The level of care, respect, love and support that the entire The Depperhaugh team gave to my Mum and our whole whanau was next level. Always friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure our Mum was respectfully cared for and her needs met on a daily basis was reassuring to put entire family.
I live abroad and knowing that Mum was in the best care home was so important. Thank you to all at The Depperhaugh.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The staff have always struck me as caring and polite. I have not really had any dealings with management so far. My mum was a little concerned about the security of items in her room, after 'losing' items. However, one of those turned up in the chest at the foot of her bed, which she seemed unaware
of (because it looked like a seat?) She said that other residents sometimes wandered into other's rooms, although I don't know if this is true.
Reply from Lilac Manager, Home Manager at Lilac Lodge Care HomeThank you for your review. We are pleased that staff have made you feel welcome on your visits. Mum has felt that items have been lost but these have always been found in a safe place in mums room, where she has left them. We are not aware of any residents having access to mums room however, we can discuss with mum if she would like to have a key and keep her door locked.

The Depperhaugh Nursing Home

from Peter S (Husband of Resident) published on 9 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife was a resident at the Depperhaugh for 4 years. The care throughout this time was exemplary. Her illness was rare, and the staff rose to the challenge of finding out and understanding it. Nothing was too much trouble, and all the staff, and I include housekeepers, took a real hands-on approach
to her care. The activities were greatly valued. The level of communication between me and the staff was excellent. Because of her illness there were times when she was very anxious and unsettled, and I was always able to leave the Depperhaugh knowing that her care needs, especially attention, were being met. The staff were also very supportive of me and other family members and friends who visited. As her illness progressed the end of life care provided was excellent, and on overnight stays the staff made sure we were as comfortable as possible.
Throughout her time at the Depperhaugh my wife retainerd a full understanding and awarene of what was happening to her, and she valued the care.
