Worcester kitchen and level access bathroom by AKW has since given the centre a refreshing addition to an essential and much used area.

With the Government strategy to roll out Centres of Independent Living by 2010 in each locality, centers such as the William Merrit Centre are crucial to helping vulnerable people regain there much needed independence.
