York Manor Care Home

from A M (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 December 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was one of the first few residents at York Manor when it opened and we have been delighted by the care and quality of staff from the beginning. I am especially grateful to the chef for making sure my mom has nice vegetarian meals, and has even cooked some of Mom's own recipes for her. I also
appreciate the range of activities, and how they listen to families about ways they can arrange more relevant activities, or try new things. The decor is lovely and well designed. The rooms have just enough space, but also feel cosy. Overall we are very pleased with her care, and know this is the right place for her to be.
Reply from Jenny Bellwood, Marketing Director at York Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We're delighted to hear how pleased you have been with the care your mother has received at York Manor since opening, and it means a great deal to know you feel confident that this is the right place for her.

We're especially pleased that our chef's efforts to provide enjoyable vegetarian meals - including cooking some of your mother's own recipes - have been appreciated. Your kind words about our staff, the range of activities, and the way we listen and respond to families' suggestions are truly lovely and will be shared with the whole team.

It's also great to hear that you enjoy the dcor and that your mother's room feels both comfortable and cosy.

Thank you once again for your continued trust and heartfelt review.

Cedar Falls Nursing Home

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
I find this Home very disturbing not a lot of stuff around don't keep an eye on the residence as my mum is in there. She's had two falls in the last week since being in there carer was swearing at other residents very homophobic care home. this is the worst care Home I've ever been in. And I have worked
in a few care homes and residential homes also Home care and the Nhs Hospital to be quite honest I wouldn't put my worst nightmare into this home if I had my way I'd move my mother out of this place hence the one star. patients wee on the floors staff just walked by don't bother cleaning it up the place smells of wee. My mum has weed herself a number of times and left her in her own urine hence why she keeps getting urine infections UTIs don't seem to bother you kind of have to tell them that she's got a water infection. Staff need to be retrained know how to respect the residence as this is their home and they're working actually for the residence. I find this place very disturbing.

I regularly visit my friend at least once/week and was invited to attend a community lunch on Sunday 2nd November which was excellent. I attended with 2 more friends and we were seated at a very nicely dressed table in the Garden Room. My friend in the care home was very happy to be joined by us her
friends for Sunday Lunch. The food was delicious and we were made very welcome. I have witnessed a shortage of staff on occasions but understand this is common in the majority of care home. Fortunately my friends has a good group of friends who visit frequently so on occasions we have pointed out problems in her care.

Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

from Sam I (Son of Resident) published on 2 December 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Hunters Creek was my Mother's home for nearly 2 years. The warmth of the welcome she received on day 1 from Edgars immediately filled me with confidence that she was in the right place. I have never had cause to lose that confidence. She was treated with kindness, respect and infinite patience by all
the staff. I was always impressed that any staff member I approached on the first floor knew what she was up to and where I was likely to find her despite this being a really large nursing home. I can't name every person who looked after her but we will be eternally grateful to all of the staff who were so kind, caring and supportive; from Calan who sourced her favourite ginger beer when there was a shortage and Lola who travelled and stayed with her in hospital to Lewis who made emergency arrangements for medical care. Mum was not always an easy person to be around but the Staff at Hunters Creek are made of Special Stuff. I salute them all.

The staff generally seem to look after mum well and seem genuinely affectionate towards her. Activities really seem to have improved a lot although unfortunately mum cannot take full advantage due to her condition. We have had one or two concerns with cleaning but when mentioned it was dealt with quickly.
Bins often seem to remain unemptied for a while. Overall our experience has been good, particularly the staff.

Mum came to this care home and they have done wonders. She is starting to walk slowly again after breaking her foot with the patience of all of the carers. Cannot fault anyone one person they love Mum and make us so welcome when we visit as well. Nothing too much for them and if we ask questions always
help and if can't find someone who can. Entertainment lads Tyler and Toby are great and make the residents time enjoyable with their activities. Would like to say thank you to every single one of you from carers, entertainment, reception, nurses, kitchen staff, hairdresser, cleaners and anyone I may have missed for looking after Mum so well and always making us welcome and our visits enjoyable. I feel content that Mum is safe and being looked after 24/7 with great care and that she has always got someone about which is what she likes. Thank you once again to every single one of you.

The way my father-in-law has improved due to the consistency of care and help from staff is incredible. My father-in-law had been bed bound before coming to Sandpiper (due to neglect and lack of care and knowledge from previous home).
He is now able to communicate effectively, he has progressed from
being hoisted to using a stand to help him transfer, he can now feed himself. I really can't praise staff enough. They are all brilliant and each and every one of them work to high standard. This includes care, cooks, cleaners etc.

Your praise for all members of staff, from care teams to cooks and cleaners is truly appreciated. Everyone plays a part in creating a warm, safe and supportive environment, and your kind words will be shared with the whole team.
