Reviews

9.7 Ivybank House has a Review Score of 9.7 (9.734)

The Review Score of 9.7 (maximum of 10) for Ivybank House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Ivybank House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.804 for Ivybank House is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.804

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.93 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ivybank House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8.6 positive Reviews (43 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 8.6 Target = 0.930

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Our aunt and uncle came to Ivybank House four years ago and our uncle passed away a year ago. By his own admission, he had enjoyed three very happy years at Ivybank House!

Our aunt was then brilliantly supported and cared for by the staff here until she passed away a couple of weeks ago.

The home is a wonderful place - as soon as you walk in you feel as though arms surround you in care.

We have friends who know other homes - but to us - Ivybank House is the gold class and staff here are real gems. Thank you so much to all of you.

Ivybank House did my Dad the world of good. He was only in for 6 weeks and they made him 100% better. Everything about the home was fantastic.

The staff were all amazing and nothing was ever too much trouble.

Mum has been a resident for 6 years and has always received care of the highest standard. Staff are aware of individual resident's requirements, and always ensure that they are comfortable and happy within the home environment. Staff treat residents with respect and kindness and, as a family, we are always made most welcome when visiting - we particularly enjoy the afternoon tea and cakes!

The house and grounds are beautiful and are always maintained to a very high standard, and residents are offered a variety of well-prepared meals, with individual needs being catered for. We have joined Mum for lunch on may occasions, including Christmas Dinner, and it has always been most enjoyable.

Inevitably there are sometimes changes in personnel, however, the caring ethos is a constant factor throughout all levels of staff.

Very caring and approachable staff. The manager and assistant manager were always happy to help with anything. Caring staff could not have done more to help my mum both when she first arrived and later when she became poorly. A lovely home with very good food. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Jason D'arcy

Job Title: Home Manager

Description:

All our brighterkind Home Managers are highly qualified and extremely experienced. At Ivybank House Care Home we have one of the best in the business.

Why did you decide to join brighterkind?

I was attracted by the company ethos and the positivity.

What one thing do you enjoy most about your job?

The variety of my day - I can be working on an action plan one minute and then shaking pom pom’s in our Oomph! sessions the next! Who wouldn’t enjoy that?

What are your interests outside of work?

Spending time with my two young boys, cooking, swimming and movies.

Key qualifications and experience:

* NVQ 4 & RMA

* Conversational BSL (British sign language)

* Wide range of experience in Alzheimer’s, acquired brain injury, mental health, LD

* Experience as a head of care at a residential college for young people with Asperger’s.

I am passionate about…

People being given the chance to live the life they want to, no matter where you’re from or who you are.

What do you feel is your biggest achievement?

Watching my sons grow up (although I sometimes wish time would slow down) into fantastic lads. It really does fill me full of pride!

My favourite brighterkind value from our five values of Keep it simple, Do it from the heart, Make every moment matter, Sort it and Choose to be happy, is...

Choose to be happy

Because…

Even when things are difficult, complaining or being miserable doesn’t achieve anything or help at all. Positivity is infectious and you can actually see the results - residents smiling back at you!
