The staff at the Depperhaugh were absolutely exemplary in the care they gave my mum as she reached the end of her life. She had been in the home for a number of years and they really treated her like family, going well above and beyond the care they are paid for.

My relative was lovingly cared for at The Depperhaugh for over 4 years while her physical and psychological health deteriorated with PSP. The staff.were very understanding and responsive to her needs and welcoming to us as regular visitors.
Despite the difficulties of caring for a degenerative and
progressive condition we felt the care she received was exemplary.

Park Lane Care Home

from Janet B (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 January 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Park Lane is a very warm, friendly place with a family feel to it. All the staff are approachable and work very hard supporting the residents while at the same time maintaining the resident's dignity and individuality. They are very quick to notice when a resident needs extra support, and I have found
that any concern I have about my Mum's health has been acted upon right away. The Activity Co-ordinators are excellent in their provision of daily schedules of the many varied activities. From group activities to one-to-one outings. They strive to include the interests of all the residents. From Rickshaw rides around the park to visits from miniature ponies. My Mum especially loves the arts, crafts, games and chair exercises. The building is bright, cheerful and spotlessly clean. The dining area is welcoming, clean and cosy. There is always a choice on the menu from the friendly chefs. They never fail to provide a home-made cake so the residents can celebrate when it's someone's birthday.

Wow! What can I say, my dear mum is week 3 into respite care, with a future to stay at Heron Lodge. As soon as you open the door, you get greeted with pure love, and care, you have literally made my mum and myself feel like it's home from home, nothing is to much trouble, all the staff are second to
none, and I feel my mum is safe and cared for. The transistion of leaving your own home over 50 years to comming to Heron Lodge, has not been difficult for both my mum and myself, its absoluutely fantastic, well done to all involved with my mums care.
Reply from Shane Collier, Operation Manager at Heron Lodge Nursing HomeThank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words. It truly means the world to us to hear that both your mum and yourself feel so welcomed, supported, and at home at Heron Lodge.

Your reassurance that your mum feels safe, cared for, and surrounded by love is exactly what we strive for every day.

Your appreciation will be shared with the whole team, who will be absolutely delighted to know the difference their care and dedication has made. Thank you for trusting us with your mum's care - it is a privilege to support you both.

We always get a very warm welcome from the manager and all the members of staff when we visit Mum at Yaxley House.
Everyone knows Mum by name which is lovely to hear.
The activities team have certainly got Mum engaged with joining in with a wide variety of activities, which we never managed, so well
done.
It always smells clean, and the housekeeping team are constantly ensuring it keeps that way.
The overall ethos is that this IS Mums home and we can visit whenever and bring the dogs in as well. Not forgetting getting a cuppa and biscuits, just like at home.
So an overall lovely place for Mum to live - thank you Yaxley House

We recently went to the Depperhaugh Christmas Fair. It was a truly festive occasion, where residents were fully immersed in the Christmas activities.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who treated residents with care and dignity. They weren't talking 'at' the residents but
'to' them.
I really feel like my mum is at home, and not in a home.

Sycamore Heights Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother moved into Sycamore Heights at the end of October 2025, due to her dementia my sister and I had to make the decision on her behalf and we visited a few care homes: the moment we walked into Sycamore Heights we knew it was the right one for our mother, the atmosphere was welcoming, warm and
with a sense of calmness. The property is well maintained with beautiful decor and furnishings, it's always spotlessly clean, fresh and feels more like a hotel than a care home.
The staff are very kind, compassionate and friendly, they treat the residents with respect and dignity and are always welcoming when I go to visit my mum.
The food is excellent with a varied choice on the menu each day, my mother has been enjoying the meals and has gained weight since being here.
The transition for mum moving here has been smooth and she has settled in extremely well, being in Sycamore Heights has improved her quality of life and it's reassuring to know she is in safe, caring hands.
