Reviews

9.8 St Leonards has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.831)

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for St Leonards is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Leonards in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.831 for St Leonards is calculated as follows: ( (133 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.831

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Leonards is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 9 positive Reviews (45 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 9 Target = 1.000

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Since mum arrived the staff have been compassionate and caring to her needs. They are always friendly towards visitors and ready to help both residents and visitors alike and always ready to answer questions or listen to my concerns if any and to put my mind at rest
I have always found the home to be clean to the highest standard and as ex-Royal Navy, my standards are high in this area.
Having spoken to mum regarding the food she is always very gushing in her praise for the standard.
The only reason for my good comment on the rooms is that mum is in a room that is still waiting to be updated to an ensuite and this would improve my score to excellent. This is due to happen in the near future but not at the moment.

I would recommend this home to anyone who asked me.

St Leonards is bright and welcoming, tastefully decorated with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. My friend always tells me how happy she is there and she wouldn't want to go anywhere else. She can be involved in the various activities I have seen when I visit and I am aware that the residents have outings and many other interesting activities. The staff are kind and professional as far as I have seen. My friend looks well and cared for.

St Leonards is a caring, efficiently run home from home for elderly people requiring that little bit of extra help. The atmosphere is one of a big family with everyone helping each other and provides a really happy atmosphere.

All the staff do everything they can to ensure the happiness and comfort of the residents. There are varied activities to engage the interest, both physical and passive. The hygiene is exemplary. Food is varied and well prepared for all tastes and requirements. My mother has been a resident for over six years and I have no reservations about recommending this well run care home to anyone.

I wanted to say a very big thank you to all the staff at St Leonards for their wonderful care of my mother-in-law. She was only at the care home for a few short months but during that time, staff showed her nothing but love and attention whilst respecting dignity and her privacy at all times. They could not have done more for her, and we are all incredibly grateful. I cannot recommend this lovely home enough. The setting is lovely; incredibly homely, and the standard of rooms is very good with everything on tap for residents. We were always made to feel part of a large loving family. Thank you all!

My mum has been a resident at St Leonard's for over 6 years and in all that time I have been constantly impressed with the care and dedication of the staff. They provide a loving environment where my mum feels cared for and at home. There are lots of activities many of which are individually tailored for my mum with a view to her interests and enjoyment. I have never had a moment's concern regarding her safety and well being. If ever there is a problem such as a recent problem with the plumbing in my mum's en-suite shower room, it was addressed and resolved immediately. We have never regretted choosing St Leonards.

The staff are professional in their care and genuine in their concern for both residents and families - within weeks whenever we visited they knew who we were, who we came to see and where my Mum was. From Manager to HCA. There are regular reviews in which we as family are involved. There ae regular activities, quizzes, bingo, regular visitors of singers and dancers and thins related to seasons and evengs e.g. Olympics, Queen's birthday, Chinese New Year. The doctor visits regularly and if the staff are concerned over anything they ask him to take a look. In my Mum's case, spotting signs of skin cancer, now successfully removed. My Mum can be grumpy and at times is strong willed but the staff turn it into a positive, as keeping her character. The home and the staff are a blessing to us and her even though she may not always realise it!

Choosing a care home for my Mum was one of the most difficult things I have had to do. We visited many care homes in the area and St Leonards was by far our preferred option. We wanted somewhere with a homely atmosphere, somewhere where she would feel safe and be treated with kindness and respect. Also somewhere that we as a family would feel comfortable and enjoy visiting regularly.

The staff are its greatest asset; Kind, Caring, Respectful, and Fun. They will often be chatting/laughing/singing/dancing with the residents and take the time to share a joke or hold a hand. A lovely family environment. My daughters and I always enjoy visiting.

The residents are always impeccably dressed and enjoy delicious freshly cooked food.
There is some great entertainment and different activities. Festivals are keenly celebrated and we have enjoyed going to the summer fetes, Christmas parties and other organised parties for family and friends.

Thank you St Leonards !

As I live abroad and am my mother's only son, it is imperative that I have total confidence that she is receiving the best quality care. To this end I carried out extensive and detailed research on care homes in the Aylesbury area prior to her placement at St. Leonard's, eventually visiting about a dozen. Several I considered excellent. What sets St. Leonards apart is the palpable sense of humanity which reigns in the home. Well managed with a very dedicated staff, I have peace of mind that my mother has the best quality of life possible in a safe, spotless, homely environment.
