Care home under staffed. Lot of agency staff who don't seem overly caring. Full time staff overworked but are brilliant with the residents. Activities for residents are not tailored to individual as 'sold' on enquiring about the home, which is disappointing. However, the home is a lovely environment,
food is plentiful and seems good quality. Reception, admin and home manager friendly and pleased to help/

We would like to say thank you for the kindness and care mum received from the staff on the reception, the coffee shop, hairdressers, beauty salon and the carers. However the management team were not what we expected from such a high end care home. The home has all 'the bells and whistles' but lacks
on the important things. The manager didn't even know mum's name and never did throughout her year of being there. Staffing levels were very inadequate at times. We were told when we initially came to view the home that there were cameras in all the rooms and in the public area. Unfortunately this was misleading as we later found out the cameras had never been in operation. Mum also had a nasty fall and was in hospital for some time, we understand falls are common with dementia but the investigation that followed could have been handled better. We have since moved mum to another care home and are delighted with the level of care and dignity, it is an amazing place.

Abbey Rose Care Home

from Debbie D (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The decision to move my mother-in-law to a care home was not an easy one for us as we always envisaged taking care of her ourselves. However, this was not to be but I can say that the decision to move her to Abbey Rose proved to be the right one. She was shown great kindness, care and love. She
was also treated with dignity and respect. As her family, we were given great support. The staff were always cheerful and welcoming and we felt that they became an extension to our own family. The home is kept immaculately with lovely decor and in an good state of repair. It has a beautiful garden in which they hold special events and which relatives are invited to. There are daily activities for the residents to join in with if they wish. There is always someone on hand to talk. We think that my mother-in-law was given an extra 12 months of life because of the care she received at Abbey Rose and for that we will always be thankful.

I would like to personally thank all the staff on the 1st floor for looking after my dad in his last weeks of life. He was shown kindness, empathy and received amazing care and compassion from all the nurses and care staff.
My dad passed away on 12th April after a battle with mouth and throat cancer.
The last days and hours were made as comfortable as possible for him due to the care and attention of the staff. The male carer who was with us at the end (he will know who he is) was so considerate and empathetic. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all

I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional care my Dad received at Meadow Rose Nursing Home. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a second home. The staff were not just caregivers; they became like family. They treated my Dad with kindness, compassion, and respect, ensuring his comfort
and happiness every day. The facility was clean and well-maintained, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Always asking residents and family what could be done to make it even better than it already is. Visits from Alpacas and Ponies were a real delight for him. If you're looking for a nurturing environment for your loved one, I highly recommend Meadow Rose.

My sister was only with you for 5 weeks after being discharged from the hospital. As her care needs required constant nursing. Austin Rose Care Home came highly recommended and during her time with you the care provided for her kept her comfortable,s afe and stress free. When we visited all the staff
were welcoming, friendly, caring and very informative of her condition. My sister had a very peaceful end to her life. These views are also echoed by my daughters one a current health care professional and the other an ex-safeguarding professional.

This home is like a 5 star hotel. Dad went in for 6 weeks respite and was about to sign a contract to stay permanently when he had to go back to hospital. The facilities are brilliant as is the food + restaurant service. The staff are first class and treated dad like a family member he was extremely
well taken care of. Although dad was in a wheelchair he was always taken to the entertainment + activities he wished to attend. The management are always visible, helpful and available at short notice. The staff have kept in touch whilst dad was in hospital and we hope to get him back into Blossomfield Rose for nursing care.

My Mum had a much needed few weeks' respite care in Austin Rose and was given the best of care. The staff, manager to maintenance, could not have been more obliging. Mum particularly enjoyed the food - all cooked fresh, on site, with plenty of choice and variety - without her having to do it herself!!
She enjoyed walking round the garden and was disappointed not to be staying longer to see it come awake for Summer.

from Anna M (Wife of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband settled in very quickly in a couple of days because of the Nursing staff and carers going out of their way to make him feel welcome by their gentle ,kind and caring attitude.
His wishes are always taken into consideration and he is allowed to sit in his room , have meals and relax if he
wishes
Measures were put in place from day one by the staff to prevent falls day or night as my husband is a client with high risk of falls.Sensory mats alerting the staff of any movement and quick response by them has resulted in no falls at all, which was my main concern
There is regular supervision by staff of all the clients in the Alzheimers unit.
My requests were met with empathy and carried out straight away. Staff look happy and are very professional.
From the staff manning the telephone to the management team , all of staff members are ready to help family as well with queries and advise.
Diet looks balanced and generous.Choices are available.Overall very happy.

A dear friend of ours advised that she was looking to move from her Care Home and asked for some help to find a new one. We focused our search to the South of Birmingham and viewed several before Blossomfield Rose. We would have saved a lot of time and effort if we had seen Blossomfield at the start.
The entire process, of deciding which of the many homes would be best, was made very easy thanks to all at Blossomfield. The location, decor, furnishings and appearance of the home could easily pass for the contents of a 5 Star hotel. The same is true of the food, which was simply outstanding and delicious. Each room is designed to make the resident feel at home as do all of the individual elements of Blossomfield Rose. The home offers a host of activities to cater to everyone. Our friend is the happiest she has been and we would thank the leadership team and all at Blossomfield Rose. Collectively they transformed a building into a caring, safe and beautiful home.
