Sycamore Heights Nursing Home

from A K (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 October 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was admitted to Sycamore Heights for a period of respite care. She had previously held a negative view of care homes, recalling experiences where residents were left sitting in chairs without stimulation. Her experience at Sycamore Heights has been entirely different, and she has now chosen
to remain as a full-time resident.
The home is extremely well maintained and always presented to a high standard of cleanliness. Staff are consistently kind, patient, and supportive towards both residents and their families, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Before admission, my mother had experienced significant weight loss due to a reduced appetite. Since staying at Sycamore Heights, she has rediscovered her enjoyment of food and has already begun to gain weight. The menu is varied and appealing, which has had a very positive impact on her health and wellbeing.
Overall, the standard of care has been excellent, and we have complete confidence in the support she is receiving.
Reply from Heather Donnell, Home Manager at Sycamore Heights Nursing Home

Thank you so much for taking the time to review Sycamore Heights. I will ensure your kind words are shared with the team. At Sycamore Heights we strive to give everyone who lives in and visits a smile and a warm welcome, it is nice to hear that this is being achieved. Our chef work with our residents to adapt the menu to what they would prefer and if they do not fancy what is on the menu they will ensure that an alternative of the residents choice is provided.

Brackley Nursing Home

from J C (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 October 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum received a very warm welcome on arrival, for a week's respite care. Red roses, a card, chocolates and toiletries in her room were a personal touch. The room was spotlessly clean and Mum's name was already up outside, which she appreciated. My brother and I were welcomed to eat with Mum before we
left, which gave us an insight into the dining facilities: metal cutlery, white tablecloths and not a plastic beaker in sight! The residents are treated with respect, as adults, which is not the case with other homes I have recently experienced. My impression was that Mum was well cared for and included in activities throughout the week, including an outing to a garden centre for a coffee. She has particularly mentioned Alice for her excellent care although all staff were brilliant.

My husband went in to Brackley care home as he was dealing with Parkinsons desease and could no longer be cared for at home. The staff did all they could to help him with this very debilitating condition and cared for him till his passing. The family will be forever grateful for the care and kindness
shown by all the staff not only to him but also to the rest of his family. There were many staff who went above and beyond to do all they could for him in very difficult circumstances. The only thing I would mention is that at times the staff seemed overstretched due to the need for more staff.

Mum moved Brackley Care Home 3 months ago after her current care home suddenly closed, the staff have been very welcoming and supportive. Naturally it is taking a while for mum to settle and get to know her new environment, staff and residents and I will be honest I was worred about her becoming isolated, but
today I had first hand experience of her joining in, she came out so happy and kept saying how much she had enjoyed going to the cinema -it really made me smile and i felt a little bit of weight lifting as it is such a heart searching time when you have to move your mum from her family home of 60 years to ensure she is safe and can be cared for 24/7 .
I certainly feel mum is in good hands and i always feel welcome when i go to see her, often taking my dog.
Thank you

We visit 3 friends who are cared for here. Since coming through the door it is a pleasant experience.
All the staff we have encountered have been welcoming and helpful. Their manner with our friends is friendly, respectful and kind/caring.
We love the decor - feels like a hotel not a hospital it
is always clean and tidy.
If I need a care home this is where I would like to be.

I started visiting my friend in the new year. I was very impressed with the home it being modern bright and cheerful. Her room was very nice and she was able to have some of her own items brought in. As well as a large communal room there was a smaller lounge leading to a patio where my friend liked
to sit. Plenty of activities to join in.

We looked at 4 other care homes before choosing Park Lane and it was the best decision we have ever made in the care of Mum. The staff are loyal, hardworking, caring and very professional. The long service of many of the staff prove the job satisfaction in caring for vulnerable patients. It it kept
immaculate, the food is excellent, activities well planned and stimulating. It is also a place full of happiness and the end of life care is attentive and compassionate. I have been in many care homes through church volunteering but this is the best I have ever been in.

I have been very impressed with the care my mother has received at Woodbridge Lodge. The first time I walked into the Lodge, when I was choosing a place for mum, I was struck by the kindness, fun , and warmth I observed.
Mum has now been a resident for 6 months. I have found the staff to be consistently
caring and endeavouring to meet my mums needs. For her 90th birthday the staff decorated the place beautifully and produced an amazing homemade cake. Our family were very touched.
When I visit I am always made to feel very welcome. I have been very impressed with the number and range of activities on offer. The garden is very well cared for and has been a real source of pleasure for mum.
The communication between staff and myself is vey good and the management very professional.

Branksome Heights has been an amazing find....the staff as a whole, are absolutely fantastic and make a great team from top to bottom. As a family we are super happy that Dad is so well cared for, and is completely at home in a great safe environment. Would like to also point out that Dad has quite
high standards and often says that you can't fault the home in any shape or form. He also compliments the staff in all ways and is extremely complimentary about the food. As I said earlier, a great find and a job well done by all.

When you first see Eliza Palmer, you will be very impressed with the reception, cafe area as you move into the residential area, which is also very smart, but not air conditioned. Our room was spacious and well appointed everything you need was there.
Most of the staff are very attentive and caring,
occasionally the residents to the alarm bell was a little slow, especially at night time. Food was generally good, perhaps a little beans not a bad thing.

My first impression of Sycamore Heights Care Home was that it is extremely well run and that the atmosphere is very caring. It is attractive from a funishing and decorative point of view and the overriding atmosphere is of both kindness and competence. I was in there for respite care at the end of July
2025. I was well looked after and one of the most important things for me was that I was treated as a person and not just an "old person". Both staff and residents were kind and welcoming and I felt confident that had I needed more nursing care it would have been provided.

My father received excellent care at the home, he and all the family, were always made to feel very welcome and greeted with a friendly smile. The staff all went out of their way to accommodate dad's requests and nothing seemed to be too much. All of the staff had time when we had any questions or problems,
never making us feel rushed.
We are also grateful that the home was able to handle his end-of-life care, fulfilling his wish not to die in hospital. His final week was challenging, due to his failing heath but all his issues and problems were resolved quickly, with professionalism and always good humour.
