There is a major drive for training and development in the healthcare sector today. It is imperative for every company to ensure their staff, are skilled and competent to deliver the high quality care that all companies strive for.

Currently the main drive for training is around the government's initiative to train staff to NVQ level 2 (Train to Gain). However, for an individual to complete an NVQ and for an employer to meet both legal and professional standards, training in mandatory and bespoke areas usually undertaken as short courses is essential. In addition, development is also required above Level 2.

There are 6 - 7 mandatory training courses that employers must make available to staff to meet CSCI and legal requirements. In addition, there are the bespoke areas that are specific to the particular workplace i.e. dementia care, clinical courses such as, pressure area care, customer service, management, the list continues.

In addition, most of the training then needs to be updated, in most cases on a yearly basis.

MedEx Training Limited can alleviate the stress from companies regarding the sourcing, implementing and delivery of training for all staff.

This is achieved by undertaking the following:

  • Training needs analysis
  • Devising a tailor-made, flexible programme over a specific period of time (usually 12 months)
  • Co-ordinating the planned training courses in-house
  • Delivering quality training which not only aims to provide staff with the required knowledge and skills to undertake their current role effectively but also motivating and inspiring them
  • Monitor staff attendance on a monthly basis and provide reports for each work place
  • Maintaining quality assurance through communicating with the relevant individual and putting policy's in place

The main aim of this is to work with the company/employer to ensure that all staff receive; standardised, up-to-date and interactive training which meets both legal and professional requirements.

Funding also plays a role when it comes to training and as we are part of the A4e group of companies we are able to keep abreast of available funding on a national level and implement this accordingly.
