My wife suffered a stroke in 2018, deteriorated and has been at Puddavine Court as a resident since February 2020. She has now got worse and recently had to move to a nursing home. Both she and I are going to miss the wonderful staff and the exceptional care that she received. If anybody reading this
has a relative going into the home, try not to worry, all the staff from top to bottom really care for the residents. On behalf of my wife and myself I would like to thank them for the treatment she has received. Thank you all.

After a spell in hospital, my father was placed into the care of Puddavine Court under the intermediate care scheme, with a view to getting him back home, but unfortunately, it became clear to all concerned, that my father was unable to return home and be safe in his home environment, so now he finds
himself a permanent resident, he is now settling in well.
The environment that all the residents are in is exceptional. I find the staff at Puddavine Court very helpful, compassionate and friendly, like one big family.
I love visiting the home not only to see my Dad but I also like to have a chat with all the other residents and staff and I feel that this type of environment is lovely for everyone. It is nice to see that there is currently an effort to help expand the minds and thinking power of the residents with quiz afternoons and it also great that visitors are encouraged to join in also.

Following a serious operation, I arranged for my mum to stay for a couple of weeks at Puddavine Court for respite care. She was supported in her recovery with vigilance and warmth by each member of staff. I felt able to breathe knowing that my mum was safe and so genuinely cared for. Staff were in regular
contact with me, reassuring me about my mum. I visited every day and really felt part of a huge family!

The staff gave my father a very warm welcome on the occasion of his arrival and have cared for him in a warm and person-centred manner. The staff are pro-active, friendly and provide a safe and supported environment.

No one likes to leave their own home.
Sometimes, it becomes necessary due to care needs. I have settled here well and have adapted to life here. The staff are very caring and I try not to bother them unless I need to. They always help me.

The staff are very pleasant, helpful and kind. My stay in Puddavine was much more agreeable than I had imagined it would be and I think the staff are wonderful. I have one complaint and that is the bedding. I found myself lying on just the rubber mattress, the under sheet having worked loose, which
was most uncomfortable and unpleasant. On the whole, well-done Puddavine.

Mum's stay at Puddavine was short, simply because she had reached the end of her life. The staff could not have been more caring, attentive or sensitive. Puddavine is clean, bright and well kept and there is a very peaceful atmosphere. I would certainly recommend it to anyone needing somewhere personal

This care home provides a safe and comfortable residence for my father. All of the staff are friendly, kind and caring. The food is good and varied. The home provides for all of my father's needs in a homely environment. I very much doubt a better care home could be found!

My mum was taken into the care home, suffering from dementia, when the directors of the company that runs the care home stated: "we, as a company, do not consider ourselves specialists in providing dementia/mental health care". This seems a little odd. This is like getting in a taxi to find the taxi,
although advertises to be so isn't a taxi at all and is a private car, but, they still take your money. So beware. If you are considering putting someone in care with Dementia do not go to this company. My mum is left to wander in ever more agitative states and the only recourse is to drug her up.

We are sorry that the person that wrote this review feels this way about the care his mother received. We do provide care to people with dementia but sometimes the needs of a person with any type of dementia can alter quickly and without warning. We do involve other professionals when this happens as was the case here. We have to consider whether or not we can meet the specialist needs that can arise from some advanced dementias. We do our best to do so but where behaviours require specialist care we recognise that these needs can be better provided for in a more specialist unit that caters mainly for people with similar conditions as we also have to consider the impact that one person’s specific behaviour can have on other residents as we have a duty of care to all in our home. We do recognise that any decision such as this is always a difficult and emotive one for all parties but we do feel that we did all we could to facilitate the resident whist she was in our care in all areas including treating her with dignity, inviting her to join in the daily activities and we personally feel that our facilities and management are in good order as can be evidenced by others written comments.

From day one of my sister moving to Puddavine Totnes she was made to feel welcome and at home.
The staff are all excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them, always polite and very helpful.
The home was always very clean with no horrible smells, a pleasant place to walk in to.
Unfortunately,
my sister has since passed away, but I know had she lived longer she would still have been happy there.

My mother and father have been residents for 3 and 2 years respectively. I am very pleased with how they are being looked after, particularly as they both are immobile and need help constantly. It is a pity that there have been some staff changes which I realise is inevitable as my father particularly
gets used to being helped by the same carers. Nevertheless, I feel that their needs are constantly monitored and I am usually informed of any changes necessary for their care.

Friendly, efficient, personal caring service. Helpful, informative dialogue on the phone. Good choice of food, well presented.
Mum would like to sit in the courtyard in appropriate weather but thinks this is only possible if a member of staff is present. The use of the large room opposite Mum's room
is light and would increase the number of sitting areas used.

I found the staff to all be very friendly and eager to help.
Residents very happy.
The home is clean and tidy.
The weekly entertainer involves everyone with catchy music and song - all have a good time!

For the last 25 years I've been a Registered Care Manager, 14 of which, with the Devon Care Group. I have worked at 4 DCG homes, ranging from a small 24 bedded home a nursing home and now to one of the bigger homes with 45 beds. I have gained a lot of experience over this time and understand the importance of having a caring and strong team. I like to work with young carers to bring the future managers through so good care continues and to show how rewarding the job is. I've always been passionate about people being cared for in a way that brings out the best in them.

I have been a Senior carer for a few years now. I love running my shift to the best of my capabilities, but it is made all that much easier with the good team of carers we have. There are many aspects to our roles, but Palliative Care is something that I am passionate about and feel that it is a real privilege to care for someone at this time of their lives. It is lovely to be able to pass down knowledge gained along my way to the team that share this interest also. Away from work I am kept busy with my pets and family members, I like to relax with a good book or gardening weather permitting!
