Felmingham Old Rectory

Aylsham Road, Felmingham, North Walsham NR28 0LD

Felmingham Old Rectory is a converted, period home that offers a charming and traditional setting in the village of Felmingham, Norfolk with a local shop and post office close by.

The atmosphere is warm, friendly and homely and the care home has received positive feedback from relatives and visitors in relation to this.

It is very important to staff to keep residents physically and mentally active as much as possible. Staff arrange regular exercise and movement sessions. Residents also help around the home, with tasks like laying tables or helping with laundry and there are gardening and baking sessions. The residents also go to the local shop and have regular walks around the village.

Staff are extremely caring and compassionate with the residents. They have a laugh with the residents and try to help them not to take life too seriously and to have some fun.

The care home is in touch with the local community and receives visits from local schoolchildren. The church also has strong links with the home and the vicar’s wife comes in twice a week to spend time with residents and their families.

Overview

The Review Score of 8.3 (maximum of 10) for Felmingham Old Rectory is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Felmingham Old Rectory in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.421 for Felmingham Old Rectory is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.421

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.866 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Felmingham Old Rectory is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 8.2 positive Reviews (41 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 8.2 Target = 0.366

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My family and I were very impressed by the level of care afforded to our Dad during his time at Felmingham Old Rectory. My Dad was a resident for circa. 18 months. He was an active eighty something living with Alzheimer's and Dementia when he moved in.
The care my Dad received was excellent and as this was not my Dad's first care home I feel very strongly that this was the case. Nothing was too much bother and the staff would always find time to speak to my Mum, also in her eighties, to allay any concerns she had. The behaviour of those living with Dementia can be very challenging and also vary significantly from one person to another. The staff at Felmingham treat every resident as an individual and do all they can to minimise their frustrations and fears.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Felmingham Old Rectory to other families looking for a care home for a loved one.

My dearest friend has now been in Felmingham Old Rectory for 4 months.
Throughout this time, his day to day care has always been compassionately responded to by a sympathetic, patient and kindhearted team (of managers, care assistants, cleaners, cooks, caretaker, office staff) - they all treat him with respect and consideration for his (sometimes) demanding dementia condition.

The staff frequently go that extra-mile to ensure his individual needs are catered for – even though their own general workload often seems relentless.

My deepest thanks to you all!

A very close friend moved into Felmingham Old Rectory two weeks ago and I have been so impressed by how welcoming they have all made him feel - as well as myself!

He is surrounded by professionals who always show him such kindness and compassionate care - even though they work incredibly hard throughout the day and night.

The whole team at Felmingham Old Rectory are so friendly and supportive - nothing is ever too much trouble! (and we have been quite demanding these first two weeks of his stay!)

The patience and understanding shown to my close friend is really so appreciated - I cannot thank you all enough!
