I can't speak highly enough of Alexandra Mill Care Home. The staff are genuinely kind, patient, and attentive, and they treat every resident with real dignity and warmth. The home itself is always clean, welcoming, and has a lovely atmosphere that immediately puts families at ease. Communication is
excellent, and it's clear how much care and effort goes into making residents feel comfortable, safe, and valued. It's reassuring to know loved ones are in such capable and compassionate hands. I would wholeheartedly recommend Alexandra Mill to anyone looking for outstanding care.

We moved my mum to Brampton Lodge Care Home after being very unhappy with her previous care home, and the difference has been incredible. Mum has advanced dementia, so strong leadership was crucial. Although she's only been here six weeks, I already have complete trust and faith in the manager. In my
experience, the quality of a home depends on the manager - and he is brilliant. He has been accommodating, proactive and ensured Mum's care is truly tailored to her needs.

The staff treat her with dignity, patience and kindness, and communication is excellent. The food is very good and they've been fantastic at accommodating her dietary needs. The activities team also deserve recognition for creating meaningful, inclusive moments for residents.

We finally have real peace of mind. Thank you to the whole team.

My husband went into the Care Home in December 2025. He seems to have settled in well and the care and attention that the staff give to him is excellent. As all my husband's visitors have commented, it doesn't seem like a typical Care Home, more like a lovely hotel and it is the best that they, and
I, have ever seen. He has a lovely room overlooking a well kept garden area which hopefully he will be able to take advantage of once the better weather arrives! They have a fantastic range of activities twice a day, every day, and this is such an important part of my husband's well being. My husband has to have a pureed diet due to his health needs but it is always freshly made and well presented. There is also a cafe area which is great for socialising in with visitors and other residents. The lounge areas for the residents are very modern and give you a homely feel. I would highly recommend the Care Home to anyone looking for somewhere for their loved one to stay.
Reply from Bev Oliver, Regional Operations Manager at Alexandra MillThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. It truly means a great deal to us.
We are delighted to hear that your husband has settled in well and that you feel confident in the care and attention he receives. Our team works incredibly hard to create not just a safe environment, but a place that feels welcoming, comfortable and dignified - so it is wonderful to hear it described as feeling more like a lovely hotel than a typical care home.
It's especially reassuring to know that the activities programme is supporting your husband's wellbeing. Meaningful engagement is such an important part of daily life, and we're so pleased he is benefiting from the variety on offer. We're also glad that his dietary needs are being met with care, ensuring his meals are both suitable and attractively presented.
Your kind words about the environment, the caf space, and the gardens mean a great deal to the whole team. Creating a homely atmosphere for residents

My mum attends the day care centre four times a week. She loves going. I can't thank Kirsty and her team for the caring, friendly and professional way they are with my mum. It's given mum a new lease of life. Mum loves the company and it's given me the peace of mind that's she's in good hands. They
pick her up and bring her home. It's a lovely place and I would recommend it to anyone, as I have done several times.

Everyone is so welcoming to my mum. She looks more like her usual self after a few weeks of being at Brampton Lodge Monday to Wednesday. She looks forward to going and she remembers being there. Mum also likes being on the minibus.
Also, really good staff communication when issues have arisen over a
jealous 90+ male friend who would rather she sit at home bored and lonely than she go out and enjoy herself.

Mum has spent time in three care homes over the last few years. We chose Alexandra Mill firstly due to its location and it was recently built. Our expectations for facilities (shop, cafe, meals, care) have all been met, with some staff members exceeding them. I feel confident that mum's physical and
most mental needs are well catered for. The extra activities to encourage residents to continue to learn, have fun and socialise are superb. There is always a positive, friendly atmosphere for both residents and loved ones who visit regularly.

Brampton Lodge is filled with care, they deliver a wonderful service and are very compassionate. You sense the feeling of together the minute you walk in to the main residential area.
The residents all appear to be very happy and content in their own ways, they are clean and the environment is perfectly
safe for all.
The staff whom we have dealt with over the last few months, have been very knowledgeable, honest, cheerful and demonstrate a fondness for all of the residents.
Everyone is very personable and they want to help, no matter how big or small of a problem.
Our resident, is very settled, comfortable and excellently well looked after. They know all about her, wonderful communicators with her and for someone who was very anti care home, she know calls this home, on every level.
From the management down, this is a care home that is really trying to make a difference and are always trying to improve the care they offer. The resident is firmly at the heart of everything they do.

I have been taking mum to Brampton Lodge Day Centre for the past 4 months and the experience has been fantastic from day 1. Mum is generally reserved in new environments, but was made to feel so welcome that she settled in almost immediately. The day centre gives her valuable social interaction and
stimulation in an inclusive environment and gives mum structure to her day and something to talk about in the evenings. The team have always been cognisant of her changing needs and have always worked to meet them. She has been on several outings where the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure the participants had a thoroughly enjoyable time. She is always greeted and farewelled by name and with hugs and cuddles. I can't thank the team enough for their care and enthusiasm - they are an amazing bunch. A special thank you to Kirsty, the day centre manager, who has been unfailingly helpful.

My Mother attends the daycentre, we were really struggling at home and were feeling lost, we came to look around where we met Kirsty and her team, she offered so much help and advice, we were offered a trial day, where my mother was dropped off by myself and I was able to complete some chores around
her house and do some shopping and time for myself. My mother had a great time and couldnt stop smiling about the dancing and knitting (which she has not been able to do for years) You truly are a life saver! Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad has lived in Newark for almost a year. I visit him regularly and have no complaints about the care he receives. Newark is a calm, friendly and welcoming place. The staff are all hard working, friendly and caring and Im able to approach any staff member there with any questions I have and feel
listened to. The staff know my dad well and the best way to work with him. The home is very clean and well looked after. I am so thankful for Newark and all staff that work there, I can go to work now and know that my dad is safe.
