My mum initially came in for respite when we needed to move her from her home , it was the only home who was willing to help us urgently . The customer relations manager did everything she could to make sure my mum could be moved that day into Cedar, and she was. The home is beautiful , definitely more
the posh hotel feel. You're welcomed by a mass of professional and friendly staff every day and these are the same faces , this was really important to us with my mum having Alzheimer's we wanted her to see the same staff and she does . There is nothing this home won't do , they've accommodated my Dad visiting ,who also has Alzheimer's which has been beyond beneficial for him and so helpful to all our family . My mum has settled so well here . I did look at other homes and not one compares even marginally to Cedar Mews . We love it and most importantly my Mum loves it .

I had respite care for 3 weeks during which I developed a chest infection in one lung and a bladder infection. The care at Portobello Place was consistently good. However, the laundry service did have lapses. I lost several items of clothing which didn't get labelled. These weren't recovered. The optional
services for haircuts, manicures and chiropody were much appreciated.
Reply from Tim Woolford, Customer Relations Manager at Portobello Place

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent respite stay with us . We're pleased to learn that you found the care consistently good and that you appreciated the optional services such as haircuts, manicures, and chiropody. It's wonderful to know these contributed positively to your stay.We are, however, very sorry to learn about the challenges you experienced with the laundry service and the loss of some of your clothing. While we advise respite (short stay) residents to tag their clothing, this is certainly not the standard we aim to uphold, and your concerns have been shared with our housekeeping team so we can review and improve our labelling and tracking procedures. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Your comments are invaluable in helping us improve the overall experience for all our residents. We hope you are now feeling better and recovering well from your recent illness, and we wish you continued good health.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's clear that the decision to move your wife into full-time care at the Lodge was incredibly difficult and emotional for your family. Knowing that she is now safe, warm, and well cared for-and that she considers the Lodge her home-must bring a great sense of comfort.Dementia is such a heartbreaking illness, but the way the Lodge team supports both residents and their families is deeply reassuring. The quality of private and public rooms, catering, activity and the attention to each detail of my mother's care is first class.
Every member of staff is highly professional and very caring, not just the dedicated "care" team, but also housekeeping, catering, maintenance, activity, reception, administration
and management teams. Despite their hectic and challenging schedules, there is always time for a chat. Each person does more than expected to help my mother feel comfortable and secure. My mother is treated as an individual and whilst encouraged to participate in the wide ranging activity schedule, her choices are always respected.
Medical concerns, however small, are picked up, acted upon and shared with me. Any concerns I have are listened to and resolved. I feel reassured that my mother experiences the best possible care provided by excellent management and motivated individuals.
Many thanks to all the wonderful people who contribute to this excellent facility.

Ryefield Court

My parents moved to Ryefield in March 2022 as my mums health was deteriorating. In the short three months before her death I saw her smile more often - she enjoyed the company of others and was given excellent care. My father (8 days short of 101 years) recently passed away. We all live a long distance
away but felt confident that he was well looked after; we were made aware of changes and in his last few weeks we and him were treated with compassion and respect.
Reply from Madge Wang, General Manager at Ryefield Court

Thank you very much for your lovely messages. It has been a real pleasure for us to look after both of your parents at Ryefield Court. They have both been wonderful and truly lovely people. They will be missed by all of us. Warm Regards,

I always find the staff warm and caring and do their very best to facilitate any requests. The house and rooms are beautifully decorated and you feel at home and relaxed very quickly. My mother is content and relaxed and especially appreciates the help she receives in the bathroom. Thank you!
