Overview

The Review Score of 9.9 (maximum of 10) for St Valery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Valery in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.917 for St Valery is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Valery is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 3.2 positive Reviews (16 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 3.2 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.9 St Valery has a Review Score of 9.9 (9.917) from 5 Reviews

My relative spent an enjoyable and very comfortable year here, being well looked after by all staff. I was very grateful for the care they provided.

I was fortunate to find a place for my Great Aunt at St. Valery in November 2017. She settled in very quickly and loved being there!
The care team were outstanding, so patient, loving and respectful. The Home was always scrupulously clean and fresh.
My Aunt loved her food and enjoyed every meal. Visitors are always welcomed and offered refreshment.
I cannot express how lucky I feel that there was a room for my Aunt at St.Valery and thank the staff so much for their loving care of her in the last few months of her life. She celebrated her 97th Birthday at St. Valery. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St. Valery to friends, looking for the best care for their loved ones.

Family run, 1 to 1 attention. Genuine caring staff. Stimulate residents. No one left without attention. Safe, good food, comfy rooms. Medical needs adhered to strictly. Almost like being part of a family. Secure - I go home after visiting my wife without any worries. Lucky to have got her in there.

My dad moved to St Valery in June 2017. I had heard great reviews and felt sure this would be a perfect fit for his needs. Dad was welcomed immediately into what I consider to be a family, and was treated as such. His safety and well being is always a top priority along with his dignity and mental health. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. The fact that he became more and more incontinent never phased them, wanting only for him to be safe and comfortable. His verbal communication has become almost non-existent but they have taken the time to really understand him, his likes and dislikes, and totally understand his body language. Sadly dad's nursing needs have become more demanding and we made the difficult decision to move him. I think we all cried! I cannot speak highly enough of this home which is family run with absolute passion and care for the residents. Thank you all so much for loving my dad while he was with you. You made a difficult, heart-wrenching situation more bearable.

I cannot recommend highly enough the level of care that the management and all the staff provide.
Our mum was at St Valery's from Jan 2017 to Dec 2017, until she required nursing care. Mum had a lovely room, kept spotlessly clean, as is the entire home. Mum wasn't always easy to help but they took the trouble to get to know mum really well and find the best way to help her. We were always informed and involved with mum's life but they gave us the confidence to know she was safe in their hands.
They are very vigilant and kept a close eye on mum and took care of all her needs, calling in a dentist to check her teeth, a doctor when she was out of sorts due to an infection (Just a small example). The staff are all very friendly, spending time with all the residents, it has a real family, homely feel.
At St Valery's your not just a patient but a real person they see beyond dementia to the person within and who you really are.
Thank you for loving our mum and showing her such respect.
