Review of The Firs Care Home from J G (Niece of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
From first contact with the Firs about vacancies to the last day of his stay I was kept informed and included . Staff were professional, polite, caring and approachable making every effort to ensure he settled in and felt comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble and I can't thank them enough for the time and attention paid to meeting his needs. Meals were always well presented and varied, activities were available although he didn't
join in out of choice and he enjoyed his appointment with the hairdresser so 10/10 for that, assisted to go outside for a cigarette.
Rooms are varying in size and decor is very warm and homely. Towels and toiletries provided and assistance with washing and dressing as needed. All facilities available including fabulous accessible bathrooms and showers. Access to GP and district nurses as required. Full support around medication which is invaluable.
I would recommend The Firs who went above and beyond to meet my uncles needs.

Well done All at The Firs

Review of Lane House Care Home from Robert W (Brother of Resident) published on 8 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My wife and I have assisted my sister over the past two years since my brother in law died. She had mobility issues which deteriorated recently to be too difficult to love alone. Both my father and his brother passed their final years in Lane House and both my sister and I visited them regularly in the 1990's so my sister requested that she could live there if a room was available. My wife and I find Lane House a special place, my sister is the happiest we have seen her in the past 2 years we like the friendly staff. The home is well kept and wonderful.

This place is fab-u-lous. Cant express strongly enough of the 'care' the residents receive. My auntie is a resident at The Firs. Shes been there 18 months as she couldn't cope at home anymore. The place is second to none. They put the care in care home. Recently my auntie had to go into hospital. The carers on shift that night stayed an hour over their shift to be with her.

Review of Autumn House Nursing Home from Howard M (Husband of Resident) published on 23 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife entered Autumn House just before Christmas 2025 for end of life care and died on the 1st March, 2026. The staff were compassionate, empathic and wholly professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. They treated my wife with dignity and supported me through the difficult time of being with her as she died. We were both overwhelmed with many examples of kindness. The management of this home lead by example and instill in the staff a passion for excellence. I have worked for years in the private sector of health care and found the levels of professionalism at this nursing home to be superb. If I ever need the type of care Autumn House offers, without hesitation, this where I shall come. I would recommend Autumn House to anyone.

What a wonderful place this really is! The care my mom receives is beyond any pay slip, it's from the heart, and it's so noticeable. Mom is so happy here she feels loved and not just cared for. This takes so much pressure off us as a family. I always hear the laughter, the way they make her smile. It's genuinely poetic!

Moms health has also flourished in every way, including mentally and it's just the best place. We feel lucky to have found you!

I would like to add how wonderful the food is, the quality and the choice there is wonderful. They use a really good catering service, and the cook there is brilliant. She puts love into every meal she makes. Her cakes that she makes the residents should win awards!!! As time has gone by I’m happier and happier this is now well into her first year. The Staff are just perfection and the world should know about it!

Review of Autumn House Nursing Home from Richard E (Son of Resident) published on 9 April 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
From the front desk to all the teams involved on a day to day basis, the dignity, love and care Dad was shown was exemplary. It was a challenging time for Dad and all of us, but the professionalism, compassion and understanding given to Dad made his final chapter as comfortable as it could have been. Dad was fiercely independent until last summer, so his move to Autumn House in August was a significant and unsettling change for him, but the staff helped him adjust, rally, and in the end feel as though Autumn House had become home.

Knowing he felt settled in his final months brought us enormous comfort.

Review of Lane House Care Home from Donna H (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 25 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in December and struggled greatly with accepting her condition, as well as with loneliness and declining mental health. We decided respite care might help and viewed two homes in Tamworth. Lane House stood out immediately.
She moved in on a Monday, and by Wednesday she was already saying she wanted to stay permanently. The transformation in her was remarkable. She settled quickly, joined in with activities, and every professional who visited commented on the positive change in her wellbeing. Six weeks later, she is happier, more engaged, and more settled than we've seen her in a long time. She is now a permanent resident and has even put her home on the market because she feels so at home.
Exceptional care homes like Lane House deserve to be talked about more. They show that moving into care doesn't have to be frightening - it can be life-changing, uplifting, and full of joy.

Thank you, Lane House. We truly cannot thank you enough

My father went to live at Autumn House at the end of September 2025. His health had been up and down due to difficulties managing his medicines and recent TIAs. Within a few hours, Autumn House had obtained and understood his medical history and needs, and very quickly stabilised his condition. The team were fantastic, responsive and helpful. The facilities were perfectly ideal for my dad. Service provided was excellent, reliable and very friendly. We are really pleased we chose Autumn House for my dad's care.

Unfortunately, my dad died only after one month. Two of these weeks were spent in the hospital, with suspected sepsis from the catheter. Worrying he lost a stone in weight in that time, yet he was a good eater. I did not see how he was eating there. Today, we were told he died from sepsis from the catheter. This is very upsetting, as we had asked a few times to have it taken out permanently, as dad was uncomfortable with it. I was told they were looking into it, but it didn't happen. My dad could not speak to say he was in pain or discomfort. The catheter was blocked and cloudy with blood when he arrived at hospital.

Ashcroft Hollow was such a lovely place for my dad to be. Every member of staff who I met was kind, thoughtful and extremely compassionate. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
His room was clean, comfortable and always smelled fresh.
Every detail was taken care of.
My only sadness is that dad was not there longer and never got to enjoy the beautiful garden at the rear.

Thank you.

My grandad came to Autumn House at the end of his life. I work in a different care home and it is not a patch on AH. The staff were polite, they made our family their family. Grandad was helped to settle. His room was kept nice and he was encouraged to live his life to the full till the end.

The staff at Autumn House made my dad very welcome. They supported all his complex medical needs and gently and sensitively encouraged him to settle and feel at home. Many of the staff went above and beyond and helped both dad and the whole family when dad was reaching the end. Very impressed, highly recommended if there was an award higher then 10 give it!

I rate The Firs Care Home extremely highly having had recent experience with my father being cared for by them for the last 10 months. The staff are pleasant, professional + extremely caring at times going above + beyond what you would expect from them. They genuinely do care! The home itself is spotlessly clean + there is a happy feel about the whole place when you visit. Management are very approachable + hands on making for a care home that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Review of Meadowfields Care Home from Alison A (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum has been at Meadowfields for three years now. Sadly, she suffers with dementia. She is very settled at Meadowfields, the staff know her well and she is very well cared for. Mum is always clean, well presented and eats well, her room and the rest of the home is always clean and beautifully decorated. The staff have got to know her personality and little quirks and cater for her individual needs, supporting her in activities and keeping a close eye on her and what she's doing. The staff are an excellent team and you will always find the same staff, so there is excellent continuity of care and everyone knows my mum well. There are activities run by a great team who entertain, support and occupy the residents. There's always something going on, Painting, quizzes, animal visits, tea parties.

It was a tough decision to move mum in to a home and broke our hearts, but it was the best decision we have made . Mum calls Meadowfields her home. She is safe, well looked after.

This week we arrived to see my mother-in-law (myself, husband, sister). We asked my sister could have a look around because we need to find somewhere for our mum. We are happy with the care our mum is receiving. Nothing was too much trouble, and all her questions were answered. We were not rushed at all, and my mum was invited to go for lunch, so we cannot fault the staff and the service, lovely, warm and clean, staff so friendly.
