Reviews for Bradley House Care Home from carehome.co.uk

20 Jan 2025 by Marie S (Daughter-in-law of Resident/Service User)

My mother-in-law lives at Bradley House Care Home, the care is excellent, the staff haven't changed since August 2023 when she moved there. The staff are friendly, helpful and very caring. They make a lot of effort with entertainment for the residents, especially Halloween, Christmas and Easter etc. Every resident is baked a cake of their choice on their birthday. Trips are arranged for residents to go out, i.e. going out to a local garden centre, which must be a nightmare for them, taxi's arranged, extra blankets for the residents in wheelchairs for cold weather, meeting up in the cafe for refreshments and delayed home from work due to the taxi's being late, they are still cheerful and helpful and caring. The residents take priority over themselves. The home is always clean too. Totally recommend.

My nanna came to Bradley House Care Home for respite care after a fall. After some time had passed, she decided to stay as a permanent resident. Nanna has been looked after exceptionally, nothing is too much trouble. The activities coordinator is fantastic, always coming up with exciting new activities and quizzes that my nanna enjoys partaking in. She has enjoyed trips out of the care home which took great planning and organisation. She loves the food and says that the menu is always varied. There have even been times when she has not fancied what is on offer and the kitchen staff have prepared something that is not on the menu to accommodate her needs. Nothing is too much trouble. She enjoys having her hair done at the hairdresser's on-site every Wednesday and enjoys visits from the therapy dog that visits the home. I feel confident that she is safe and well looked after which is everything that you want and more. The staff go above and beyond, recognising this is Nanna's home.

My sister's experience was something we didn't expect so when she had to go into Bradley House Care Home, we thought she would be upset but thanks to the staff, it was a good experience and she felt safe. Nothing is too much trouble for the management and staff, I found they really care for their residents. There is a full round of activities that takes place which I also enjoy when I visit.

My relative first came to Bradley House Care Home for respite after a fall. She decided to live here full-time after her initial stay because she felt safe and cared for. The staff are wonderful and there is lots going on with activities throughout the week. Her highlight is having her hair and nails done weekly like she always did when living at home. We visit often and enjoy spending time with her, the other residents and the staff. It's a lovely, friendly, homely atmosphere.

My uncle was a resident between February and July 2024 and received excellent care during his final months. Staff are very friendly and helpful and kept in touch with us regularly. Overall, a very positive experience of Bradley House Care Home.

Cannot praise this home enough. My brother-in-law came to live in Bradley House Care Home in February and settled in straight away. The staff are so lovely and friendly here. unfortunately, he passed away in July. I would like to thank everybody for the way they treated him with such care and dignity. Nothing was too much trouble for them, as a family, we were so impressed with the compassion they showed. They have lots of activities for residents to join in with and even though my relative didn't participate in many, when we visited and they were having a sing a long his feet were tapping away. He always enjoyed his meals and they were very plentiful. He loved his room and thoroughly enjoyed the family of ducks that visited him for a biscuit. Thank you Bradley House for taking such good care of him.

Mum is a resident of Bradley House Care Home and is very settled and happy there. The staff are very approachable and willing to help with any requests. There are plenty of activities for residents if they wish. I know Mum is well looked after which gives me peace of mind. Thank you all.

I cannot praise the staff enough for the care and attention afforded to my mother who was in for respite after a number of falls. After getting over her injuries, she is now very happy to stay and is the happiest I have seen her for a long time, the change is quite dramatic, well done to everyone concerned.

The whole team here are wonderful! They all show such compassion towards the residents. It's a weight off the family's mind to know a parent is being cared for so well. The activities that are arranged are brilliant and the weekly hair and nail appointments are really looked forward to.

The home is always welcoming, the staff are happy, friendly and open, we must make a special mention to the senior carer who has always helped with any issue Mum has experienced. She has always kept us informed of any problems and assisted with the positive outcomes. They have kept Mum comfortable, despite her difficulties with her advanced vascular dementia. Whilst Mum has very complex needs and we feel Bradley House Care Home is the best place for Mum to be, there are always activities going on to enhance the general well-being of the residents and the social media posts always make us smile. If anyone is thinking of placing relatives here, I could only endorse Bradley House Care Home. They are priceless!

My nanna needed permanent care, following a small stroke, when it became clear she couldn't look after herself. In the 2+ years she has been a resident, my 93-year-old nanna has blossomed. Although dementia is creeping in, the variety of activities organised at Bradley are keeping a twinkle in her eyes and staff entertained by her cheeky stories. Nanna joins in with most activities, organised by the enthusiastic activities lady. Nanna enjoys the therapy dog visits, and nostalgia talks and loves having her nails done. Nanna has also made bonds of friendship with another resident and it's lovely to see her socialising. Bradley always looks clean when we visit and the new flooring has made a tremendous difference. The staff make a point of celebrating birthdays and other notable dates with gifts and cake; which look amazing. My only criticism is the lack of visitor facilities for making a cuppa (apparently removed in Covid but not yet reinstated). I know Nanna is in safe hands, thanks to the staff.

I go visit a friend once a week and the staff are so welcoming, home is lovely and clean and everyone seems happy. My friend looks well and gets looked after. When I can't get to visit, they put photos on social media, and I can see she is happy and joins in with all the activities.

Staff are so caring and very friendly. Even joining in when singing. I, myself, have always been afraid of having to go into a care home but seeing Bradley House Care Home has made me change my mind. It is a lovely place to live out the twilight time of your life. The staff really care.

I visit Bradley House Care Home regularly with my therapy dog, Ruby. It is our first therapy dog placement as Ruby only recently passed her assessment. We have been made very welcome by all the staff and treated with respect. The residents absolutely love Ruby's visits and always sneak her some treats. The residents that we visit are always very chatty and love to interact with myself and Ruby. The care home, in general, is a lovely place for us to visit, friendly, clean and modern. I hope to have a long association with Bradley House as a volunteer.

My mum was only in for emergency respite care, 8th January 2024 - 31st January when we needed 24-hour care for her. I found all the staff at Bradley House Care Home professional and the standard of care was excellent. The care home was always clean, my mum was delighted with the excellent food and the care she received. My communication with the staff was excellent and they always helped and addressed any concerns I had about my mum. They were also really lovely to my dad, who visited my mum every day and of course, was happy for her to be well enough to go home again. I'd like to say a big thank you to all the team at Bradley House for all the care, respect and help given to us all.

Mum has been in the care home for a few months now and has settled in well. She was unable to continue to live at home because of her declining physical and mental health. She has settled in well and the standard of care she receives is very good. The staff treat each resident as an individual with their own special needs. My communication with the staff is very good and they will always address any concerns I have with my mum and keep me informed.

Since my mother-in-law has been in Bradley House Care Home the changes in her health and appearance have been changed dramatically. She had always been stubborn in thinking she could manage at home with everyday chores and caring for my father-in-law who has dementia. Now she is cared for by the fantastic care as at Bradley House she looked so well in his actually putting on weight. Highest praise for the manager and her team for all the care and support given

Since our uncle has moved into Bradley Care Home he is much happier, he joins in with the weekly activities and seems to be really settled and enjoying his stay. Staff at Bradley are always on hand to help with any questions. When we visit, you're always greeted with a warm welcome. Bradley Care Home is like home from home and that shows through when you visit the home. Our uncle has come on leaps and bounds since being in Bradley and we will forever be grateful for the excellent level of care he receives. Many thanks to all staff and managers, you all do an excellent job and that shines through when we visit.

My uncle is staying at the Bradley House Care Home, has been there nearly a year now and really enjoys it, he's always telling me how good the staff are and how they cheer him up and look after him. He has a nice room overlooking the grass and trees and loves the squirrels that come to the feeder outside his window. My uncle was a bit of a recluse and had lost a lot of weight but now he is his normal weight and his sense of humour has come back, it's lovely to see him laughing again and telling jokes. The staff are very caring and friendly and always come to see him with a smile. Please pass on the family's thanks to all the hard-working staff.

Dad's room (mat on floor in case of fall), 3 meals a day, coffee tea juice (meds given), hygiene (change of clothes), taken for a walk (beds changed), COVID jab also flu jab if he wanted it (ring me, keep updated when needed) (nurse comes on visits). Also in other months, changed doctors and meds for Dad for me, had eyes checked, phoned when a bug was going round and when he had a fall. Dad was very withdrawn when he arrived, he now looks a lot better than he has been for a long time, more like himself.

Exceptional, is the one word that I can say about the care my mum received during her unfortunately short stay with Bradley House. From before she arrived from the hospital and throughout her time at the care home, the whole team were friendly, empathetic and at the same time professional. Thank you for the attention and care you showed us and my mum.

My father spent nearly two years in what he called his "home", always "saying how well they looked after him". But for me and my family, we saw more than we ever expected. The staff were just so caring and thoughtful and interacted with my father and us on a regular basis. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we know they showed him respect, compassion, and support physically and mentally. The consideration they gave to his last few days was more than miraculous, with him being given a separate room and receiving nothing but a first-class care service, with staff checking on him or sitting with him when we did not visit. Our family cannot thank the home and all its staff enough for each individual who contributed to our father's life and gave us memories that will last.

Both my mother and father-in-law are at Bradley Care Home. The care and attention by the staff is excellent and also the support they have given us personally. At extremely short notice (and I mean hours!) they have accepted Father-in-law after he wasn't happy at another home and the staff were just exceptional in settling him in at a busy meal time. Thank you to the manager and three other staff members in particular, for going above and beyond for us all and all the carers and other staff. You really are appreciated. Thank you.

My mother was in residence at Bradley House during February and March, after being discharged from hospital. The care home manager and staff are both friendly and welcoming, however, staff shortages were experienced during her stay which I feel influenced the level of care being provided, in that things took a little longer as staff took care of the more needing residents first, correctly so. Overall the care home provides a good resilient establishment, for those needing care.

Our mum has really settled in well over the past five weeks. This is mainly down to the very professional and very caring attitude of the staff. They certainly go the extra mile. The staff have always made us feel very welcome, both during personal visits and phone calls. They take the time to talk to us about my mum’s health and well-being. My family and I have every confidence in the care home and its staff. Our mum could not be better looked after. Thank you.

My mum arrived on the 5th of January '23 just before 9 pm for palliative care. From the moment she arrived, she was treated with dignity and respect, and this continued throughout her stay. The staff were all friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Even at 3 am, when my mum was awake, they made her a cup of tea and some toast! Cannot fault her stay at Bradley House Care Home at all.

My mother had been a resident in Bradley House Care Home for nearly three years. Sadly she passed away on 2nd December 2022, but during her time in the home up until her death, she was treated with the utmost care and dignity at all times. All the staff, from management to the care staff, were efficient and caring at all times and my mother's room was kept immaculately clean. This care home was taken over by new management approximately seven weeks ago after being deemed a failing home by CQC report. Both the new manager and area manager have totally revamped the home and it is now a fabulous warm place to visit as a relative. Everything has been decorated, a new floor put down and the rooms are lovely. My mum now has a proper care plan in place. I have noticed such a change in mum. She is so much happier and engaged more with people/staff. She is even taking part in some activities in the activity room which takes place throughout the week. Things have been put in place to aid my mum with her deafness. We have a good relationship with the home who are welcome us any time of the day/night (I am a shift worker) and keep us well informed. Keep it up ! Well done to all!
