The staff at Ranfurly Care Home are excellent. The nurses and carers go out of their way to make sure my mums needs are always met. The activities girls are first class, they not only keep my mum happy and exercised on a daily basis but are great for my well being also. Some days it's a struggle to
go in but there's always someone available to talk to. Thank you all for everything you do for us.

Spiers Care Home

from James B (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 22 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

None of us wants to become a resident of a care home, but when circumstances dictate that is the only logical course of action the hope must be that the residence charged with the individual's wellbeing is of the highest standard. That is most certainly the case with Spiers Care Home.
Residents and
visitors are provided with excellent care, compassion, love and understanding. Indeed, fault-finders will be extremely disappointed.
I have only the highest regard and respect for one staff member in her role as manager and the rest of the staff who do a wonderful job with a smile on their faces.
Their attentiveness is worthy of a gold star.

Reply from Amanda Rankin, Manager at Spiers Care Home

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such an incredible review. The team at Spiers work tirelessly to ensure our residents receive the best care, and are treated with utmost dignity, respect and compassion. Their voices are heard, and we strive to meet their every need. From our ancillary team members, right through to management, our residents are at the heart of everything we do. I look forward to speaking with you soon, as always, we are available should you require any support. Thank you again for this fantastic feedback. Best wishes,Amanda

We moved our dad here from a different home, he looked like he was at death's door when he arrived. Within a couple of weeks, he is now walking again. Loves the home and is eating really well. (The food looks great) Joining in the activities.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My Mum came to Surbitonian in August 2022. She previously lived in East Sussex but all her family lived in either Fulham or Kingston.
Whilst we visited her every week she got to a point where she wanted to live near us all.
We looked at Surbitonian & were impressed by their desire to create
a community.
The building was designed to support this. The Care Staff are incredibly supportive & caring and backed up by the nursing team.
The one issue for me has been the turnaround of those in the "Manager role". Consistency in this role would help provide confidence and ensure that aims & objectives were clear and staff supported to deliver.

Reply from Nicky Hazell, REM at Surbitonian Gardens

Thank you so much for your kind words about the care and support your mum has received at Surbitonian Gardens. We're truly grateful for your trust in us and delighted to hear that she feels part of the community we've worked hard to build. We completely understand your concern around the changes in management. While we acknowledge that consistency in this role is important, these changes have been part of our commitment to finding the right leadership to truly reflect our values and support our dedicated staff in delivering the best possible care. Our goal has always been to ensure a stable and supportive environment for both residents and staff, and we're confident that the steps we've taken will strengthen that even further moving forward. Thank you again for your feedback - it's vital in helping us grow and improve.

Sandstone Brook

from Yaz P (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025

If you are looking for a welcoming, gorgeous and caring home for your relative sandstone brook is the place to be. In March we started to navigate the care system for our grandmother who wasn't safe to return home from hospital. We loved sandstone brook & what facilities and services it has to offer
but had no idea how to get her there. It is a beautiful, purpose built home. We were supported by the team through the process to make this move possible. My grandmother has been isolated for the last 10 years and really missed the social aspect of life. Sandstone Brook has given her the care, understanding and time to help her integrate socially and make new friends. They are loving, caring and welcoming. I'm so glad we made the decision for our grandmother to move here and already can see she is starting to flourish in this nurturing environment. The staff are lovely and myself & my children have been welcomed like extended family. Sandstone Brook & it's staff will not disappoint.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I found the managers to be extremely helpful and friendly. They facilitated emergency respite care for my aunt at short notice and with a "can do" attitude.
The assessment pre admission by another member of staff, one of the clinical nurse leads was extremely thorough and inspired confidence. It was
also done outside office hours, with an emphasis on allowing my aunt to access the care she needed and giving her family a much needed breather.
My aunt has settled in well thanks to the care and attention of the nursing and ancillary staff.
Another clinical lead has been most helpful and also inspired confidence with his follow through on clarifying clinical needs.
It's such a blessed relief to know my aunt is getting gold standard care in a 5 star environment.
Additionally it's not just her medical needs that are being catered to. The food is excellent and social activities abound. I'm tempted to check in myself!!
I recommend Surbitonian Gardens unreservedly.

My husband has been a resident since July 2024 and without the tenacity, determination and superb nursery/dementia knowledge of the manager and staff would not be so settled and comfortable in his surroundings.
The staff are dedicated and treat all residents with respect and compassion. From top to
bottom, all on same message. In particular, the laundry and cleaning staff work tirelessly to ensure that the environment is extremely comfortable. The ladies in the kitchen cannot be praised enough as they listen to the residents, providing additional treats and the occasional song! Nourishing meals and old fashion favourites. We as relatives going through a very distressing time always have someone to listen to us. We are part of their family too!

Our mum has been at Brampton for up to 12 months. Our overall experience of the home has been a good one. It can be difficult to gain access when visiting after the office staff have left. Mum is generally kept clean, but we feel standards have slipped of late particularly with the bedding being not
changed regularly. The staff who see Mum really now know her little traits and accommodate accordingly to Mum's mood. We find the staff helpful when asked to help, if we require any information on medications or food, they are great in letting us know. One member of staff was amazing downstairs but has now gone upstairs. Another member of staff is Mum's favourite.

Brampton Lodge Care Centre

from Ruth P (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

Brampton Lodge is in need of much improvement and is certainly not the care home that it was a few years ago. They have had 3 different managers over the last year or so since the home came under new ownership/management. I have raised many a complaint with management and had promises of improvement
but none have materialised. I have complained to Social Services and CQC. Staff turnover is very high and lots of the great staff have left. There are a few wonderful, caring staff who remain but these are few and far between. Lots of agency staff being used who don't get a proper handover and therefore are not aware of the residents needs as detailed in their care plans. Basic care needs such as regular personal care and hydration are not met. Communication between management, nursing staff and carers is very poor. I would not recommend this care home to anyone!

Reply from Bev Oliver, Regional Operations Manager at Brampton Lodge Care Centre

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Brampton Lodge. We are extremely sorry to hear about the concerns you have raised. We recognise that consistency and communication are vital in providing the high standard of care that our residents deserve, and we apologise that your expectations were not met in this regard. Please be assured that we are actively addressing these issues. We are working hard to improve communication across our team to ensure that residents care plans are followed, and their needs consistently met. Your concerns have been shared with the Senior Management Team. Thank you again for your feedback.

My brother had very complex needs that required frequent monitoring by staff, and they have risen to the challenge magnificently. I could not have wished for better care for him. Whatever the crisis, for example pain or wound management or concerns about his health, the nurses and carers responded immediately
and ensure that he was safe. It felt as if the staff treated him as you would a family member and despite all his physical difficulties, my brother looked happy, relaxed, well looked after, and loved.

The atmosphere at Lindridge is calm, homely and welcoming. The food amazing and the management team are visible and approachable. As family we were always treated with kindness, respect and sympathy at a very difficult and stressful time and were made to feel part of their family. It really is a wonderful place. Thank you.

We moved my dad to Spiers Care Home from another home and he is settling in well due to the staff, the setting and feeling of being cared for. We know he is safe and will be well looked after in Spiers. His dementia is progressing very quickly and is variable day to day. Staff are responsive and attentive
