I had a fall and could not look after myself at home, and could not find a carer. I came for a rest to help me recover. I found the room large, comfortable did restful. There are more staff about than I expected and they are friendly helpful and well trained. If I need this kind of support in the future
I shall apply here.

Our elderly friend needed respite, and she couldn't have been cared for any better! She was so nervous going in, but the staff made her feel at ease straight away.
Staff are clearly enjoying working here and us as visitors were made to feel so welcome.
On top of that, the home is beautiful.
Our
friend is now at home, but told us she'd like to come back for a cuppa and say hello to the staff, and would soon like to go back for her 'pamper holiday'.
We brought in an anxious fragile bird, but got back home a chatty confident lady who's spreading her wings!
Thank you what all of you have done, you're all amazing!

My godmother arrived at Oakham Grange in October 2025 following respite elsewhere and the realisation she was unable to live in her own home any longer, even with support.
From the moment I spoke to Emma, the Care Pathway Manager arranging a room, to all staff supporting my godmother through a somewhat
tricky and upsetting settling in period for her, due to her condition, nothing has been too much trouble. The staff are polite, professional caring and attentive and nothing is too much trouble, including sourcing a McDonalds milkshake for breakfast!!!
Everyone is friendly from the nursing staff to the housekeeping staff and activities co-ordinator.
Staff respond quickly to emails and deal with any concerns raised at the earliest opportunity. They have kept us informed in with any issue regarding my godmother which is very reassuring.
I am a former adult and paediatric manager and have been impressed by the care and compassion staff convey to all residents.

At all times I found the support & care given very good indeed - from front of house to back of house and the invisible people in between. I cannot believe they could have done any more for my mother who was able to enjoy her remaining months in comfort and without need.

All members of staff were

capable and delivered their support in a kind, smiling, calm and professional manner -- truly invaluable.

In our experience, Oakham Grange provides excellent care. We greatly appreciate their flexibility and understanding as my aunt undergoes a difficult transition towards relinquishing her independence. The environment in the home is warm, clean and comfortable with good provision for both privacy and
community. The staff are friendly and compassionate and appear to genuinely enjoy their work.

The Grange was amazing from start to finish. We had tried 5 care homes which all either rejected us or we rejected them.
The grange did not turn us away but worked with us to help our father find the right home for him. To do this we arranged a faux wine tasting for my father which the grange and
emma in particular went along with.
The daily reviews were a god sent and the level of care that was provided was top notch.
In those final moments you could see the genuine care and love for my dad.
Can not say thank you enough.

My Mum went to Welwyn Grange for two weeks respite care in May and then moved in permanently in August this year. I cannot rate Welwyn Grange highly enough. Their level of care is second to none. Every single member of staff goes over and above to ensure that residents are looked after amazingly
well and their families kept up to speed with their care plan at all times. I couldn't wish for a better place for my Mum to be in this last chapter of her life. Absolute 10/10

My husband (R.W.) has been residing at Oldham Grange for 4 and a half months. He has multiple medical diagnoses but for me the most difficult to accept and cope with is his dementia which has rapidly progressed in the last 6 and a half months. Behaviour and subsequent care management can be very challenging
and I have witnessed on multiple occasions great patience, concern, gentleness and respectfulness for privacy and dignity by staff as they cope with these difficult and trying situations. I am kept informed and consulted from time to time, and emotionally cared for and supported as well. I was initially attracted to OG's family-centred philosophy of care and I have experienced this much to my satisfaction. Last Sunday several family members wwere enabled by OG to enjoy a Sunday lunch with R. to celebrate his 89th Birthday. It was a happy occasion for R. and his family to come together in lovely, comfortable and safe surroundings and be served a super lunch all carried out with love and care.

Over the past four months of my wife's residency, I have been a regular visitor to Oakham Grange. During that time, it has been a comfort to see my wife securely settled in such a well-designed, well-equipped and well-maintained home where her medical, personal and social needs can be met. This is largely
due to the hard work and commitment of the staff - all of whom are welcoming, helpful and always keen to improve the service they offer by addressing any problems that arise. No care home can be perfect - but Oakham Grange manages to tick many of the boxes. Many thanks to all concerned.

My father was taken into Welwyn Grange care home in May 2025, he was on end of life care while he suffered with terminal Lung cancer. Unfortunately my father didn't get to see the care home as he couldn't get out of the bed due to his frailty. Nevertheless the staff made his last few months some of
the best times he had in many years, tending to his every need and nothing was too much trouble, with his immediate family not living close by it was good to know he was in safe hands with the staff there.
Everyone was attentive, patient and most of all cared about the residents, if I could score higher than 5 stars I would. As soon as you walk through the doors it feels like home, not like a traditional care home but more like a 5 star hotel!

While caring for my parents I have experienced about a dozen different care homes in the Welwyn/Hatfield area over the last 10 years. Some have been good, most average and some just terrible. I came across Welwyn Grange about two months ago and immediately arranged a visit. The building is brand new
and the home has only been open for about 10 months. It feels more like a very good hotel and nothing like a typical care home. The internal decor and resident facilities are first class. I was so impressed I decided to transfer my mother from her current home as soon as possible. She has been there for a month now and I have found the staff to be very professional, helpful, attentive and responsive. The activities are extremely well run the care provision is excellent and the residents all appear very settled and happy. In my opinion Welwyn Grange is on a completely different level to any other care home I have experienced and I would thoroughly recommend it. If only all were this good!

I have experienced kindness from 99% of staff. Good care. Pleasant room. Good food. Would like breakfast at 8.30.
Some activities here been cancelled at short or notice which is disappointing, especially at weekends. As a registered blind resident these activities are essential. Food - very limited
choice
Reply from Robert Myers, Head of Care Pathways at Oakham GrangeThank you for sharing your thoughts, as we know you are a very frequent visitor. Person centred care means breakfast is prepared for your mother at a time she wishes, which we appreciate isn't always a time which works for you. We agree food is really important, which is why all meals here are prepared within the home fresh each day by the Chef led team, a team your mother has regularly complimented. The menu (which always has a minimum of two hot options) is reviewed every 4 weeks to make the most of seasonal changes, however if nothing on it appeals, the team will prepare something else, like an omelette with choice of filling.

From my first contact with Oakham Grange, when I was looking for respite care for my husband, following a poor experience at another home, we have been treated professionally and with respect. My husband is now a permanent resident and is being very well cared for. Staff are proactive in monitoring
and updating his care plan and all staff (management, care and nursing) are willing to listen to queries and suggestions and implement change if it is appropriate. Record keeping is exemplary and I am kept fully up to date with any changes in my husband's care.
All family and visitors are greeted warmly at reception, the home is spotless and very well maintained, and clothing is well laundered. The range of activities is excellent and there is something for everyone, should they wish to participate.
Whilst always a very difficult decision to move a relative into residential care, Oakham Grange staff go out of their way to make it a positive experience.

After a 12 week hospital stay, my Dad had deteriorated in many different aspects of his health and wellness. He was discharged from hospital to Oakham Grange, and we could not be happier with the progress that he has made in just 3 weeks of being there. It is a very calming, homely environment with
amazing facilities and wonderful caring staff who treat both my Dad and our family with the utmost respect. The manager is incredibly kind, warm and helpful and has been a great support to us in helping with the transition of Dad's care from home, to the care home. I am very grateful to all the staff at Oakham Grange for providing my Dad with the outstanding level of care and support he needs to help him recover to his full potential.

The General Manager, and every single member of staff at Potters Grange have made my Mother's transition into a Nursing Home so much easier than expected. They have all been so friendly and welcoming and the Nursing Care is above and beyond our expectations. My Mother arrived scared and quite unwell
and within a month she is looking and feeling better than she did a year ago. The accommodation and food compare to an upmarket boutique hotel and I look forward to every visit. Nothing is too much effort and everything is met with a smile. The family is benefiting from less stress and Mum is no longer scared but relaxed and happy.
