Overview

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for Bradfield Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Bradfield Residential Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.827 for Bradfield Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (217 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.827

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bradfield Residential Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7.4 positive Reviews (37 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 17 Reviews ÷ 7.4 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.8 Bradfield Residential Home has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.827) from 22 Reviews

Care staff polite, caring and helpful to myself and residents. They appeared friendly and attentive. The facilities, including bedrooms, were clean and tidy. The food was cooked well and good.

I have never been to a better run and presented care home. The staff and the owners family could not have been more helpful during our four-day visit to my wife's sister.
The staff insisted that they would keep our sandwiches in the fridge and we could have them at teatime with my wife's sister in the dining room. The next day the owner invited us to tea in the dining room with the residents, now how many care home owners would do that!
The whole atmosphere at this home is of a happy and caring place. Its just the best.

Our mother had to leave the hospital on 16/7/2017 and spent 10 months at Bradfield. I had no idea how care homes operated. I was shown around by a weekend senior care lady and subsequently met the owners. My mother and all the ladies and gents at Bradfield were always treated with respect and kindness.

My mother was "evicted" from hospital after a month and could not return home.
She needed 24-hour care.
A friend of mine recommended Bradfield as her own mother was a resident. Thankfully my mother was offered a room.
She is cared for by the kind staff, who are efficient, friendly and cheerful. The owners are so helpful and, without a doubt also kind. Mum is known by her first name and I am confident she could not be better looked after.

It's a huge step for anyone to decide to go into residential care and also for the family trying to cope with all the worries and cares of their loved ones. My mother has received the highest level of care, everything is outstanding and we can't thank Bradfield Residential Home enough for also giving us the same level of support as my mother. It enables us to carry on with our lives content in the knowledge she is so loved and cared for and we have managed to get the very best for her.
Staff, home, food, grounds and activities are simply outstanding.

My mother had been very anxious and demanding before she went to live at Bradfield Residential Care Home. She was hardly eating and becoming seriously underweight. At first, she told me, as her daughter, to let the staff know at Bradfield that she did not wish to join in any activities. Now four months later her life has been transformed. She is laughing and joking with the staff, enjoying her meals and entering into the spirit of whatever activity is on offer at the care home.

It is an enormous relief for her family to know that she is happy, settled and well-cared for. Whenever I visit my mother at Bradfield, I am always made most welcome.

My sister and I cannot speak highly enough of Bradfield.
The owners and staff are incredible.
Everything about the home, facilities and atmosphere cannot be faulted.
Our mother has mixed dementia and anxiety disorder.
They know exactly what her needs are.
Not only that but they have been supportive of us as well.
We cannot truly speak highly enough of the love and care shown to our mother and us.
Thank you, Bradfield.

Bradfield care home offers a friendly, supportive high standard of care for the elderly. It feels like a home from home and the service users are treated with dignity and respect. It is very clean and the staff on friendly and work to a very high standard. When we visit, we are always made welcome and kept up to date with my relative's progress and care. It feels safe and secure, one or if not the best care home I have visited.

During the seven years that my mother lived at Bradfield, her dementia became worse until she was totally dependent on staff for her personal care and feeding. The management and staff were excellent, adjusting the level of care as her needs increased. I was always made welcome at Bradfield and felt able to visit my mother at any time of day. The wider family was always welcomed to celebrate birthdays and Christmas. Bradfield was run as a big family home and everyone felt part of the family. At the end of Mum's life, staff were kind and professional, enabling her to have a peaceful and dignified death.

David Johnson, Manager at Bradfield Residential Home responded to this review on 12 Nov 2017:

Thank you for your kind words about Bradfield we will pass them onto the rest of the team.
It has been a privilege to have been able to care for your mother who had lived such a fulfilling life. David & Rebecca.

Bradfield is the first care home I have had a connection with where there has not been an underlying smell! This in itself speaks thousands.
The staff always have time for both residents and their families/relations.
Security is well practised, also giving residents access to a garden in which to walk around.
There are a number of areas/places/rooms to meet and chat with residents, such as if an activity is on-going in one, another will be quieter for a chat.

After seeing how happy my nan is after only a few weeks in the home I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for somewhere for an elderly family member. The staff are all lovely and can't do enough for the residents and for their visitors. The home is spotless and you can see great care is taken to keep the home that way.

Our Aunt has been a resident of Bradfield in Walmer for over a year. She is very content and has high praise for every expect of her care. It is a fabulous care home. The staff are all bright, cheerful, friendly and exceptionally kind and caring. The home itself is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained throughout. The mix of needs of the residents highlights the outstanding care that is given to all. If it were a hotel I would give it five stars!!

My mother-in-law was at Bradfield Residential Home for a few years and was very ill before passing away. During her time there she always had a rapport with all the staff. Always sharing banter and a good laugh with them. Staff and management were always attentive to her needs, always checking she was OK. She was treated with consideration and respect at all times.

My mum was in Bradfield from June 2014 until Aug 2017. The care and attention she received was outstanding, the management and staff were very helpful, caring and made her stay very comfortable. They were amazing and looked after her when she needed end of life care. We as a family could not have chosen a better place.

The service and care my mother received while at Bradfield was second to none. From day one till the day she passed away her care was exemplary in every way. She could not have been in better hands, I do believe that she found peace, tranquillity and happiness all the time she spent at Bradfield.
The bosses and staff could not do enough for those in their care. I cannot thank them enough for all their kindness.

Thank you for your letter dated 20th March regarding fee increases. I have had great pleasure in increasing Mum's payments with effect 18th April because not only are you worth it but also so are your wonderful Staff! I don't think that I have ever shared your annual summaries with my sister, but I intend to. They are so much better than another local Care Home that I could mention.

Mum came to Bradfields for a period of respite, initially for two weeks, however she felt so at home and so well looked after - she stayed for four. Her care was absolutely marvellous and meant that the whole family was able to relax completely reassured that she was in the best of hands.

The whole team were caring, confident and welcoming. Mum is a very private person, however the personal care offered was done in such a way that she relaxed and made the most of being looked after.

From our initial telephone call when we were invited to 'just drop in at any time' (always a very good sign) to seeing how the team at Bradfields looked after their residents and the quality of the house, from the food to the warmth just told us that mum would be well looked after. So much so that she has regained her strength and independence.

Many thanks to all.

My mother was a resident of Bradfield Residential Home for just over three years and during this time she was very happy and content. She was extremely well cared for and treated with great kindness/ dignity by all members of the staff.

She enjoyed the daily activities organised by the home and appreciated the many musicians who came to the home on a regular basis to entertain the residents.

She very much enjoyed her meals.

She felt very safe and secure in the home and if she felt unwell, the staff treated the situation seriously and sought the correct remedy.

My mother, at 104, needs a good deal of help, especially after falling and breaking her hip last year. The help is cheerfully given and her condition carefully monitored. Her quality of life is inevitably much diminished but she always seems happy; this must be down to the care she receives from the staff. As a visitor I always feel welcome at the home, tea or coffee is always offered.
