My mother received end of life care from the wonderful staff who allowed us as a family to be with her until the end . This turned out to be five days of laughter, tears, and wonderful stories being told over this time with dozens of people visiting . My sisters and I plus granddaughters all stayed , we were fed and supported thorough out by caring staff from all departments. We will always be eternally grateful to Welwyn Grange for making those last days something we will treasure

A really professional and welcoming care home with attentive and long standing staff who have deep knowledge of health and welfare and are proactive in escalation management. The communication with Evan prior and during the placement about needs and expectations was thorough and clear. At the coal face the care was exemplary with empathy and attention to detail being evident with all staff members. Ade and Joan looked after my loved one with utmost professionalism and made sure that their needs were met and that anything unusual was escalated to medical professionals promptly. The rooms themselves were modern, spacious and clean much like a 5 star hotel. They went the extra mile to transport equipment because we are close by.

My mother moved in 4yrs ago aged 90. She has dementia and she also has to be hoisted into a wheelchair to join other residents in the lounge.
To begin with, staff were not well trained in dealing with a diabetic on a mixed fast/slow insulin, where the situation can change dramatically in minutes. Fortunately this is now resolved and in dealing with all her other complex care needs, they are fantastic.
Everyone is very caring and friendly and, being a small home, they know all the residents well. I had a CHC mtg recently which required lots of docs as evidence of her complex needs. Nurse Addy put in extra time to assist, even on his days off. This is testament to the level of dedication the staff show to their work.
The building is modern, tastefully decorated with a nice garden. It's kept very clean and well maintained. They have superb links to a local medical centre with weekly GP visits as well as responding quickly whenever necessary.

I would highly recommend this nursing home.

Since March 2026 , I have been visiting a friend at Oakham Grange. She moved in from hospital and was concerned about moving into residential care.
Oakham Grange were very kind and understanding of her concerns and listened to her fears and worked with her to show
how caring and kind they are to residents.
Nothing is too much of a problem and she has settled in very well and is enjoying the activities that are provided.
She is enjoying the choice of meals, and if there has been a meal that she cannot eat, then she is always offered several alternatives.
All the staff are helpful and chatty which has made her feel more at home.
Recently they held an event which friends and family could attend and it was lovely to see residents and staff enjoying the
event. This included a barbeque , salads, cakes etc for everyone.
The facilities in her room are very good and always clean. Additional towels or change of bedding is never a problem.

There is a good level of security when visiting

My husband was in respite care at Welwyn Grange for 3 weeks. Our son looked for residential care on our behalf.  He chose Welwyn Grange for several reasons.  He was very impressed by the attitude of the staff.  He said the receptionist was extremely  welcoming and understanding on the phone which immediately made an immense impression.
The manager showed him around.  She, too, has great empathy and understanding.

Welwyn Grange is a most beautiful place, purpose - built and feels like a lovely home. Both I and my husband visited the Grange and were as impressed as our son. All the staff are kind and friendly´.While my husband was there it was his birthday. We celebrated in the special dining room. The chef made a delicious chocolate cake.Should my husband need respite care again we won´t hesitate to send him back to the Grange. It feels like a home from home. A G

We would absolutely recommend Welwyn Grange care home.
The staff and facilities are superb and all the team have a friendliness and a professionalism that would be hard to match.
Our beloved James had the best time during his 3 month stay here and he couldn't wait to return after a day out.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to Lynne, Liz, Maddie, Shamil, Dean, Sheena ( and others too many to mention) and of course the lovely Mandy who saved us late one afternoon when we had carried out a tour of the local care homes without much success or hope that such care, as offered by Welwyn Grange, could actually exist.

You are all heroes and Jim loved you all like you were family.

Care staff are trained to care. To some help and care is instinctive and kind. To others it is all a pleasant job to be tolerated. The Grange policy of moving staff periodically from floor to floor discourages. Dementia patients welcome friendliness to be warm and heartfelt.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We appreciate your feedback regarding staff allocations across our Households. While we hoped our recent face-to-face meetings had answered these questions and provided reassurance on why we operate this way, we understand that worries can still...

My dear, wonderful Mum was a resident at Potters Grange Nursing Home during June 2026. Sadly, Mum passed away at the end of June following a short illness.
Although Mum was at Potters Grange for only a short time, the quality of care, kindness and comfort she received was excellent. The entire Team at Potters Grange were magnificent: Admin Staff, House Keeping, Catering, Cleaners, Nurses and of course the Carers themselves.
The General Manager of the Home ran a very good ship, but he was also hands-on. He would often be seen chatting to the residents and in conversation with the Care Team, to ensure that the needs of every resident were fully attended to and met.

Potters Grange is a brilliant, caring Nursing Home with amazing Staff in every department. The environment was pleasant and the Home was kept scrupulously clean and tidy. I recommend it very highly.

After searching and viewing many respite care facilities for my husband. Welwyn grange stood out from the moment I walked in the door.
The friendly reception, beautiful decor I was impressed.
Then Lynne introduced herself and gave us a tour, it really is like a five star hotel.
We looked at different rooms, but what was so nice no pressure.
Being in the care field for more years then I care to remember I knew what to look for and what questions to ask.
My husband needs physio and they were totally open for this to continue.
He has been in there three weeks and I had the total break I needed.
He has been totally cared for he looks so well, and even his tee shirts are all pressed in the wardrobe. ( I don't iron them)
Rooms are spotless. Every staff member you meet greets you .

I would totally recommend Welwyn grange check it out

My father spent his final months in Potters Grange Care home. The staff were efficient, professional and extremely caring. They treated him with dignity and kindness and went out of their way to make him comfortable and content. The home itself is lovely, well kept, modern and spotless. Evan and his team of professionals lead the way in care giving. Every effort was made to give my father and indeed all the residents a great quality of life. I am happy to recommend this home to anyone considering care for their loved one. I never had any doubt about the fact that my father was cared for in the best way.

My Aunt was at Welwyn Grange from July 2025. At this point, it was just end-of-life palliative care, as she was only expected to live for approximately 3 months. She just passed away last week. I'm sure this was only due to the dedicated staff's care and attention. She had just celebrated her 99th birthday with a wonderful Birthday cake and celebrations by the staff. The whole place is just first class, more like a hotel than a care home. The care they took of my Aunt was second to none. I don't live locally, so the weekly phone calls were really appreciated. She was so lucky to spend her final months there. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

My mum spent her last few days in Welwyn Grange. It was a quiet, calm time for the family to be around mum. The facilities were amazing and the staff were so caring and helpful. The transfer from hospital and the settling in process was handled with efficiency and speed. Thank you very much for making mum's passing easier for us.

As a businessman, I am acutely aware that people are often too quick to voice grievances but rarely take the time to recognise excellence. My father was a resident here from July 2025 until his recent passing, living with complex Mixed Dementia and significant behavioural challenges. Despite these difficulties, the team never wavered in their commitment to his dignity.

The Home Manager is quite simply one of the most capable and professional senior leaders I have encountered, possessing a rare blend of clinical tact and emotional intelligence. The reception team is the heartbeat of the operation, providing comprehensive knowledge and a welcoming atmosphere. I also wish to highlight the housekeeping staff; one individual in particular worked with a singular ferocity and professional speed while always maintaining a genuine, human connection with my father. Nearly all staff brought distinct personalities and a great sense of humour to their roles with impressive alacrity.

My husband went to Welwyn Grange from hospital in February. He was very frail and had Alzhheimers. Unfortunately he only spent 2 weeks there but the care he received was wonderful. Welwyn Grange is more hotel than Nursing Home and spotlessly clean.
I found all the staff to be caring, kind, compassionate attentive and they made his last days very comfortable. I'm also grateful for the warmth and care they showed me as I navigated a very difficult time.
Before he passed away he had a visit from Fudge, the bunny rabbit, (he loved all animals) I don't think he knew much about it, but it was just another lovely touch that Welwyn Grange provided and I had a lovely cuddle!

I couldn't have asked for a more caring environment and especially staff for my husband to have spent his last days in and with. Thankyou.

Prior to my retirement I worked for many years as a support worker, and therefore have personal experience of how challenging the role can be.

Since my relative became a resident I am pleased to say that overall I have had a very positive experience at the Grange. The residence is always clean and tidy and both staff and management are always polite, professional and helpful. And most importantly my relative is happy, safe and well cared for with both dignity and respect. Many thanks to all concerned.

From my first call one friday tea-time, Oakham Grange have been excellent in their care + patient service.

I needed to get my 83 year old mum in for emergency respite care that evening and they accommodated and helped me straight away, the staff were so kind. A nurse and senior support worker were waiting for us and instantly put my mum at ease. Her room is very nice and clean and every care need my mum has is taken care of with kindness, dignity and respect. She feels safe and looked after. I can't thank you all enough.

Dad has been a resident at Oakham Grane for around 6 months following a fall at home. I viewed around a dozen care homes before choosing Oakham Grange and am delighted at how things have worked out. The facilities for dad are excellent - he has a build in hoist in his room to allow him to be moved safely from bed to chair etc. The staff are very friendly and caring, the food is excellent and the general facilities top rate.
