Buckler's Lodge has provided an absolute lifeline to our family. My dad has dementia ad the care shown to him at Buckler's Lodge is wonderful. Knowing he is so well looked after is a great comfort to us. The care is amazing, but also the activitiesand engagement is brilliant. Music plays a large part
of the activities, with many people visiting the home to provide music that brings back wonderful memories for the residents. Every event in the year is celebrated and as a family we are very much encourgaed to be part of every day at Buckler's Lodge. A precious thing.
Reply from Juliet Gallop, General Manager at Bucklers LodgeThank you so much for your kind words. It means a great deal to us to hear how much Buckler's Lodge has supported you and your family. We are delighted to know that your dad is so well cared for and that the activities, especially the music and celebrations, bring joy and comfort. Your feedback is genuinely appreciated and will be shared with the whole team. Thank you again for taking the time to share this.

Glebelands is a truly special place. Mum was a resident for nearly seven years, and from the moment she arrived, she wasn't just cared for-she was cared about.
The nurses and carers are exceptionally kind, treating every resident with the respect and dignity they deserve. This excellence extends to
the entire team - management, administration, domestic, catering, and facilities. The home is consistently clean and welcoming, set within beautiful, well-maintained grounds.
Beyond the care provided to my mother, the staff made me feel like part of the family. They went above and beyond to keep me updated on her wellbeing, and the time they took to chat or share a laugh made every visit a pleasure. The support I received throughout her stay, and particularly during her final days, was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the team, and I am deeply grateful to everyone for the kindness and care shown to Mum and me.
I would not hesitate to recommend Glebelands.

It's a very difficult to have to reach out to residential care to provide a home to your mum, we finally decided on Buckler's Lodge. Mum was a dementia patient for about a year. The care was adequate, the people personable, my brother and I decided to work with the staff even when we discovered the
bed still soiled on more than a few afternoon visits, medicine missed and personal items missing from her drawers. This does happen in care homes but as one of the most expensive I would expect something better. If you do decide on Bucklers Lodge don't be surprised by 10% annual fee increase due to 'cost of living'. We gave our notice and moved out, I incorrectly thought we would be paying the original fees in the month or so it took to move Mum. This was due to appalling comms. Greensleeves did not budge and insisted on getting their dementia resident to pay the full new invoice, no compromise whatsoever. I consider the attitude uncaring and greedy in the extreme. Good hot chocolate though.
Reply from Anthony Lane, Regional Manager at Bucklers LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry that your experience did not meet the standards we aim to provide and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Since your Mum lived here last year, the home has welcomed a highly experienced new General Manager who has led many positive improvements, and the service has stabilised significantly. The local authority has also recognised the progress and positive changes now in place. The fee increase referenced took place during a period of significant sector-wide cost pressures, including the Real Living Wage, increases in employers' National Insurance and utility costs we faced last year. As your Mum remained in the home after the annual increase took effect, the revised fee still applied to her. With costs now more stable, this year's fee increase at Buckler's Lodge is just 2%, which we believe is among the lowest locally. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please contact us directly.

Greensleeves have made good progress in addressing the management issues at Bucklers Lodge over the past few months.
The communication has greatly improved, the staff morale certainly seems better and the home has been proactively recruiting over the last few months and they have gradually been able
to increase the amount of permanent staff and reduce the amount of agency staff.
Overall I am pleased with the care my mother is receiving, the staff are all lovely, the building and facilities are very impressive.
They still have a little bit more to go to get the home back to a top level and back to me giving it a 5 Star review again,
I am glad to say that we are certainly now heading back in a positive direction again (imo).
So well done to Clint and the other management team for their hard work and effort and, and well done to all of the hard working staff that make Bucklers Lodge the warm,
Reply from Juliet Gallop, General Manager at Bucklers LodgeThank you for your positive feedback and we are delighted to hear that we are moving in the right direction and we appreciate your support. We look forward continuing our improvements. Thank you again.

Fantastic home always friendly and welcoming. Just had a singer and entertainment with home made cakes and scones. Lots of dancing and laughter.
They work hard to make sure all residents are involved and able to join if they want to.
Everything is done with care checking what residents want.
They
look after everyone really well my mum has been really happy and settled here for the past 18 months made friends and is settled in her home.

I should like to thank you all, every single member of staff, for the loving care and compassion shown to my husband during his very short two week stay at Glebelands. All the staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make his last few prescious days as comfortable as possible. And thank you for
the kindness shown to me and my two sons after he passed away on Saturday. I would not hesitate to recommend Glebelands Care/Nursing Home in Wokingham with all my heart.

I visit my mum once a week, and my experience is always very good. The staff onsite are all lovely and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Nobody wants to put their parent in a care home. But when I leave the home, I know that my mum is in very good hands, and will be looked after. I'm updated
if there are any issues regarding my mum, and I know my mum is happy being in there.
Reply from Juliet Gallop, Home Manager at The ManorThank you so much for your kind comments and it is a real pleasure supporting your mother in the home. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

From my first visit, I sensed that Glebelands would be the perfect home for Mum. And so it was. All staff - managers, nurses, carers, activities team, housekeepers, caterers, estate keepers and administrators - work together to provide care that is kind, gentle, individualised, knowledgeable and thorough.
The surroundings are beautiful. Mum loved her room. The atmosphere is calm, yet incorporates a varied program of activities. Outings, games, crafts, cookery, music and puzzles are popular and all the many festival days in the year are celebrated. Staff treated Mum as an individual and respected her decisions. They listened to us, initiated communication when needed, and often went the 'extra mile'. Mum felt safe, comfortable, happy and at home. Unprompted, she said that she felt well looked after. And, when her life was ending, not only was Mum nursed with love, care and dignity, but we were too. Thank you, Glebelands, for helping us to make Mum's final year the best it could be.
Reply from Doina Hirta, Home Manager at GlebelandsThank you very much for recognizing the effort made by all of us at Glebelands . We are ever so proud of the work we do and we are encouraged to strive for better when we see the positive impact our work has on our resident's experiences and their loved ones . My mother was at Glebelands for 4 years, during this time she received excellent care. All the staff from nursing to catering always called my mother by her name and treated her with dignity and respect, if they passed her room or saw her sat alone they would always stop and chat which she loved. There
was some sort of activity on each day, so lots to get involved in, if she wished along with trips out.
She would have her hair and nails done weekly which she looked forward to so even as she became less mobile at 94 there were still weekly treats!
My husband and I live in Cornwall so came up monthly and it was only due to the care that Glebelands gave her that we were able to do, she considered them family as did we.
When it came to the end of her life, she chose to be there rather than hospital and they were marvellous with us - I would definitely recommend Glebelands to anyone who is considering a care or nursing home.
Reply from Doina Hirta, Home Manager at GlebelandsThank you very much for your positive review .It is wonderful to know that you have had a positive experience with our home and team .We are dedicated to providing the best possible care and comfort to our residents and it means a lot to know that our efforts are recognised . The staff at Glebelands Care Home were exceptional, exceeding our expectations. Despite my father's brief ten-week stay due to his declining health, they provided him with the utmost respect, dignity, and care during a deeply sad and challenging period. I was consistently informed and updated on his
health condition.
I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone seeking exceptional care.
Reply from Doina Hirta, Home Manager at GlebelandsThank you very much for your very nice review. I don't know what has happened because the communication has become so poor, but this once very good care home is in a very poorly managed situation, I would strongly recommend anybody to be extremely carefully at looking at a Greensleeves Owned Care Home at the moment because the way they are mismanaging
Bucklers Lodge at the moment is VERY concerning!
Please check the recent care commission review
Reply from Clint Farmer, Home Support Manager at Bucklers LodgeDear D L - thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're very sorry if communication hasn't met your expectations recently and sincerely apologise for any frustration this may have caused. Along with regular catch ups with families, we are currently sharing fortnightly updates with all relatives about life in the home and ongoing improvement work - please do let us know if you're not receiving these, and we'll make sure that you do. We haven't been able to match your comment to any contact made directly with the home about this. If you are happy to, we would very much welcome the opportunity to meet and ensure you have all the information you need moving forward. Senior representatives are in the home seven days a week - will you get in touch to arrange a time that suits you?

Mum was in Bucklers Lodge for just under a year, initially she was on the second floor which was more residential (mum has dementia) but it was felt it would be more detrimental for her to be on the first floor ( Dementia floor). On the Greensleeves website it states they take mild to moderate dementia
residents but dementia does not stop at moderate it progresses, mums dementia did progress so she was moved to the first floor and this is where her care deteriorated. I would really like to put everything down about the care or lack of it but it probably wouldn't be printed on this website but the Care Quality Commission and Social Services have all the details. Bucklers Lodge evicted mum without any notice because her of Dementia, they said they couldn't meet her needs so sent her to hospital where she spent nearly three weeks and it's not the first time they have done this to a resident as we have found out. Mum is now safe and in a care home that understands dementia.
Reply from Clint Farmer, Home Support Manager at Bucklers LodgeDear Julie, Thank you for taking the time to share feedback. We are very sorry that you remain unhappy following our previous discussions. We understand how difficult this has been for you and your family. Your mum's needs were carefully reviewed, and as her dementia progressed, her care requirements increased beyond what could safely be met in our home. The decision not to readmit her after hospital discharge was made with her wellbeing and safety at heart, and in consultation with relevant professionals. We did communicate this decision and the reasons with you at the time, and we are sorry if this did not feel adequately explained. While we are saddened that you feel disappointed, please be assured that every step was taken in her best interests. We would be happy to meet again if you wish to talk further, and are truly very pleased that Mum is settling well in her new home.

We've had a worrying time after my Mother having a fall & breaking her hip. She was discharged from hospital only 48hrs after the operation.

I can not commend enough the quality of care and dedication of the nurses and staff at this beautiful care home. My wife became a resident at Bucklers Lodge in February. For me to loose the love of my life to the care of professionals was a huge decision. I had been her carer for 3 years and it was beginning to take its toll on my own well being.
From the moment of her taking up residence
the relief at knowing
she was in such better hands than mine in her care and stability.
I have nothing but praise for all the staff for their understanding and patience with all the residents.
Above all my life has begun to return to a level of normality, mainly because of the knowledge that I have been usurped as main carer. Safe in the knowledge that my sweetheart is in the best of hands.
Thank you all the carers at BL.
