8.6 Croxley House has a Review Score of 8.6 (8.622)

The Review Score of 8.6 (maximum of 10) for Croxley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Croxley House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.667 for Croxley House is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.667

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.955 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croxley House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 6.6 positive Reviews (33 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 6.6 Target = 0.455

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Following the sad death of mt father, the care and compassion shown to my mother and my family at Croxley House was outstanding.
The wonderful carers did all they could to support my mother and get her ready for the funeral.
Two carers brought her and looked after her at the funeral which obviously was a very difficult day for us all.
My thanks to all the staff at Croxley House, they are very special people.

From the first day at Croxley House, my mother was treated with the utmost respect and care. All the staff from the management team to the cleaners and laundry workers are friendly and talk with residents and their families as if they were their personal friends. Various forms of entertainment are made available each week and only chosen again if residents enjoyed them previously. The food is very good and meal times are relaxing and sociable occasions. I would not hesitate in recommending Croxley House to others.

Unfortunately, my husband had to spend a week in hospital - when he returned to Croxley House he was very frail, but thanks to the care and support of the staff he is getting a little stronger each day.

The staff at Croxley House are really dedicated - nothing is too much trouble. It cannot be an easy job, but whenever I visit I see the way they treat the residents with good humour.

Maria Baughurst

Job Title: Manager

Description:

My name is Maria Baughurst and I welcome this opportunity to introduce you to my home. I am the manager of Croxley House, a 31 bed care home. My team is split into carers, domestic staff, kitchen staff and maintenance, and I am truly proud of them all. We are all only too aware that this home belongs to our residents, we are purely their guests, it is our job to make their stay as happy and as contented as we can. Their rooms are kept well maintained clean and welcoming with as many of their own possessions as we can reasonably keep in their rooms, we have regular residents meetings to ensure their wishes and requests are discussed and implemented wherever possible. Their likes and dislikes about food and drinks are well documented and adhered to.
Activities play a very important part in our daily routines and again we try to be as varied as we can, with basics like bingo and word games right up to outside entertainers and visiting drama groups. We have a modern mini bus which we use to take our residents out and about when ever we can, and again all their likes and dislikes are discussed at residents meetings, popular entertainers are quickly invited back.
Regular staff meetings at all levels are again used to keep all the staff informed of residents needs and any requests. The outcome to our CQC inspection that took place in the home in February 2013 was very good. As long as our residents are happy so are we. The home ensures at all costs that we provide each resident we a detailed plan of care which is compiled with the help of the resident so that they are involved with all their care needs. Myself and my team work very hard to give our residents the very best quality of life.
