Sahara Homes, specialists in looking after adults with complex care needs, including learning and physical disabilities, have spoken of their delight at seeing one of their directors receiving the prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement in Care Award’ at the Hilton Metropolitan last month.
The 14th National Care Awards saw care professionals from around the country gather on the 23 November, at which a panel of three judges decided that operations director Alan Betts was a worthy recipient of the award, stating: “We have chosen Alan because of his journey from start-up as a hands-on carer at the age of 16 to now be a hands-on operations director. He showed inspirational quality and understanding of how to apply person centred care in the true meaning of the phrase.”
Sharon Kaur, Managing Director for Sahara Homes said, “It is an excellent accolade for Alan, who has achieved so much in his professional career and this award demonstrates his commitment, professionalism and dedication to social care and our service users.”
Mr Betts himself said, “I am delighted to have received this award; it is the highlight of my career to date. It means so much to me, as it’s awarded by the care industry, and to be recognised in this way, is a real honour.”
Sahara Homes Ltd operate from four London care facilities, located within or close to the Ilford area, all of which are focused on supporting adults with complex needs to achieve a more fulfilling lifestyle. One of the provider’s current initiatives is to see more young care careers develop through embracing the potential of apprenticeship schemes, in which Mr Betts is set to play an important role.
