I couldn't have asked for a better start to my step dads time at Fernhill House. The staff have been absolutely brilliant in welcoming him and making him feel at home. They also make us (our family) feel at home and welcome, they are such lovely people. In fact, this is the biggest thing that stands
out to me and my family, the team at Fernhill House go above and beyond in making us feel like we belong there too which is such a lovely feeling and it allows us to spend as much quality time with my step dad as we can. My step dad has been so happy in his first couple of weeks there. He really enjoys the time that the staff spend with him, they are always checking in with him and seeing if he is OK or needs anything, sometimes just stopping for a quick check in and chat which he really appreciates. For the times he likes to be quiet, he has the flexibility to go off into several fantastic different spaces (Bistro, Cinema, Lounges) or to his lovely room. It's a wonderful home, Thank you!

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father has been at Portobello Place for nearly 3 years now; it has been just the right place for him. We have really appreciated the care and love that he has been shown over this time through various ups and downs. I feel that we are kept well informed as family on all aspects of his overall care.
Many of the staff have known Dad for some time now and it has been really heartening to see the genuine affection they have for him.

Special mention to the events team who have been great in getting Dad involved in a wide variety of day-to-day activities and trips out. The food at Portobello is really excellent and was probably the clincher for Dad when we all came for our initial visit; the catering team really do a fantastic job.

Management run a tight ship and this shows with motivated, friendly and professional staff; we are confident in and grateful for the care that Dad receives at Portobello.

Reply from Tracy Barton, Operations Manager at Portobello PlaceThank you very much for taking the time to share such kind and thoughtful feedback about your father's care at Portobello Place. It is wonderful to hear how supported both he and your family have felt over the years.

I am so grateful to Leycester House for the way in which they cared for my 93 year old mother and for me during her recent short stay. When I contacted them they responded very helpfully to the urgency of our situation and fast tracked all the preparation for her arrival, without skipping any of the
essential processes. My mother had very complex and fast changing needs, but the staff came to understand them very quickly and got to know my mother as a person, which was not easy becuase of her deteriorating condition. I was very impressed by the communication systems which allowed all the staff to keep track of the care being provided to each individual, and also by the genuine care demonstrated, which was never hurried and always highly skilled and professional. All the staff - nursing, hospitality and management - were amazing. And the catering team were outstanding - the food was brilliant, and every possible dietary requirement catered for.

My husband moved into Fernhill House last week. We had been dreading him having to leave our home on a permanent basis (as I had reached a point where I was struggling both emotionally and physically to care for him at home). We needn't have worried. On the day of the move The Care Manager came to
pick my husband up from home and we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes by all of the staff. Right from the start it has felt like "Home from Home". The nursing and care staff have taken time out to get to know my husband's likes and dislikes and have treated him with the utmost dignity and kindness. Family is the most important thing to my husband and it was lovely at the weekend when our family came to have afternoon tea with us and then we spent a couple of hours in one of the beautiful lounges with the grandchildren playing board games. It really is a "Home from Home".

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I cant thank the team at Ryefield Court enough for the care and respect they have given my nan. We were in a different home before and nan had really deteriorated quite quickly but since being at Ryefield she is so much happier, comfortable and has put on lots of weight (which is a miracle considering
her stage in dementia). The events team are fantastic and the music shows and entertainment they do really brings so much joy to nan. The food is delicious and the ability to have lunch with nan still is really special (she unfortunately isnt able to leave the home anymore due to her dementia). They have allowed me to be a relative not a carer and I'm so grateful to be able to spend the remaining time we have together without worry as i know shes in the safest hands. Thank you Madge and the team at Ryefield Court, you all deserve the world xx
Reply from Madge Wang, General Manager at Ryefield CourtDear Farrah, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. It is truly heart-warming to hear how well your nan has settled at Ryefield Court and how happy and comfortable she is in her home with us. We are especially pleased to know that she is enjoying her meals, music, and the activities that bring her so much joy, and that she has gained weight and is feeling well supported despite the progression of her dementia. We understand how important it is for you to be able to spend quality time with your nan simply as her family, and we are honoured to support her care in a way that allows you to do just that. Your kind words mean a great deal to the whole team, and we will continue to ensure that your nan is treated with dignity, warmth, and compassion every day. Thank you for trusting us with her care.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum was only at this care home for 6 months unfortunately but wow what a delightful 6 months it was.
Mum was a senior carer herself for nearly 30 years so to eventually having to have her as a resident in one was a very difficult decision for both my sister & I, but we have absolutely no regrets of
our choice.
We viewed 7 care homes in all & after very long & sleepless nights thoughts we went with Ryefield court care home, the staff were amazing & could not have done anymore than they did caring for our mother, we were always kept informed of her state of mind & health & wellness & she was always always out & about the home with staff involving her in their activities & down time.
Mum was on the second floor & the senior carers & their staff was so friendly & helpful, if you requested anything they obliged.
Mum sadly passed away & their end of life care was second to none, we were so lucky to spend the last 3 nights with her & the staff day & night were so accommodating
Reply from Madge Wang, General Manager at Ryefield CourtThank you so much Debra for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We are truly honoured that you entrusted us with your mum's care, especially knowing her own long and dedicated career as a senior carer. It means a great deal to us that you felt supported and reassured throughout her time at Ryefield Court.
We are deeply sorry for your loss, but we are grateful that we were able to care for your mum and support your family during such a difficult time. Your kind words about our team, and particularly our end-of-life care, will mean so much to everyone involved.

My mother was a reluctant resident having lived alone for 100 years. Since she has been at Portobello she has blossomed. She looks ten years younger and is joining in the activities and delighting in manicures, hair dos and trips out. She has made friends of the other residents and staff. On Sunday
we celebrated her 101st birthday with the help of the staff.
Cannot speak highly enough of everyone. Nothing is too much trouble.

When you enter Fernhill House you are reassured by caring staff and happy residents. Regular, varied and fun activities are on offer daily: staff have tried and tested events but constantly look for new ways to keep residents involved. Mum has particularly enjoyed the live music on offer. Moreover the
level of care and genuine interaction with the residents is lovely to watch. Visiting regularly I am always moved by the dedication and kindness by all staff, whether carers, housekeepers, chefs, maintenance or admin. : all are friendly and caring. They all help mum with respect, gentleness and laughter. There is plenty of space for residents to participate in activities or, if they choose, to sit quietly. Mum's wing was recently renovated and it's just beautiful. She loves sitting by the 'fire' in the refurbished lounge. Mum settled in really quickly and whenever I call in I find her content and enjoying herself - it's truly a delightful home.

Jubilee House has a very welcoming environment as soon as you enter. It's definitely something I wanted for my dad as he's a sociable character. The care, support, cleanliness & activities are all thanks to the dedicated & hard working care team here. Going above & beyond for my dad & every time I visit.
Management is key & Jubilee does it right. My dad is at ease, which makes me at ease.

Visited here during the Christmas period and it was beautifully decorated!! I had a 5 star meal with my grandad, all inclusive as well which was a nice bonus!! The food was incredible and you can tell the chef and the kitchen staff all worked really hard on it. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming
which makes me feel that Grandad is being taken care of!

Portobello Place

My friend, aged 96, has been a resident in Portobello Place for 2 and a half years. Ever since the current management team were put in place, everything about Portobello is 100% of what a concerned relative or friend would want. Particularly impressive are the frequency and variety of activities provided
for residents and the quality and choice of the food provided. I have never had a meal in the bistro that wasn't delicious and served by the friendliest of staff.
