9.5 Heathside has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.501)

The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for Heathside is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Heathside in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.521 for Heathside is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.521

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 4.98 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heathside is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My wife was committed to the care home from delusive senile dementia. We met and fell in love as students in 1947 marrying in 1953. Ironically my wife became a Surrey County Councillor, actively mindful of the required standards for social care placements. Bereavement denial triggered her mental collapse and erratic behaviour. Police involvements were frequent as she wandered to find our unexpectedly deceased youngest daughter and her husband (2009 and 2011), she was in permanent clinical distress. It died as she arrived at "Anchor" the explanation? The professional skill and motivation of the staff. All the distress is calmed and to visit her is to meet people who are examples of practical love. Their example is a tonic to me every time.
She was the chairman of a mental health association! Another irony!

My wife and myself visited our friend of over 45 years who has recently moved into Heathside. He seems to have happily settled in very well. Enjoying the food and good care.
We were impressed by the staff who were very attentive to all his needs.
We were aware that his surroundings were clean and tidy.
All in all, we could find no fault.
Only praise for the staff.

Friendly and homely with a great atmosphere. Staff provide excellent care. I like the layout although the bedrooms are small and some units require updating. I believe this is in hand. The consistency of carers is important for dementia residents in particular and this is being achieved at present. Management and staff always available for queries etc.

Heathside is a very happy place. It is like living in your own home with help 24 hours a day. Nothing is too much trouble. We can have meals with Dad whenever we want to and I visit at any time. The staff make us all so welcome and have parties and fetes which Dad is encouraged to join. My dad has been there nearly 4 years and is doing well. The recent client and staff party had a 'rat pack' singer and was brilliant it was nice to see Anchor celebrating their good report. Well deserved.

Overall the home provides a good service.
The staff are friendly, if a little busy, although this has improved in recent months with increased staffing levels.
The building and facilities are in a good condition overall.
Improvements are being made such as re-carpeting communal areas.
Some areas are still in need of improvement such as the toilet in Buttercup wing (eg substantial dampness on the ceiling).
Overall Heathside is a good facility and steadily improving.
