This was a four day respite break for my Mother In law and of course for me and my husband as we care for her full time. The home is absolutely beautiful. Everything is kept very clean and the décor is outstanding. The grounds are also beautiful.
My mother in law really did enjoy her stay in the residential part of the home. Her room was gorgeous!
The staff were fantastic and really did a fantastic job of looking after her. The level of professionalism throughout is exceptional.
We have already booked mum back in in September for a whole week!

Thank you to everyone - see you soon.

My father was transferred to Moat House, Great Easton from Princess Alexandra's hospital, for 'end of life care' in 2015. He was very poorly; he had had a seizure, was severely underweight, too weak to stand or sit up, and was unable to feed himself or take solid food. The hospital had told us that he only had weeks left to live.
Due to the standard of care that he received from all the staff at Moat House, he is now, 18 months later, walking with a frame and can feed himself.

My sister, not in the first flush of youth, suffered a significant fracture to the top of her femur - so was "injured" rather than "ill". She needed a negligible amount of nursing, just some care and assistance with simple chores - and the reassurance that help was close at hand if required.

Her room was wonderful; modern, spacious, clean, bright and well furnished equipped and the en suite was splendid. It had a number of emergency call devices.

Some particular, minor failings could be put down to the lack of continuity of the staff - different faces every day, some better than others. The management was responsive but could have been more proactive in finding out if residents had any issues by visiting more often. The food offerings in the evening were rather insubstantial. Landline phones should be made standard.

Overall, as a brother, living a fair distance away, I was reassured by the knowledge that my sister was being well looked after in a safe, modern establishment.

Alistair Betts, Regional Manager at The Moat House Nursing & Residential Care Home responded to this review on 03 Aug 2017:

Thank you for your feedback which is extremely helpful. We continually review all areas of the service we provide at The Moat House. We take the well-being and safety of all people who use the services extremely seriously and your feedback will be shared with the Team.

My Aunt became a Nursing Home resident for a period of 5 or 6 weeks. The standard of care and attention that was given to her was truly excellent, compassionate and considered but above all given by all those who came into contact with her. The Management and Administrative support is also excellent which is important to recognise.

I cannot praise Moat House highly enough.

A beautiful care home in a tranquil setting.

My mother enjoyed her stay in the 'Thistle Suite' and was very well looked after. She is frail and has personal care needs, which were fully met. She enjoyed meeting new friends and is looking forward to her next visit, next month.

Being able to book in advance is a godsend and we can go away on holiday knowing that mum will be well looked after, eat beautifully prepared meals and enjoy her own holiday too.

I am so happy with the care that Mum is given at Moat House. It has taken a great weight from me knowing that she is getting the 24/7 care she needs.
Staff are lovely and caring.
And I feel that they care about me as well as Mum.

Wonderful to be able to drive away after a visit knowing Dad is safe and being well cared for. The staff have become 'family' to him over the last few years and are very forgiving when he gets in a grump! Christmas day was particularly special as the staff on duty made everyone feel so welcome and you could see that all residents and staff were enjoying themselves.

Our family have been welcomed into The Moat House at Great Easton since February 2017, when my parents-in-law began their residence there. We all feel that it is more like stepping into a hotel as opposed to a care home! The staff are all kind, considerate and very welcoming, and always do their utmost to help in any way. My "in-laws" have settled very well in fact far better than we would have imagined! They speak so highly of everybody there. The Moat House is always spotlessly clean and the rooms very nice and comfortable.

My mother has been in The Moat House Nursing & Residential Care Home for three and a half years. She is well cared for and the staff always keep us informed on her well-being. The Moat House is always clean and well looked after. The staff are cheerful and manage her moods very well. My mother does not join in any activities and that is her choice.

I was extremely apprehensive about moving my mother from her extra-care flat into the specialist dementia suite but had to recognise that her condition now needed this extra level of expert care and round the clock support. I have always been fully involved with my mother's care and am delighted at the way the Moat House staff have understood my wish to work in partnership with them. They have involved me in the formal care planning and in the day-to- day response to Mum's changing moods and needs. I have always felt welcome whenever I have visited, even late at night. (They welcome my dog as well!) I am glad of the nurses' and carers' expertise and kindness in supporting people with dementia and I have also felt personally supported by them in my continuing role as Mum's primary carer. When I leave my mother I know that she is safe and cared for and that if she has not been happy I will be told. This gives me great peace of mind. (The grounds are beautiful.)

The care my Dad receives at The Moat House is excellent, all the carers and other members of the team are so caring, kind and friendly which is of utmost importance to me. The Moat House is spotlessly clean, a modern and bright environment looking more like a hotel than care home. The rooms are bright and spacious, and residents are encouraged to make their rooms as personal to them as they like.
Dad has Dementia but is cared for so compassionately, I never worry about him and I know that the standards set by the manager and her team are very high and adhered to. If I ever need that level of help and care I would be very happy to be in The Moat House.

I can honestly say the care dad has received is exceptional. He started off on Willow Suite but after a while it was decided Oak Suite would suit his needs better, and he was more relaxed in this suite. The staff are fantastic, very attentive to the residents needs, but also to the family visiting, they are so friendly they all feel like an extension to our family. The local doctors are excellent too, very supportive and caring. Mum can book a meal when she goes to visit so they can eat together, although currently dad needs help eating, but it's nice for them to gave that time. Meals are varied and made up according to each persons need. The grounds are beautiful, dad has enjoyed being able to get out and plant seeds in recent weeks. There are activities on for those who wish to join in. Each room has a tv with DVD/cd player. Pets are welcome to visit. Basically it's really trying to provide a homely atmosphere.

The care and comfort my mother received at the Moat House care home has been of a high standard not just from the manager, but continued throughout from all members of staff. There were two carers whose care was above all others until my mothers death, right to the end. As a family respect was shown throughout to us. Mum being priority care and comfortable.

I cannot recommend The Moat House enough. The staff are friendly, respectful and helpful. They looked after my mum far better than I could have hoped for. She is a finnicky eater but they did their best to accommodate her. The rooms are lovely and clean, and the food is home cooked.

The care my mother received at The Moat House was exemplary. Tender, loving and caring staff with her best interests utmost in their minds all of the time. They were also very kind to me and the whole family, looking after us too. At a very difficult time we all felt supported and were very much comforted by the genuinely excellent care that our mother was given.

My husband was a resident for about eighteen months with Alzeimers. Right from the outset he settled in very quickly. His room was spacious bright and clean. His carers were friendly kind and considerate, he was well looked after. The morale in the home seemed high which I think is very important. In the last stages of my husbands life the head nurse and her carers stepped up another gear and really excelled in their care for him and myself. Keeping me informed of his different stages preparing me and my family for his end in a considerate and sympathetic way. I can't praise them highly enough.
