The Review Score of 2 (maximum of 10) for Cary Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 2 out of 5 from 1 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Cary Lodge in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 0 out of 5 from 0 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 2 for Cary Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 10 Ratings = 2
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 0 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cary Lodge is based on 0 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
0 = 0
Target of 8 positive Reviews (40 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 0 Reviews ÷ 8 Target = 0
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Review submitted from a Website Submission by Jodie (Granddaughter of Resident) on Thursday 8 March 2018. Relates to January 2018.
Don't know where to start really, always smelt of urine in the lounge (and often worse) and sometimes in the bedroom too. One or two members of staff were really lovely but they always seemed understaffed and stressed out. Most staff seemed poorly trained, the people who seem to be in charge were either rude to us or quickly passed the buck when asked any sort of questions from us. My partner's grandad was admitted to the hospital from Cary Lodge twice for things I believe could have been avoided if he had been given the right care. I reported them to the QCC for a serious incident which occurred. I would not recommend this place to anyone and if we could have moved him before he passed away I would of. (Too many bad things to mention in 1000 characters.)
How likely would you be to recommend Cary Lodge? Extremely Unlikely
David Gow-Smith, Director at Cary Lodge responded to this review on 28 Mar 2018:
This review concerns a long-term resident who was with us for about a year, before sadly passing away from pneumonia. A year is a long time to be looking after a frail elderly person, and in that period it was inevitable that on certain occasions he would be admitted to hospital for serious concerns. The regulator CQC did not support the family's allegation that we had wrongfully admitted the gentleman to the hospital, and in fact in a recent exhaustive audit of our care practices by the local Head of Community Nursing we were commended. But after the allegation by the family, it is clear that the relationship broke down, and this review is further evidence of that breakdown.
