My elderly cousin moved into this home from another around 8 months ago. She was in the previous home for a few years but we needed to move her closer. Initially, I was worried about the move, but the staff and nurses have been brilliant. Although, sometimes short staffed, the staff always make the
time to bring her into the lounge and involve her in any activities and although she can't walk and is either sitting or lying in her bed, she is always washed and dressed, has no bed sores and her room plus the home is kept very clean. All the staff are friendly and have been amazing.

It's wonderful to know she is comfortable, well cared for, and included in activities, and that her dignity and wellbeing are being maintained. Your kind words about our staff's friendliness and dedication mean a great deal and will be shared with the whole team.

This place early has been a bad experience for the last 18 months. Glad the manager has left, had about 4 managers in this little time. Some staff need to learn to communicate with the residents and sadly there is a constant change of staff, which unsettles the residents. Not enough staff and my parent
is often put in her room, as staff have said there is no one to keep an eye on her!! Staff have been encouraged to put reviews on this page to boost review score, as told to us by staff . Too much is swept under the carpet, falls that apparently no staff ever see. Mum has lost so much weight and been held back by manager to get help for her. Relatives have noticed how bad it has become. CQC reports been bad and got worse over time. This place never seems to get its act together or employ enough staff to deal with the kind of care needs these poor relatives need. Residents often ignored by staff when they are trying to talk to them . No emotional support whatever.

My Nan only in moved in 3 weeks ago, in that time my Nan seems to have settled in really nicely. From what I have seen my Nan is really well looked after, she is washed and dressed whenever I visit, her meals always look appealing. Her room is kept clean as is the rest of the home. Whenever I visit
which can be anytime with my mum or on my own I'm always made to feel welcome.

Mum came here from hospital and was very poorly having not eaten for many weeks. The staff have, with care and patience, managed to help mum recover. She is eating better, is more alert and has regained her sense of humour. The carers are friendly and caring and treat mum with respect and dignity. There
are odd times when it appears there are not enough staff around but on the whole, things seem to go well. As long as mum is happy in her environment than we are.

My mum moved to this home to be near family, I came to see the home 3 times before the decision was made for mom to come to this home, it just felt right homely, clean, friendly, staffed. Mum has settled in well and loved her room and the staff even giving time for a hold of her hand or a hug so much
passion and caring for what they do. The manager has been in position for a year and is pulling all of her experience to good use. The staff are part of her family and ours and nothing is too much. The activities team are doing wonders and the residents love going out and about. Have no regrets mum being there. All the staff are amazing.

My aunt was only with you for seven weeks but the care and dignity given was exemplary from the receptionist right through to the manager, including the handyman and domestics. I felt very comfortable leaving my loved one at Park View. Her final days went as well as they could, and the care and compassion
and dignity displayed to both myself and my aunt could not be more comforting. Every need was met timely and courteously

My wife was having a poor experience finding other residents in her room when she returned from activities. This was a set back to her well being as she had only recently been taking part in the fantastic and varied activities provided. This was quickly resolved by trusting her with her own door key.
This
illustrates the kindness and helpfulness that we have been shown since my wife moved in to the dementia unit in January.
Every member of staff (and I really mean every) we have ever come into contact with has shown us nothing but kindness.

My mum has only been in Park View Care Centre for 6 weeks. She was staying in a home before that for three years. The place itself is very nicely laid out with its own bistro where you can go have coffee, cakes and even a glass of wine. I have a feeling with the place when visiting that it has a tranquil
atmosphere which gives you a nice relaxing mode. When my mum first went in she was uneasy but in the last two weeks she has settled down and it's been a long time since I have seen her smile, which she has been doing lately, she just seems relaxed not so anxious. My mum is encouraged to join in the activities, Enjoys going to the restaurant for lunch and dinner The staff and manager who are willing to work with you. I would recommend this place even if you just come and have a look.
My mum has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's and does not walk now so a lot of care is needed and I believe she is getting that care.

Withens Nursing Home

from P G (Sister of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My brother was admitted to 'Withens Nursing Home' from hospital to a 6 week assessment bed. The 'room' was extremely small, only big enough to take a single bed and a wardrobe with a sink. No chairs! He had only one window with no overlook except a tree. He had a diagnosis of emphysema. Unfortunately,
he passed away suddenly on Wednesday, the 9th of April unexpectedly. I had informed the nursing staff on Monday that he was chesty and coughing. The manager is not a nice person; his personality was awful. The care staff were wonderful. The nurses were mostly arrogant and did not in my opinion, do their best of care. I was my brother's next of kin. If I had known what an awful place it is I would've fought more to move him. I do not see one of the residents out of bed any time.

Reply from Lee Cunningham, General Manager at Withens Nursing Home

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm truly sorry to hear that your experience with our home has not met your expectations. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment or concerns you've encountered. As a team, we care deeply about every residents and their families, it is upsetting to hear that you don't feel fully supported. Our nursing and care staff work in this sector because we genuinely want to help and care for others - it's at the heart of everything we do. Your comments matter to us, and we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss any specific concerns so we can better support family and residents in the future. We understand that the home is not purpose-built, which means that some rooms may be smaller than what newer facilities offer. However, we always aim to make our spaces as comfortable as possible and do have chairs and additional furniture available should this help enhance the room's usability. Best Lee

My mother was put onto end of life pathway in January. The staff thoroughly explained what this meant. Over the next few weeks all of the staff on oak helped my mum, caring for her kindly and making sure she was comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum was offered her favourite food to tempt her
to eat. She has hand massages to relax her and staff went into her room more regularly to offer any help or support she wanted. It was the best care given kindly and with compassion.
